I'm pretty new to it so this is somewhat tentative but they have indicated that they have numbers to demonstrate how much they are working for me. I have noticed at least some decrease in spam.

About Incogni

Written by the company

Incogni, a tool that helps prevent your personal information from being stored and sold by data brokers.

Upon the customers’ request, the tool identifies and communicates with dozens of data broker companies, so that the person’s details can be deleted from their databases.

Leading names in the data brokerage industry currently own data on hundreds of millions of consumers, some boasting up to 1500 data points per consumer.

With the introduction of GDPR and CCPA, all these companies are subject to giving or deleting information they hold on the person if they receive a formal request.

However, contacting each firm could take ages due to the excessive response frameworks companies have crafted and perfected.

Surfshark’s team of researchers contacted 36 data broker companies on their own to show how difficult this process can be. To get a final response took a little over 6 days from our first letter with each new data broker and more than 20 days with each established one.

Furthermore, 63% of the large data brokers asked for additional personal data which is not necessary to complete the inquiry (outside of ID copy), asking for a bank statement or even e-signature and thus prolonging the procedure.

“Data privacy is becoming an increasingly alarming issue, yet many people are still unaware of the hidden market that data brokers operate in,” – points out Vytautas Kaziukonis, Chief Executive Officer of Surfshark.

“As the sensitivity and scope of data they possess widen, so does the need to be able to opt-out of it. However, based on recent studies, the actual process of taking back data is an extremely tedious procedure, which requires legal knowledge and lots of persistence.

“Incogni aims to help users opt-out of these practices more efficiently and exercise their legal right to privacy easily.”

The Incogni privacy tool is available for purchase at the official link: https://incogni.com.

Not worth the money

I purchased Incogni for my wife and myself last year and canceled the subscription within the first year. We did not notice any meaningful reduction in spam calls or junk mail during that time. Their whole model is based on the fact that there will be no benefit to their service. But they can promise you that it is working!! They say they work to continually delete data but then blame you for giving your data away (even though you simply cannot avoid it in the modern world).

Based on our experience, the service did not provide the value it claims. I would not recommend others spend their money on it. The continued volume of advertising for the service makes more sense after seeing the lack of results firsthand.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re sorry to hear the results didn't meet your expectations.

To clarify, Incogni works with a wide range of data brokers, including marketing and risk management providers. While removing your info from these databases can significantly reduce unsolicited contact over time, it cannot stop spam from services you currently subscribe to or have previously opted into.

We never intend to shift blame. Rather, we aim to highlight that data privacy is a continuous process in the modern world. We appreciate you giving us a try for a year, and we will use your comments to help improve how we communicate expectations to our users.

Should you ever have any questions in the future, please feel free to contact us at support@incogni.com.

Formal Complaint and Review

Formal Complaint and Review
I am writing to express my profound disappointment with the service provided over the last year. Despite your claims of reducing and removing spam the reality of my experience has been the complete opposite.
I have seen absolutely no improvement in the volume of junk I receive and in fact my spam levels have actually increased since I started paying for this service. It is quite a feat to charge a customer for a solution that seemingly amplifies the problem. I strongly advise others not to waste their money based on the recommendations of YouTubers who are clearly more interested in their commission than the actual effectiveness of this garbage.
I expected a professional tool that delivers results but instead I have paid for a year of zero results. It's going to be far cheaper and less time consuming just by changing my email address which is what I was going to do in the first place. But I just thought I'd try this company out and it does the inverse of what it says it adds more spam.

We are very sorry to hear about your experience and that you have seen an increase in spam since subscribing.

While it seems counterintuitive, a temporary increase in unwanted mail can sometimes occur as spammers use old data lists that were sold before our removal requests could be fully processed. Our service is a long-term solution designed to solve this at the source.

We would like a chance to review and investigate your specific case to understand what is happening. Please contact our support team directly at support@incogni.com and provide the email address associated with your account.

Avoid if you’ve had two names!

Just signed up to this and cancelled as soon as I had my profile set up.

I’m a woman, early 30s and married. I changed my name when I got married but I am unable to input both my maiden and married name so would only be able to cleanse one.
The workaround by support was ‘you can change your name after 3 months’. So basically an inferior product to those who have never changed their names.

I had to ask for a refund and am going with deleteme instead as it is a feature that they offer.

Disappointing

Hello, thank you for your review. We are sorry to hear about your disappointment with our service's current capabilities for handling multiple name variations.

You are correct that our service is currently designed to handle one name per subscription. We understand this is a significant limitation for individuals who have changed their names, and we apologize that this was not the right fit for your needs.

Your feedback on this is incredibly valuable, and we have passed it directly to our product team for their consideration in future updates.

If you still require assistance with your refund, please contact us at support@incogni.com so we can review your case again and help you accordinly.

I get less calls!

The service is great and they do a good job. I know they are actually doing what they say they are because I get notices from websites asking me to confirm I want my data removed constantly. Only removed a star because I feel like they could be doing even more sites than they do and they slow-roll the ones they do do so that they can appear to be working continuously. And they’re not cheap… but I do get less calls!

Unweaving the “prying eyes” rainbow…

Unweaving the “prying eyes” rainbow feels like an impossible chore. Thankfully, “incogni”, was easy to use which was pleasing.
Yes, I was surprised to read their update reports outlining who was investing in my personal information; however, the real surprise wasn’t data centric.
It came from an inner emotional sense of prying eyes turning away.
That may sound silly, but it felt good.

Promises made promises kept and more

I saw an immediate end to SPAM calls on my phone and a drop in SPAM emails. They follow through with their claims and business promises. They have a few growing pains, but that to me is a sign of progress. I DO RECOMMEND you give them a chance to show you what I claim is truthful.
DO IT NOW!

Fantastic experience

Fantastic experience. I signed up with Surfshark VPN and received complimentary Incogni service. Incogni has almost eliminated all spam calls and texts. I was receiving dozens a day, even with my wireless carrier's spam protection. Now I receive maybe 1 spam call per week or less. Outstanding. They have wiped almost all of my personal data from the internet (data brokers etc). I am so very pleased and grateful.
