An ISP how its supposed to be

Reasonable prices, no end of contract nonsense, great support when needed...

If you want an ISP that gives you a great service, no silly price rises every year or when your contract ends, and a support team who are available on the end of the phone then consider Idnet...

I recently had an outage on my broadband due to a broken cable, and I got straight through to tech support who logged the fault, and organised an Openreach engineer to come out the next day, Openreach were great too. I was back up and running a little more than 24 hours later. Great service, no nonsense. Fab.

Solid performance and reliability

Solid performance and reliability, the service and support is also excellent (you can speak to a real person with good technical knowledge pretty much immediately if you need to)

Faultless

I've been a resdential IDNet customer for two years now, after migrating from Vodafone. The service has been faultless, pricing is transparent and customer service (on the very rare occasion I've needed to speak to someone) has been prompt, friendly and helpful. You can use your own hardware, there are no in-contract price hikes and everything just works. Exactly what I want from my ISP.

24/7 customer support

Probably the best company for broadband in uk. Paired with city fibre, you have the same download and upload speed+ 24/7 customer support

Great customer support and a reliable broadband access provider

My company has used IDNet for broadband circuits for over ten years, now. They are knowledgeable and thoroughly professional. Their great advantage is that it is possible to ring a technically competent person when there is an issue and get it solved, unlike many broadband providers who have customer support systems that waste time and simply fail to address identified performance failings. IDNet are not the cheapest provider, but, given the quality of support, I rate them as good value for money, which is why my company continues to use them as one of our two suppliers (we need a second supplier for network resilience reasons). Highly recommended provider.

IDNet have technical expertise and are able to deliver

My initial research for a FTTH broadband provider after CityFibre made FTTH possible revealed that not all ISPs are equal.
Some don't offer symmetrical speeds with your upload being just a fraction of your download. Generally, this isn't a real concern and it's how ADSL has always worked, but when uploading large amounts of data, for example high quality videos to streaming platforms, your upload speed matters! IDNet offer this and are very clear.
What I also really appreciated is that I was able to speak to their technical team before signing up with some technical questions they were able to immediately answer, providing confidence. Questions like:
- Is your IPv4 service providing a fixed IP address that never changes, even if configured over DHCP?
- Is your IPv4 service full range and you do not use CGNAT?
- Is there any port filtering or restrictions?

All these questions were promptly answered.

I then signed up for the contract and had been using their 1000/1000 service which has been very reliable. After a short while, I ditched my long standing Virgin Media Business package as the upload speeds and latency offered via fibre are unbeatable.

However, what has made IDNet stand out from the rest is sorting out a routing issue that I had when reaching certain end points on the internet. Latencies were a lot higher than expected. My normal round trip latencies to most EU services is under 20ms. Here, it was consistently around 80ms causing me issues with some VPN connections I require. Upon investigation, I found the issue to be caused by a particular hop which introduced this latency. This was not specifically an IDNet issue: they do not control routers outside their network. However, they were able to manually re-route my traffic via a different third party which has resolved my problem.

I do not know how many other ISPs out there have the ability, knowledge and desire to help out their customers with exotic routes beyond their network to resolve issues, but IDNet were able to do it within a few days.

I'd therefore heartily recommend them, whether for personal or business use. The availability and knowledge of their technical teams really provides reassurance. Their sales pitch is clear and explicit. They deliver what they promise. Consistently.

Great customer service if needed

I'm a longstanding [residential] customer of this niche ISP which few people know about. I'm paying more than I would do elsewhere for my broadband but I am happy to do so knowing [from experience] that if there's a problem the Support team will do all they can to sort it. Indeed, one will usually deal with the same person throughout who can easily be contacted by phone or email - no chatbots or overseas call centres here! Highly recommended.

Be aware you will be charged £198 for their infrastructure issues

Be aware you will be charged £198 for a call out visit regardless of whether there is an issue with their infrastructure. Engineer confirmed internet was ok however issue was with their infrastructure. IDNET know it or charging without resolving the issue with drop in internet speeds or just no internet. Really poor customer service and rather aggressive lately.

Hi CO,

Thank you for your review. We would like the opportunity to respond specifically to the case you are inferring to however, as we only have the name 'CO' to go on and no instances of issues on our network to speak of we are unable to do so.

We will highlight again that should engineer attendance be required to the premises we will recommend local tests to be carried out to rule out a possible local cause. Customers are advised that should engineers attend and find no fault condition or that the fault was caused by non Openreach (or other network supplier) maintained hardware or wiring, a charge is raised and passed on at cost.

All customers are advised this prior to appointment booking. If customers choose not to carry out local checks, they must confirm they accept the risk of charges before an appointment will be booked.

This process is also laid out clearly in our Terms and Conditions (clause 20.10 'Fault Investigation'), which are accepted when submitting an order with us.

There is no fault on the IDNet infrastructure. We have no record of a case of an engineer suggesting an issue on the IDNet network and a status of our network is publicly visible at all times here https://www.idnet.com/network-status.php

We pride ourselves on our honesty and integrity and would be the first to admit and make amends for any failure on our part but certainly will not do so when neither our network nor Team have been at fault.

Sincerely,

IDNet

Unicorn tier customer service

After two years of CityFibre refusing to provide service to our address due to an error in their database and countless attempts to contact them to rectify the records, only IDNet's customer service had the stick-to-itiveness to keep chasing them until they finally agreed that there was no issue and installed fibre to the premises. Could not hope for a better customer service. Thank you to Nikos especially, providing weekly updates of progress throughout the battle. Service has been excellent, static IPs and IPv6 without issue and very low latency.

Outstanding Customer Service and Reliable Connectivity

Excellent service overall. Everything went smoothly from cable installation to phone support. All my questions were answered within a day by email, and I could always reach an agent when needed. The connection speed is fantastic, but the customer service is even better.

Very satisfied customer for many years

I have been a domestic broadband and telephone customer with IDNET for many years and have always had very good, reliable, cost-effective service and especially their personal and helpful service and advice by phone when necessary, including the transfer to digital telephone.

Smooth switch from other ISP, fast stable service since

I decided to switch to IDNet from my previous ISP (same underlying provider - CityFibre). My reasons were the greatly superior technical knowledge of IDNet's support team, their ability to provide rDNS service/delegation and them being a certified B corp. The switch from my old provider (via One Touch Switch) was smooth and trouble free and my service has been both fast and rock solid since. Very happy so far.
