Brilliant five-star Service!

I collected my Hyundai i10 from JLC Motors and couldn’t have had a better experience. Both brothers were incredibly friendly, welcoming and genuinely helpful from start to finish.

James in particular was so efficient and reassuring, everything was explained clearly, nothing felt rushed, and the whole process was completely stress-free. It really felt like they cared about making sure I was happy and comfortable, not just making a sale.

A lovely, honest dealership with great customer service. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend JLC Motors and would happily buy from them again. Thank you both!

Excellent service buying a car …

Good morning to anyone that is reading this review ,I recently took a very big gamble and bought a car off this company for my grandson I hadn’t even seen the car I paid my £250 deposit to secure it ,even then I was extremely anxious and worried about this as I was in Plymouth and this car was in Essex ,not exactly around the corner , well can I just say James who was dealing with me was extremely understanding, and knew I was worried about parting with a large sum of money , he kept in regular contact with me by phone or email, told me when the car would be on its way I then parted with the money as it was a cash sale ,which he kindly gave me £200 off the price , even then I thought that’s it I have been scammed what am I doing here , but true to his word the car arrived , anyway things didn’t go quite as planned which I don’t really need to go into ,but yet again this young man was absolutely brilliant ,again kept in regular contact advising me and being so understanding about everything , never once lost his cool a really very professional young man who knew his trade very well and how to deal with customers , I can honestly say I was blessed to have met such a nice man who actually cares about people and not just in the trade to make money , we can’t thank him enough for sorting everything out for us so quickly , I would highly reccomend this Companh thank you so much James I hope your Company gets a great boost for customer care and empathy well done

Searched autotrader for a Honda Crv and…

Searched autotrader for a Honda Crv and found 1 at JLC MOTORS , contacted them and spoke to James who told me all about the car and service history of the vehicle . We then applied for Finance for the Car thought the garage and got accepted straight away . Mon the 14/07/25 , I contacted James again to inform him that we had got yhe finance for the car and could I pay the £99.00 reserve fee , I didn't want to lose the car . We then arranged for me to collect the car on Thursday 17/07/25 . I informed james that we were travelling up from the isle of wight by train , and straight away james offered to pick us up from the train station . When we got to the Wickford train station james picked us up and took us to the garage , I didn't feel pressured at all to purchase the car , we were left alone and within the hour we had a little test drive , didn't really need it after james told us all about the car , he is so knowledgeable about cars it's unbelievable, we then left within a hour with our new car .I cannot think james and his team for everything they did for us , and I will certainly be telling all my friends and family to go to them if they need another vehicle or are looking to change their vehicle, I will definitely be a returning customer without any hesitation. Thanks again

All I will say it don't buy off JLC

All I will say it don't buy off this company sold a car that clearly stated in there add full service history, only to find out when we needed to use warranty as there where few major issues after a few months off purchase we were told the car is in fact only part service history, all we got from there end it was our fault and problem, this was only brought as a second car as we have a disabled son who spends alot off time in hospital so another car was needed to get our other young kids to school, so we had no choice but had to spend over 2k to fix this car totally disgusting service and as usual reading other people's experiences he blames them and say they are lies etc I have also been in contact with trading standards and handed everything we had from messages and the correct add that he posted selling the car, let's say im not the only one who has been to trading standards they are looking into JLC and hopefully they can do something about false advertising a car fingers crossed, he also blocked my number

Hello Brett.
Really appreciate your review, however, I will now add the true circumstances of this situation as your review is quite misleading.
You purchased a car from us on finance. You then called us 6 months after purchase to notify us of an issue and said that you were trying to claim on your warranty policy, (which wasn’t purchased with us) and that to do so they require your service history, but you couldn’t seem to find it and had unfortunately lost it since collection of the car.
We then made a call to Essex Ford on your behalf to try and obtain the main dealer service history, to which they confirmed but wouldn’t provide as the car was not in our possession.
Your finance company also called us to see if we could help with this matter, to which we had explained that the service history was on file at Essex Ford, and maybe a call from them direct would help obtain the required history.
They assured us they would also make a call to them on your behalf, To which I am assuming they also had no luck in doing so.
Your finance company also had a full independent inspection carried out by Scotia on the vehicle to see if the mechanical issue that had arisen on your car, was present at point of sale. Here is a copy of the report;

The vehicle has covered some 6508 miles since purchase on 11.1.24. Our opinion is that the current symptoms are the result of a breach of the head gasket as a result of age-related wear and tear rather than a manufacturing defect, as the vehicle has covered some 6500 miles since the date of purchase leading us to conclusion that fault the developed after the point of purchase and therefore NOT the responsibility of the sales agents to rectify.
In simplistic terms the vehicle could not covered 6500 miles with a failed cylinder head gasket with the vehicle at the point of sale.
From past experience it is likely that the cylinder head will require refurbishing.

As you can see, the outcome of the report was that no underlying issues could have been present at point of sale otherwise the car would not have worked perfectly for 6 months and over 6500 miles.

Your finance company paid out and had this inspection performed with the intention of being able to hold us liable for the developing issue on the car, should it be deemed so, however, we were found to be in the clear and by all accounts, Scotia told your finance company that the car we sold you was in-fact a good car.
Therefore we had no responsibility to repair it at this stage.
We did try to help you right from the outset of your initial phone call as much as we could and worked exactly to the letter of the law.
Your finance company and Scotia both agreed that us (the dealer) was not responsible, and this is why we didn’t contribute to any repairs on your car.

We are sympathetic to your situation, however, we cannot be expected to maintain previous customers vehicles, especially after both Scotia and your finance company agreeing that we shouldn’t be held liable in this situation, nor can we be held liable if you loose your service history book given to you at time of sale.
Unfortunately, spending money on your car from time to time to maintain it is part and parcel of owning a vehicle.

You were also told this information from your finance company which is why you had to pay for the repair yourself.

Taking this into account, we find it highly unfair for you to leave us a bad review, but we are glad we can explain the full story which puts us morally and legally in the clear and shows we still work to the remit of the law.

Great experience top class trader!

Fantastic first experience buying from trade, James made sure everything was looked after on the car, getting it to the best standard possible,
Even fixing minor scuffs on the car which most traders wouldnt!
James was helpful friendly and not at all pushy.
I couldnt fault jlc motors and will definitely return in the future!
I cannot recommend jlc highly enough

This garage just has old bangers paid 1900 for a car when they knew it needed a new alternator the car was filthy inside and out called to advise after being told 30 days guarantee to be told no we don’t fix the car have contacted trading standards who were very interested in this company so be aware don’t buy anything from this guy he will be featured on rouge traders 1900 down the drain so do yourself a favour and stay clear also tell friends and family as nothing worse than being ripped off can not wait for him to get a visit in the next few days

Perfect experience with JLC

I gave JLC Motors a call and boy am I glad I did! The service was absolutely second to none from start to finish, I love my new car which was super clean, I’ve had it 3 months now and it’s been brilliant, will definitely be returning when I need a new car.

Great Experience

HIGHLY RECOMMEND JLC motors!

HIGHLY RECOMMEND using jlc motors!
I brought a Audi A3 from them, James & Darren made the whole process from viewing to delivery stress free and an overall great experience as this was my first car. Was a pleasure dealing with both James and Darren from start to finish, both great chaps! Car was immaculate and the service was 11/10 Can’t recommend them high enough! Overall pleasure dealing with them and a great experience thank you so much! Will for sure use them again in future!

Couldn’t be happier!

Thank you JLC Motors! Fantastic service from start to finish. Excellent customer service and brilliant knowledge. Went here enquiring about upgrading my car and they helped me all the way through. I’m so happy with the new car and received great service in exchanging the old car.

Thieving scum. One star is generous.

Absolute disgrace. Do yourself a favour and don’t ever purchase a vehicle from here. Blocked my number when I requested he fixed my partners car, this is not an isolated incident, please check trustpilot and you’ll see a review from someone else stating they have also been blocked.
He sold my partner an Audi TT with an air con compressor that didn’t work, claimed on warranty only to be told we’d still have to pay £212 , he couldn’t give a care in the world.
After 200 miles it seems both top mounts needed replacing, they were extremely worn and this should have been picked up.
Left her extremely upset on two occasions, once you’ve left the premises James and Harold Collingwood of JLC Motors Benfleet DO NOT CARE.
Also as a side note James tried to claim it’s “wear and tear” the warranty company won’t cover it - the car was sold with an autogroup wear and tear warranty!? I have the paperwork, he doesn’t even know what warranties he’s selling with the cars.
Even if it was “wear and tear” the consumer rights act 2015 states the product (car) must be fit for purpose for a reasonable period of time. James seems to think 200/300 miles is reasonable. So unless you want to be forking out over £400 less than 1 month after purchasing a car, please do not even interact with JLC Motors. You have been warned.
James seems to have flagged this review stating he hasn’t had a personal interaction with us. We can provide a bill of sale, bank statement and v5. If you want to run your business like a crook then don’t try and get people to remove reviews why they are honest!
I’m not the only person you’ve blocked!

Wow… Extremely shocked to read this review with its huge in-accuracies and lies!
There is two sides to every story, and here is ours.

Your Girlfriend (Jess Elphick) purchased a lovely little Audi TT from us. This was a 11 year old car with 88k and good history to go with it.
We MOT’d the car just before sale, to which the only advisory was the ‘front top mounts’.
6 weeks after purchase the ‘Air Con Compressor’ failed (wasn’t sold as broken) and a warranty claim was made, to which they agreed to cover the cost of parts and labour at £648.
Jess Elphicks issue at the time was that the part being used wasn’t an Audi part, even tho the warranty provider had explained that genuine parts only get fitted to cars with a maximum age of 10 years, and Jess Elphicks car was over 11 years old.

Jack Allen called us to explain that Jess Elphick wasn’t happy with the outcome of a full covered replacement (parts & labour) without a genuine part.
So as a ‘Gesture of Goodwill’ we contributed the extra amount (£182), transferred into Jess Elphicks account so a genuine part could be used. The job was carried out at zero cost to Jess Elphick.

Fast forward to 7 months of ownership, and Jack Allen calls again to let us know of a small knocking noise coming from the front of the vehicle. Jack has had it checked out and it’s the top mounts that were advised on the MOT carried out just before sale, which of-course is public information and not something that can be hidden.
Jack Allen then explained that the warranty company unfortunately wouldn’t cover the claim as the parts are ‘wear and tear’ items such as tyres, brakes and bushes and told us to pay for the repair of he would take us to court! (£140)

At this stage, we also couldn’t cover ‘wear and tear’ items after 7 months of ownership, and what I believe to be more than (Jack Allens) stated ‘300 miles’ of use over a 7 month period.
Because Jack Allen threatened us with court, we then instructed him to forward any correspondence to our solicitor, who would reply within 2 weeks. Jack Allen then got so abusive over the telephone, we had to block his number.

Jess Elphicks car started, drove, stopped and did exactly what it was supposed to do, and when it didn’t, (Air Con), it was fixed at no cost to Jess Elphick, but yet somehow we are apparently thieving scum?!

As a side note, I flagged Jack Allen’s review because Jack Allen had for some reason used my grandads name, who neither Jack Allen or Jess Elphick ever met, and has no involvement at all with JLC Motors.
