I’m glad I found this site

I’m glad I found this site, it gives me a transparent communication and allow students to communicate to the host and laid down safe boundaries to both parties. It not only help me gain extra financially but also help students from other countries find a healthy and safe home to stay.

My experience with Homadorma is very positive. They came to my home interviewed me and took pictures. A student found my place on their website and he is now staying with us. The process was very easy and I like the fact that I know the students are legit.

BEWARE Poor host experience

**Update**
I must express my deep dissatisfaction with the handling of recent feedback on trustpilot and the ongoing situation with my listing. As a host, I understand the value of constructive feedback, and I have always been open to hearing from students. However, Homadorma knows only to dish out the advice and not adopt it themselves. My listing was blocked without proper due process or consideration of my rights as a host after my initial post.

Canada is a democratic country, and any interactions with local authorities are documented, protected and can be obtained through a Freedom of Information Request. Instead, Homadorma’s approach has been to block my listing and avoid addressing the situation in a transparent manner.

What is genuine and consistent is the multiple positive reviews of my homestay for the last five years.

This process has been frustrating and disappointing. It appears that Homadorma is more willing to cater to the voices of international students, leaving hosts like myself vulnerable to abuse and defamation. Threats and character defamation have been directed towards me, and instead of investigating or offering solutions ( none since my initial e-mail on December 30, 2024), your platform has taken no action to protect hosts from such treatment.

Had Homadorma considered my rights as a host, this entire situation could have been avoided.

I have been a host on the Homadorma website for a few years now and have had great experiences with the students I hosted.

On January 24, 2025, I had my very first experience with Homadorma when assistance of a serious nature with a student was requested. The student (18years) made threats towards both myself and two Telus contractors working at the property and my neighbor, which raised serious concerns for everyone’s safety. In response, I contacted local authorities. The student was smoking marijuana and vaping inside the property, which is strictly prohibited. He also destroyed the room and washroom. Additionally, he admitted to using psychedelics and other illicit substances during his conversation with the officer who checked his room that day and also informed the office that he was taken to hospital twice now for an overdose. It was also discovered that the student had drugs delivered via mail to the property as the officer asked him to open the package in front of him.

In retaliation for being removed from the residence by the police, the student changed his initial positive comment and posted a misleading and unjustified review of the homestay experience. This review is a retaliatory attempt to shift the blame onto the homestay, despite the serious issues caused by their own behavior.

I respectfully requested Homadorma that this review be removed immediately, as the student's actions—his drug use, threats, and the need for his removal—directly contributed to the situation. In response I received the following response 'Thanks for letting us know. Students who have previously stayed at a homestay on Homadorma have rights to leave review to the homestay family they stayed with. We are not able to remove or modify such reviews unfortunately."

While I understand that students who have stayed at a homestay are entitled to leave reviews, I believe it’s equally important to consider the rights of hosts in maintaining a safe and fair environment on the platform.

As a host, I should also have the right to ensure that my reputation is protected from defamatory and false reviews. A platform of Homadorma’s size and influence has a responsibility to create a balanced space where both students and hosts are treated fairly, and reviews should reflect genuine, constructive feedback. Reviews that are harmful, untrue, or misleading can have a serious negative impact on a host's reputation, even when there is no basis for the claims made.

I have already submitted evidence, including WhatsApp texts in which the student made threats, which were sent to Homadorma. This documentation further supports my concerns about the validity and fairness of the review in question.

I strongly believe that it’s in the best interest of the platform and its community to remove any defamatory reviews and to take appropriate action when students engage in behavior that threatens the integrity of the hosting experience. If a student consistently leaves malicious or untruthful reviews, they should be removed from the platform to prevent further harm to other hosts.

I respectfully ask that this homestay website consider implementing a policy that supports both the students and hosts in maintaining a safe, fair, and respectful environment.

Homadorma.com is a big scam

These nazis extort poor college and uni students that don't know how Google works, predators who control communications between potential roomies till applicant who needs room gives them money than allows them to fully communicate. I had 3 messages banned because I supposedly tried to communicate with an applicant outside of their website. When asked why each time, they could not give me a specific answer, then just kicked me off the site because I demanded to know why my messages weren't going thru. Choose kijiji.com or roomies.com (free!!!) and control your own destiny instead of paying ridiculous fees to these nazi gatekeepers.
