Good retrofit solution for roller…

Good retrofit solution for roller blinds without replacing expensive blinds.

Overall I gave this product 2 starts because:

Pros:
-Easy to install
-Good retrofit solution
-Good battery life

Cons:
-Bulky packaging
-Bluetooth interface works intermittently
-Shades lose their last known position so can't control shades as a group reliably
-expensive
-motor often slips even when following the installation guide so it would be advantageous if they provided a chain that works with their system
-for the price point, the product should interface to google home for free.

Overall, I will not be converting all the shades in my home with Ryse due to the above reasons.

FANTASTIC SMARTCURTAIN!

I’m absolutely in love with my new smart curtain! It’s incredibly easy to install and set up – even for someone who’s not very tech-savvy like me. The app is intuitive, and I can control the curtains with just a few taps on my phone.

I couldn’t be happier with my purchase. The product works flawlessly, and the customer service team was also really responsive and helpful when I had a question. Highly recommend this smart curtain to anyone looking to upgrade their home!

Responsive customer service

Responsive customer service, thank you, but I wish I didn’t have to use them. Had a lot of challenges setting up my SmartBridge, but the tech support worked hard to fix the problem which I appreciated.
They sent me a new device and now it all works amazingly.

GREAT product and GREAT support! Timely response from emails and good FaceTime experience for questions. HIGHLY recommend! Get the convenience of automated shades without having to buy new shades.

It’s a scam

Ryse advertises everywhere how their product works with any beaded shades but then tell you they don’t support your specific shades after you’ve already spent $450 and installed them. Even though they could tell customers before buying which aren’t supported the marketing strategy of “any beaded shades” is too valuable.

Smart Shade control not great

I ordered this Smart Shade control with battery to use with a roman shade. It does not work well, very slow. Then when I wanted to return this, I found out there is a restocking fee even though the motor does not work well. In the end, they refunded the full amount after complaining but it was a difficult process.

Terrible support and after service

Edit: customer service reached out and shipped a replacement which arrived in couple of days only. Working great now.

Great product, terrible after service. They will offer you a free button to write a positive review with a picture or video. BEWARE!! I received a broken button. Took me weeks to get someone to answer my email. At the end, they offered to send a replacement.. Which was delivered to the WRONG adresse at the WRONG country !! After several emails to try to reach someone, now I’m being ghosted.
Again, TERRIBLE after service and support mainly from Pranav.
I never got my replacement button and lost hope at this point. I’m writing this review so others won’t be scammed like I did.

Order never arrived

Order never arrived. Can't get updates from company. Order tracking says it has left their facility (within country of destination) and is in transit to next destination... this was 8-days ago.

Disappointing all around

I'm extremely disappointed with this product. During installation, the device ripped off the wall and climbed up the chain, causing significant inconvenience. To make matters worse, I discovered that the product isn't smart as advertised – it requires a separate smart bridge purchase, which was only mentioned in a footnote.

I felt misled by the advertising and frustrated by the company's response. When I requested a complimentary smart bridge to make the product work as advertised, they offered a 'Smart button' instead, valued at the same price as the bridge. This offer was not only unhelpful but also insulting, given that I had explicitly stated that a button-based solution was unacceptable.

Due to the misleading advertising, poor customer support, and overall poor experience, I'm returning the product.

We would like to note that it is clear in our marketing, product pages, and packaging that an additional SmartBridge is required for the additional functions. Without the SmartBridge, the SmartShade will simply motorize the window shade, and can be controlled via the smartphone app.

Our customer support did offer to provide personalized technical support to walk you through the installation process. However, it is noted that you declined the support and insisted that you would return the product if we did not provide you with an additional free device. Unfortunately, we are not in a position to send out a free SmartBridge. Therefore, we look forward to processing your return.

Installed 4 RYSE Smartshades

Replaced 4 Hunter Douglas shades with new corded shades (the HDs had battery operated motors and the motors were failing...new motors were not available). Ordered one RYSE unit to try on one of the shades. Installation wasn't difficult except the bottom of these shades are 12 feet off the floor and the windows are 60 inches square, so the shades are pretty substantial. Ordered 3 more RYSE units for the other 3 new shades. Installed all and overall they work as expected....except this is a seasonal home and only used for about a month before leaving for the season...so haven't use them much yet. RYSE needs to put all installation videos on their website. I had to look up several installation videos on YouTube. Overall the units seem to work well. I didn't order the SmartBridge. I only use the Smartbutton.
One problem I had was, since I had to cut the plastic beaded shade cord on all 4 to install the RYSE, and use the metal connector to complete the installation, when I installed the second shade motor, I used the connector and after installing it found the metal connector needed to be installed in a different position on the beaded cord, since when I tried to open the shade all the way, the connector needed to go through the spool on the shade and it wouldn't. Had mostly good response from Customer Service when I contacted them, but since I had a plastic beaded cord, there is no solution for this, and the shade will open only 3/4 of the way. Other than removing the shade and disassembling the shade spool and reconfiguring the position of the metal connector, I don't know how to resolve this issue.

Mostly satisfied with RYSE Smartshades so far, and would use for other shades if I needed, just be careful when splicing in the connector so it doesn't have to go through your shade spool.

Here you go

Couple months now and I'm still satisfied. I know one of my package got lost in the mail but it was replaced in an adequate timely manner. A-lot of glitch on the app but it gets resolved within some time. All my settings still works even if the app is glitchy. It opens and closes my 4 windows at the same time. Just the way i set it. I hope success in you guys! I need free buttons. Cant do 5 stars due to its not perfect yet but it works.

Great innovative idea but needs work to eliminate many issues!

Device is extremely powerful to the extent the it literally pulled my blind down out of its mounting. The Ryse controller jammed on the chain and kept rotating the chain around its spindal. This has occurred three times. Ryse told me to bypass the jam prevention feature because the blinds would stop raising/lowering indicating a jam when no jam existed. The only issue I can see is this blind has the controller on the left side of the blind. Also there is no adjustment for tension on the beaded chain. This is an easy fix that would solve a lot of issues for Ryse. I have 7 of the Ryse units. The other issue is the hub doesn't work everytime so I programmed three different times to raise and lower the blinds. So to fix this, for example, Great Room 1 attempts to raise at 8:00am, 8:01am and 8:02am. So every blind has three separate commands for raise and lower. This has solved the issue about 90% of the time. The Ryse program just assumes it raised or lowered based on the sent command. All blinds are within 30 feet of the hub so no excuse for Ryse. I'm still willing to keep using the units. If it gets worse it becomes a non-warranty issue and becomes a defective product issue which has no time limit. I oversaw a very large R&D group for the largest Logistics company in the world out of Japan.
