The Avoidant Therapist helps people who are stuck in anxious-avoidant relationships understand what is really happening, calm their attachment system, and make clear decisions about their love life. The Avoidant Therapist was founded by Alexis Friedlander, an attachment specialist, therapist and content creator based in London. Alexis is a former dismissive-avoidant who became securely attached, so he explains avoidant behaviour from the inside: why avoidant partners pull away, go quiet or end things suddenly, and what actually helps. Most of the people we work with are anxiously attached and dating, or recovering from a breakup with, an avoidant partner. They come to us overthinking, checking their phone, and unsure whether to stay, wait or walk away. Our work is built on the Secure Base Method, a four-stage process: Calm: settle the anxiety and break the addiction loop. Reprogram: change the beliefs and patterns driving the dynamic. Expose: practise secure communication in real situations. Decide: choose, from a secure place, whether this relationship is right for you. We offer the Secure Base coaching programme, one-to-one coaching, live events and masterclasses, alongside more than 380 free videos on The Avoidant Therapist YouTube channel, where over 27,000 subscribers have been learning about attachment for the past seven years. Clients tell us they chose us because the approach is genuine, ethical and practical, with no manipulation tactics and no promises to "get your ex back". The goal is your own security, whatever happens with the relationship. Master your attachment, you master your relationships. Learn more at theavoidanttherapist.com

Alexis listened fully and empathetically. He provided an assessment of my situation that was spot on, getting at some of the deeper underlying issues as well as some of the more practical things I should be focusing on. Definitely recommend speaking with Alexis!
