Using GoSimpleTax is really easy. The software and terminology used is accessible and easy to follow.

It hardly ever works, they charge you and then their system forgets, send out wrong pricing, honestly a shambles

Poor experience with Go Simple Tax.

I have used their service for many years now. Recently my subscription automatically renewed. I didn't realise that automatic renewal was enabled. No problem I thought. Every company that I have dealt with before online has refunded me after an automatic renewal if it was unintentional.

I contacted Go Simple Tax but was refused a refund. It's a shame, as their service has been good over the years, but this will certainly make me find another company to deal with in the future.

Steer clear if you value good customer service.

*Update 8/4/2026 after reply on TrustPilot:

Go Simple Tax claim that they sent me several Direct Debit reminders, but this was not the case. I received no emails from them stating that the money would be taken from my account.

Once again, poor customer service in the response. Steer clear of Go Simple Tax if you value good customer service and honest business practices.

I will update the review if I hear back from Go Simple Tax trying to resolve the issue.

Go Simple Tax have acknowledged my request (9/4/2026) and have sent it to their finance department, but thus far have not refunded me and I have had no communication since then.

I have been trying to submit a tax return for a mortgage application through gosimpletax for the last two days, but the service currently has a software problem. Despite filling everything out, I keep receiving error messages when attempting to file. I spoke to someone on the help chat who confirmed there was a problem on their end but has not told me how long it will take to resolve. It has been several hours, and no response. I am just waiting in limbo with something that was meant to make life easier now making things much more difficult. It would have been quicker for me to do the tax return myself on the HMRC website. A complete waste of the annual fee and the hours it has taken entering all my figures into the website.

I am using for the 4th consecutive year is a good software, but when you need support and they are responding to messages and emails quite long time is taking, unfortunately don't have a phone number

Used this for the first time last year and found it very straightforward to use by plugging in the figures from my QuickBooks P&L report and pension info.
Submitted and paid HMRC and all done and dusted. Have already got the figures entered and ready to go for this year. It’s so slick I actually enjoy doing my self assessment. Wished I’d used this years before now and saved a fortune with using an accountant.

I have been talking to Coco. I have paid for myself and my husband but the software does it allow me to add his details. I have just been going round in circles.
I live in Spain and have to pay tax on property rentals in the Uk. I don’t speak Spanish.

This worked for me for a number of years, had no issues and was straightforward to use.

Easy to understand and use to file my UK taxes while living abroad.

I used them in Autumn 2025 for the first time hence I often needed help. They mis-interpreted my emails and their replies were never much help for a beginner.
Requests to help by a first-time user are replied to with “we are just a software provider, not an accountant” and/or direct to HMRC manuals – not webpages on where to enter what figures on their software, which would be more helpful.
Also they do not advertise that they charge £10 per year to verify your identity using one of those services that takes a picture of you and takes a hundred times to agree that it matches your passport.

I live in Aus and was late with return not understanding I need to account for only house in the UK even though not investment … also had a half of the financial year in England without income. As half year non UK resident its not possible to submit via Gateway and even accountants don’t always know how to deal with this. Easy to use so fast 46 pages of tax return done in less then an hour. Interface could be more up to date pls very happy 😃
