Avoid at all cost

Avoid at all cost. Cold called a 90year old with dementia and sold a four year policy at £220 a year. Like the previous reviewer believe they have purchased details. Will be reporting and taking further action.

UPDATE: My mother has never purchased a boiler from Gas Assist Boilers nor called them requesting a policy. As previously said, cold calling the elderly, so avoid.

Hi, I am sorry to hear you feel this way, to give you peace of mind, we do not purchase any details nor do we provide any information to any company, also, we do not offer a four year policy? or three or two, only a one-year plan to customers who have had boilers installed, or contacted us directly for plans, I cannot seem to find any information that shows this on any of our systems so please feel free to contact us. We dont understand where the four year plam has come from?

Poor workmanship & they still owe me money

I would not recommend Gas Assist for the following reasons: Their installer Sam did a very unsatisfactory job on our initial heating installation. Gas Assist visited to assess the situation, agreed it was very poor, and promised that it would all be made good (that they would replace the radiators Sam had damaged, straighten Sam’s crooked pipes and crooked radiators, re-do his pipework as necessary amongst other things) and that our new boiler would be commissioned in time for our carpets being laid (as after that date access to floor boards would no longer be available).

Based upon Gas Assist’s assurances, I paid them the majority of the money still outstanding for the job. However, the promised installers never arrived and 5 days before our carpet-deadline, we received an email from Gas Assist saying that they wouldn’t be able to do the work due to staff shortages, so (as we had previously briefly discussed) they asked if I would get my plumber to do the remedial work and commission the boiler at my own cost and assured us that Gas Assist would adjust their price accordingly. Due to sickness, there was no one available in the office for me to discuss this with further, so – given my carpet-deadline - I just had to go ahead in good faith, keeping in touch day by day (sometimes hour by hour) with the office staff at Gas Assist.

Three months later, after several emails and even more unanswered phone calls, I am still waiting for my refund from them for the amount I am out of pocket for the remedial work, buying replacement radiators damaged by their installer Sam, as well as the unsupplied thermostat, etc.

I paid them the bulk of their fees upfront in good faith but not only have they left me out of pocket for their installer’s bad workmanship and for the supplies that they did not deliver, they are now not taking any responsibility for any faults that may develop. I feel that they have taken my money yet have not done the work that they charged for. A really disappointing, frustrating and sad outcome so I most definitely would not recommend this company to anyone.

I would like to reply to the response Gas Assist have just put on Trustpilot. They have most definitely not resolved any of the issues I raised.

To clarify, of the 5 radiators that were installed by Gas Assist, 2 had to be replaced (I had to pay for them) and 3 had to be re-installed due to poor workmanship (I had to pay a plumber to do this remedial work as although their Operations Manager came out and agreed it was necessary, they could not supply an engineer to do the work before my carpets were laid – a deadline that they were fully aware of from the start). They did indeed supply the boiler, but I had to buy the thermostat myself (and pay for it) as well as the additional pipes needed to do the remedial work.

I did ask Gas Assist to swap the radiators around in two rooms – but only because their engineer had fitted the small rad in the big room and the big rad in the small room, which was incorrect.

I did decide to channel in the pipes in one room, instead of having them on the surface but I paid a plumber to do this work because I knew it was not included in their quote.

They say they have been “in discussion with” me and that they have now “resolved” my issues. I do not believe that sending me an email reply to my complaint with wording that starts “Please see this email as our final response …” is a “discussion” and the issues have most certainly not been resolved as they do not accept my version of events (even though I have photographs and emails to prove it) nor have they agreed to pay me the money that I believe they owe me – not even the money I had to pay out for replacing the radiators their engineer damaged or for the thermostat and pipes etc I had to buy as they did not supply them to me.

I therefore re-iterate most strongly that I would not recommend Gas Assist to anyone.

We are sorry about the experience you feel you had with us, we have investigated this and have discovered a very different sequence of events, a £50 deposit was paid before install and any other amount due was not paid until all items were installed, We installed radiators and once installed you had decided you wanted to move the location and pipe routes which was not included in our quotation, however we have been in discussion with you over email as you are aware and we have now resolved any of your issues.

Worcester Bosch Combi Boiler Installation.

After contacting local suppliers I found Gas Assist gave a very competitive quote. The Worcester Bosch Combi boiler was professionally installed by Rob and is working well. I would recommend this company.

Read this before you purchase a boiler!

Tom from Gas Assist was super helpful and responsive and assisted me in having a new boiler fitted in April 2022. We chose the Worcester Greenstar 4000 25kw, and the men fitted it promptly.

As an overseas landlord, I was pleased with the customer service and it gave me peace of mind that they were happy to communicate with me on Whatsapp and give me regular updates.

Roll on a few months later and a failed boiler and their support has been non existent. They only guarantee their workmanship for 90 days. You have to ask yourself why such a short period of time?

So I have a failed boiler and a vulnerable tenant so I asked them when they can come to check the boiler. Upon contacting them on December 15th, their closest appointment would be after Christmas and New Year in 2023! Ridiculous and shameful when you have a vulnerable person without a working boiler!

So I had no choice but to and called a local gas-certified engineer who was appalled at the sloppy installation when he visited my property. :-( I was disappointed to hear this of course as I am overseas. The unit was not even fitted straight on the wall! The pipe work was shoddy and they failed to neatly clip the outside condenser pipe on the outside of the house. it's just an ugly brass pipe protruding from the wall, unsecured.

They suggested I contact the boiler manufacturer direct only to find the boiler registration has gone wrong somehow and now I am struggling to get their assistance. I also never received my final warranty document despite being promised it upon full payment.

All I can say is buyer beware.

Yes, the prices are competitive but this might sadly be a cautionary tale and an example of you get what you pay for.

I appreciate I have a guarantee with the manufacturer but that does not help me when it was fitted so poorly by Gas Assist. It's not even straight on the wall, the pipework is unsupported and ugly, to put it mildly. Most expensive for me was the fact Gas Assist never performed the manufacturer recommended system flush before fitting which caused the boiler to breakdown due to dirty water. So the additional cost to me has been in excess of £600. Only once I had carried out this work would Worcester Bosch honour the guarantee and rightly so. I stand by the review and the poor service I have received.

Hi Claire, Im sorry to hear about your situation, The reason a boiler is guaranteed for 90 days is because you have a full 10 year guarantee after installation with the manufacturer which we actually arrange for you, so you are completely covered. i can also see we sent you the guarantee documents and it seems this story may have been blown out the water as i cannot see that any of this occured.

Great Job

I found Gas Assist to be extremely efficient and very good value for money.
The Engineer was great and extremely friendly and made sure that my parents understood everything. Every person that we have dealt with have been very efficient and friendly. I would highly recommend them.
My parents are now lovely and warm again. Many thanks.

Gas Assist Complaint

At the end of August 2022 we paid a £50 deposit confirming the fitting of our new Glow worm boiler.
On the website, it was documented that the engineers would come and fit it within 5-10 days which we thought would be best for our situation as our old boiler was failing to work and we needed something fast.
However, when the dates were being arranged, they told us that it would only be fitted on the 28th of September. Before they received the deposit, they were telling us that it would only take 5-10 days and we were expecting our situation to be resolved quickly, but waiting a whole month was ridiculous.
For that whole month we had to heat up water in the kettle and have a bath and in between, we kept emailing them asking whether we could get an earlier date, but they kept telling us that there were no engineers available.
They came on the 28th and 29th and they fit our boiler, however they said themselves that they had been given no information on regards to measurements and nothing about the Hive Thermostat that we were expecting. They told us that they’d inform the company, which they did and fitted in the Drayton thermostat which we’re still using.
When I emailed my account manager the same day, he asked why the engineers hadn’t brought the thermostat and the engineers told us that they hadn’t been told anything. We were told that the next Wednesday, engineers would come and fit the new thermostat. On the 30th, in the morning, we received a call from your company, telling us to pay for the service. We told them that we would be happy to pay after the thermostat was fitted, however, they demanded that we pay that day itself and promised they would send engineers to fit it soon. That day itself, we paid the balance but soon after, three leaks in three different places began. We sent photos in an email to show them leaks and my account manager said that on the Wednesday the engineers would fix the leaks as well as the thermostat. Then the following Wednesday, we were expecting some engineers to come and fit the new thermostat, where they never turned up. And the leaks were getting worse.
We had to call the emergency plumber and paid £70 to fix two of the leaks. The leak that is on the pipes of the new boiler was left untouched by the plumbers as they didn’t want to mess it up. We had to empty the water from that leak twice a day.
We kept sending multiple emails throughout the week, hoping someone would turn up to fix the final two things: the leak and thermostat.
On the Wednesday, we were told that it would all be sorted out, after I had sent an email asking where the engineers were, I received a response saying that one engineer had been in an accident whilst the other was going for his wife’s labour. This we could appreciate but it had been a waste of our time waiting for two people who were never going to turn up.
Today, we received an email that someone would come today to fix the leak and someone else would fit the thermostat on Friday.
The final leak was fixed and now we are waiting for the thermostat.
I would like a refund for the £70 I paid for the emergency plumber as it was not my fault that a leak occurred and it took you this long to sort it out.
I also found the delay in this entire service to be frankly ridiculous and it’s now nearly been 2 months since we first started, 1 month waiting for the boiler and nearly three weeks waiting for a Hive Thermostat.
If it took you three weeks to fix one leak then if an emergency happened with my boiler, I wonder how long it would take for you to respond.
I am not happy at all. I used your company as I got a good review from a friend (who is also now struggling to get a hold of you) and because I was in dire need of a boiler.
I don’t need any apologies as they’re quite useless to me but what I do need is £70 that I paid for for your mistake.

The quotation given by Gas Assist for a…

The quotation given by Gas Assist for a new Bosch Worcester boiler seemed to be very Proffessional but when the the engineer arrived to fit the new boiler,he indicated that he could not do the job for various reasons with problems with the quotation.After much hassle the only alternative was to change the boiler to a Valiant.Sam the engineer saved the day but caused much us much hassle and stress.Thus the two star rating.

New boiler installation.

George installed a new boiler at my mother's home. He did an excellent job and fully explained the new system to both my mother and to me as well, so I can help her manage her heating in the future.
George was great, he went above and beyond our expectations, cleaned up after the installation and kept us informed of the process all the time. We can't thank him enough.

Our brand new Worcester Bosh combi…

Our brand new Worcester Bosh combi boiler has been installed yesterday and we would like to say this:
If you need a company to help with your combi boiler project,Gas Assist is the company to choose.
In particular ,we had the pleasure to meet George and Jack ,who were EXCELLENT - thank you guys, your very hard work, which much appreciated;
To the management of the company I would like to give a polite advice - before the day of the installation, it would be nice for an adviser to visit the site, to locate the right place for your boiler/to discuses the requirements of the client ,to avoid any surprises.

The company were very prompt in…

The company were very prompt in replying to my enquiry! They gave a very competitive quote for a Worcester Bosh boiler and were sympathetic and fast acting in getting the new boiler installed as our existing boiler had broken down. The engineers George and apprentice Donnie were very efficient and knowledgeable! They were polite and very clean and tidy! I couldn’t recommend them all enough and will go back to them for the boiler service in the future!

Two people (Jack and George) arrived before 8am, worked a long day and finished at around 7pm. They were friendly, polite, knowledgeable and consulted us where necessary. They cleared up after themselves. Would recommend them.

Super Service

This is a highly professional and friendly company. They talked me through what I needed and after I placed the order they kept in touch and managed, with my agreement, to bring forward the installation date. The gentleman who did the installation was great. He explained everything to me and made a very neat job of it. I was very pleased with the service I got.

Receiving a Quote - Awful Experience

I am very grateful that I trusted my gut instinct and did not have this company do any work for me. My comments are solely based around their quotes process which I found to be so dubious that I would never even consider using this company and will happily tell every person I know, not to go near them.

Quote was made over the phone with no site visit. Given that new gas piping is required from the meter to the boiler, I was surprised they felt they could quote for this as it is not a straight route.

When they had given the quote, then began the hard sell. They were apparently busy for 2 months but had one gap if I wanted to book the work now. I had other quotes booked in so declined. They then offered an even cheaper quote if I booked straight away. I told them I would be in touch once I had other quotes given.

Despite this, they still phoned to try and push me into agreeing to their quote. I declined again and said I would get back to them once I had finished getting estimates and quotes.

After having other quotes and estimates, I realised they had quoted for the cheapest possible boiler, only chemical flush rather than power flush with no mention of the industry standards required, there was no breakdown of the parts and labour costs either.

The final insult came after I emailed to decline their quote, letting them know either way, just as I said I would. I then received another, very agitated , call to ask why I was declining their quote. i explained that the boiler was low end and not what I wanted and also that I didn't feel that a quote without a site visit could be accurate and so I had no faith in it. I was cut off mid explanation and irritably told that all companies do this now and that if I wanted to pay more that was fine, the tome of the voice implying I was in some way stupid.

Given every other company I spoke to offered a site visit or at least a video call to view the location, it rather feels to me that I am correct in my expectation.

Overall, awful attitude, awful people skills, awful standards, awfulfully pushy and well... just awful.

Great service & Price

Extremely happy with the service that was provided from Gas Assist. The work that needed completing was almost £1000 cheaper than competitors. Staff were polite and helpful and I could easily get hold of someone when I had additional queries.
