Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Considering 42 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many customers expressed significant dissatisfaction with the service, citing a clear shift towards prioritizing financial gain over animal welfare. People frequently mentioned that prices for consultations, treatments, and medications have dramatically increased since the company took over, often reaching exorbitant levels compared to independent vets. Reviewers also reported feeling pressured into expensive procedures or euthanasia without full transparency or consideration for alternative, more affordable options. Some people were dissatisfied with the product and staff, noting instances of concerns regarding medical care and a lack of compassion from some staff members. However, a few other people also felt that the vets themselves were friendly and caring, suggesting that the issues stemmed from corporate policies rather than individual staff members.

Utter money-grubbing scum

Utter money-grubbing scum. Took in an elderly dog in with a diarrhea problem. The vet said that due to the dog's age it should probably be dead already and then proceeded to try and sell my elderly mother £2,000 worth of dental work on the dog.
Took the dog home and gave it some live yoghurt and puppy kibble and 4 months later it's still fine.

I would not work for this corporation…

I would not work for this corporation of Veterinary practices again. The prices that they charge clients are extortionate and unfair.
They also paid me the wrong rate of pay which I had to chase and sort out. Stay away from this company IMO.

Extortionate Prices

£340.00 for a 15 minute out of hours consultation!!!
The practice and the staff at our long term vets are great. With the prices IVC are charging it may well be time to find a new vet. I didnt know the practice had been sold but will check our new one isnt part of this group.

All about the money

I have been a loyal client of my veterinary practice for over 22 years with a number of animals but since the take-over by evidensia, things have not been the same.
1.) there is a larger than usual staff turnover, which almost always points in the direction of issues
2.) prices have skyrocketed - as a small business owner, I know that a business needs to be profitable to survive but the hike in prices is ridiculous, especially during a cost of living crisis, where many will simply not be able to afford taking their pets to a vet at these prices, resulting in animals suffering unnecessarily
3.) reduction in opening hours which forces people towards the even more expensive out of hours service

Absolutely taking the biscuit is when an animal was put to sleep and the pet health club premium is still taken out of my account for the following month, despite me requesting with the practice that they make sure that policy is cancelled.

This company is all about the bottom line, vet care is out the window. Please regulators, do something about this before the entire show goes to the dogs.

Profits above people and pets

Absolute vultures. Feel sorry for the vets at my local practice who have to follow their crooked practices and pricing as well as working across multiple practices.

I’ve always settled my bills at the time of treatment/collection. However, the card machine wasn’t working so was told to pop in to pay later. I’ve been very busy and since the bill was only £26 (pales in comparison to the literal thousands I’ve spent in the place) felt there was no huge rush since it wasn’t my fault and I couldn’t fit it in around work. I’ve received letters every week since and a £10 late fee was added on to my bill.

Received text messages offering prizes for completing surveys etc…I’m not interested. I just want a good honest and reliable local vet. I couldn’t care less for all this corporate nonsense. How on earth are prices skyrocketing for a company of this size yet the next local independent vets prices (who don’t have the benefits that come with economies of scale etc) are no where near as expensive? They have such a good name and ethics…so much so, you can’t even get registered with them!

Before the practice was operated by ICV things were very different and it felt like animals and owners were at the heart of what they did. Nothing seems to take precedence over money now.

Just leave our vets alone.

Legalised crooks…

My actual vets are nice it's the corporation who runs them they are hiking prices up crazily and don't give a damn they are pricing people out of the market to even get treatment for their animals now. They made 2 billion pounds in 2022 alone gross profit in a tax haven in Luxembourg..just legalised crooks

Hiking up prices

The vet practice was ok (in South London). It’s the prices! I asked for a repeat prescription of 100ml of Thyronorm - a medication our cat has been on for years. It cost £135.66 - considerably more than the £86 we paid at the same vet practice last time (recently acquired by IVC - we have been a customer for 15+ years). The same medication btw is available £45 online. The vet can write a prescription to purchase online for £20.

It's all about the money!

Fees are extortionate. £315 just to see the vet as it was after 11pm. Admitted at 4am Sunday Morning and picked up Monday morning. Treated for pneumonia. Total bill was just under £1600. Will have to pay another £60 for a check up in a 4 days time. Payment plans that used to be offered by our vet are no longer available since this company took over. It's all about the money, they couldn't care less about animal welfare.

Worst company I have "never" delt with!

Customer service is shocking, no body picks up the phone and the ones that do pick up the phone have no idea what's going on
Staff are unprofessional, rude, and while on one call you could here someone laughing and chatting about giving their friend a oral sex last night!!!!! In the background of the call

No managers, all the options you call go to dead office and no answer the call rings off

No complaints department, I have been emailing now for over 3 months all with read receipts on and not one has been answered at all!!!
If you have any pets at any practice that is owned by them move away from that practice NOW because if you need any comeback you will not get any from this shower of sh#t!!!

IVC no loyalty and no customer service

Been with the same local vets for over 50 years, even had an account with them as very loyal to them, unfortunately they do not have the same principles to their customers now owned by IVC.
On day of appointment was shocked by cost but even more shocked by attitude to using my account as I have always done. Even though this may not be unusal to most paying on day when you have paid by account for 50 years and no one has informed me of the change, just shows how little they now value their customers.

IVC & Vets Now

IVC & Vets Now , one of its companies are truly horrendous. A complete lack of business ethics & fair play. They exploit their staff and customers.
Please note that this is not a reflection on the quality of care or skills of the dedicated veterinary staff.
Treatment of staff is diabolical. Clinical staff work excessively long shifts , often without breaks & are shattered & exhausted. The head office management are completely unsupportive & uncaring & manage staff by punitive actions such as threats to strike off staff & heavy handed & unnecessary disciplinary action. Breach ACAS guidance & employment law.
The fee structure is beyond extortionate & motivated by pure shareholder greed & contributing to pet neglect as owners can no longer afford emergency treatment.
Also , like many other unscrupulous organisations, suspect that they post fake online reviews to boost their ratings.
Sad to have had any association with this company & hope that cease trading.

not great

Awful prices, now my pet sick after visiting and now i have to go back to an emergency animal hospital after forking out for a routine checkup. Waiting area is small and full of large dogs which can cause unwarranted stress in small animals.

IVC are an appalling company

IVC are an appalling company. Since they’ve taken over our vets the standard of care has gone way down. All the vets employed are very young with no experience. The costs have gone up to ridiculous amounts making owning a dog virtually impossible. Their greedy ethos will force people into not providing vet care for their pets, leading to suffering and cruelty. The treatment of staff is also appalling. Long standing staff being made redundant who were professional and reliable. An absolutely abysmal company. Avoid at all costs.
