DISHONEST AND UNDER-HANDED SCAMMERS

Landal is THE worst company I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with.

I have never written a review before but I’m so appalled by this company that I feel compelled to warn others so they don’t suffer from Landal’s under-handed and dishonest practices.

If you are considering booking a holiday with Landal, do so at your own peril! Don’t be fooled by their website. Landal sell holidays that DO NOT EXIST! They will take your hard earned money for said ‘holiday’, send you a lovely confirmation email and ask you to download their app to book activities at the park. Once you have done this and your family are all really looking forward to that break you are so desperate for, you will receive an email informing you that your booking has been cancelled due to a ‘technical error.’ In truth, the holiday was never available in the first place and despite this, they will continue to advertise the same holiday on their website for many days, even after you have made them aware of this. What an ingenious way of taking people’s money and earning interest from it.

Landal will not even have the decency to call you to tell your holiday has been cancelled but will let you (hopefully) discover the email that they send to you just a few days before your holiday is due to start! So, if you’ve already booked through Landal, be sure to check your spam folder or you may discover after hours of travelling to your holiday destination, that your booking has been cancelled.

It clearly states in Landal’s booking terms and conditions that your booking is a legally binding contract with no 14 day cooling off period. If you cancel your holiday within 30 days of arrival, you will lose every penny. However, despite this, Landal can apparently cancel your holiday completely penalty free, just days before you are due to travel.

To add insult to injury, Landal refuses to refund your money in a timely manner, so after you’ve been told your holiday has been cancelled, don’t expect your money back for at least a week. Thus denying you of your funds and opportunity to book another holiday. If you call them to discuss the matter, they will promise you a call back but it won’t materialise. If you ask them to find you an alternative holiday, they will offer you a holiday that is far more expensive than the one you originally booked, but they won’t cover the extra cost, even though it’s their error and they are in breach of their own terms and conditions. Or if you’re really lucky, they might offer you a holiday for just a few hundred pounds more that’s of an inferior quality or for a shorter duration, in a totally different area of the country! You will not be offered a sensible level of compensation and even their most senior staff have no authority but to offer a measly and insulting 10 percent off a future booking. Absolutely useless to my family as we will NEVER book through this company again. Who in their right mind would actually accept this after being treated in this way?

We’ve recently suffered from a family bereavement and really needed a holiday to destress and reset ourselves emotionally. I informed Landal of this and asked for my concerns to be raised as a formal complaint. Landal really surpassed my expectations here and informed me I would need to write to them. Thank you Landal, this is most helpful and will really improve my levels of stress at this already difficult time.

So, I’m left with no money (as I’m still awaiting my refund), no holiday and a very upset child. I was due to travel in 4 days. Please don’t fall victim to the same cruel scam that Landal are profiteering from. I don’t know how they are getting away with what they are doing but Landal are a Dutch company so your contract with them is covered under Danish Law, likely discouraging most from taking legal action. Once Landal are in possession of your money, their call centre staff will just keep repeating the same information. They won’t be able to draw your attention to the specific or relevant section of their terms and conditions that allows them to cancel your holiday once you have received your booking confirmation. Such a condition does not exist and despite acknowledging that ‘force majure’ does not cover their own ‘technical errors’, Landal still refuses to compensate me properly for their failings and incompetencies.

BUYER BEWARE. PLEASE DON’T BECOME LANDAL’S NEXT VICTIM.

Paid £1200 to become a cleaner for Landal Green Parks

We stayed at Piperdam Golf & Leisure Resort Dundee.
Where to start. Paid the best part of £1200 for a three night stay. For that we expected 5 Star accommodation but sadly for us the cleanness of our cabin was bordering on disgusting. First sight of the cabin was the front door, all the varnish was pilling off and I remember saying I hope it gets better than this. We took our bags straight in to the bedroom's only to find both of the wardrove cupboard doors were hanging off there runners. The carpet in the hall way was dirty and the first part of it had been replace with a different color one and that was also dirty / stained and frayed too. Cobwebs' in most corners of the ceilings and even a rotting biscuit covered with a cobweb in the corner of one of the bedrooms. The windows where terrible, marks all over them and the top round one in the main room looked like its never been clean. Two of the lights over the food "preparation area" were not working and the cables for them are covered with thick dust running right up to the ceiling. The imitation wood burner has thick dust under it. The furniture is old and worn, so are the dining table chairs with the covering falling apart, the chairs still had food crumbs on them so did the floor. Holes in the walls where the Curtain holders once where. More cobwebs and dirt on the floor in the bathroom and part of the vinyl flooring was screwed down . We invited some of our family to enjoy the three days with us and they were arriving soon, if not I would have refused to stay here. In the end we had to rush around and clean the place as best as we could ourselves . Remember I paid £1200 for these three days and for that I could have stayed in a top class five star hotel with all food included. Doesn't the management ever check on the cleanliness and the condition of these cabins, obviously in this case they didn't . Of course I would never recommend this place to anyone.

Such a lovely break !!

We have just come back from a lovely 4 day break at Landal north lakes in aspartia and it was absolutely beautiful , we stayed in the Wellington, the cabins were just absolutely gorgeous and sooo private 😍 the hot tub was just to die for. The cabin catered for absolutely everything you could possibly want or need ! When we arrived we had some lovely welcome gifts such as shortbread, hot chocolate, milk, butter, bread, jams. There were a couple of reasons why I’ve not marked it 5*. 1. was because of the check in time being 5pm, in winter is awful, far too late because it’s dark at that time and the postcode takes you directly to someone’s garden, we ended up turning round in their garden, so it really wasn’t easy to find in the dark so we only got there (found it) at 6pm so we hadn’t much of a night, not only that, by the time we eventually arrived we were so stressed through getting lost with our 4 month old baby in the car who was also due for feeding at 5. 2. A couple of maintenance issues in the cabin, one of which meant every time we came back from the hot tub it woke our sleeping baby. 3. On the first night the handle to the hot tub snapped when we were just looking at the tub, so that ruined our first night and following day until I found out they were aware it was bad and they were waiting on a new cover but I was panicking thinking I was going to be charged for it and I’m currently on maternity so really couldn’t afford anything like that to happen. Maybe we should have been made aware you were waiting for a new cover so if anything did happen like it did we would have known not to worry. We also had a drama when booking this due to misinformation which caused us to initially cancel our pre booking but that was from Hoseasons not Landal, a lovely Landal agent contacted me and sorted it all out so we rebooked
Although the above was frustrating it wasn’t enough to stop us staying here again. If we were going to look at staying in the Lakes again we would definitely be booking here. It’s one of the nicest cabins we’ve ever stayed in. Thank you so much xx

AVOID

WOW, this place is unbelievable and not for anything positive. Firstly, you cannot check in till 4pm for "cleaning" purposes, when we arrived at our dedicated lodge, we were met with the most disgusting of wet dog smells that was completely over powering and actually made us feel sick. We travelled with a 9 mouth old baby and as you can imagine all they want to do is be on the floor, we allowed him on the carpet for no longer than 15 mins and when I picked him up he was covered in dog hairs on his cloths, hands and even face but again you cannot check in till 4pm to allow for "cleaning" and you would think this would be a priority during COVID but no. We had a lady come out from management and even she agreed that it smelt and could do with another hoover, however we were moved to another lodge that at a glance looked ok and didn't smell !! then as the day went on we started noticing the spiders and they where everywhere. This might not seem much of an issue at first glance as you are in the countryside but when there is one on every window externally and 2/3 in every room you start to wonder if it had been cleaned at all. When making the bed my partner even found one in the bed now no one wants to sleep with spiders crawling on them. The final straw was about 30 mins after putting our 9 month old down, I went in to check on him and discovered A SPIDER INSIDE THE COT!!! this is completely unacceptable considering all the story's in the news lately of children ending up in A&E from spider bites. The time then was 8:15 pm and we AGAIN rang reception and they said someone will be out to remove the spiders but at this point it had become dangerous for my son, we gave them 30 mins and no one had turned up, so we began to pack the car up and left at 9;30pm (still no one had turned up to sort the situation). We had to get the baby out of bed and drive home 3 hours away, we booked here to try and get away after a stressful year during COVID and got this. Further more we raised a complaint with the site and they told us we will receive some sort of correspondence within 7-10 days, its now been 20 days and I had to ring the site three times this week before i could speak to a manager. the complaint procedure from woodland lake lodges is an absolute JOKE and so unprofessional. Following from a telephone conversation with Scott, we received an email offering £25 and 10% off a future booking and as you could imagine I almost fell off my chair, never been so insulted by an email in all my life. PLEASE AVIOD THIS SITE AT ALL COSTS. I have now advised my parents who have been to this site a few times, to not bother anymore as not only are the lodges not clean there invested with spiders and there customer care/service is laughable. Please do not make the same mistakes we did and definitely if you have young children avoid this place!!!!!!!!

Unfair contract terms

Booked a break, but cancelled due to not wanting to leave UK during covid. Landal managed to sell my accommodation to another customer but still kept my deposit of approximately £400. When challenged on legal requirements for fair contact terms, the customer services were totally uninterested and wouldn't answer my queries, just told me that's their terms. Not a nice company, I will never use them again and will take my case to a consumer rights group.

Peace, tranquility, and luxury.

We have just returned from an amazing stay in one of the Landal Rockingham Forest Park lodges. If you are looking for peace and tranquility in beautiful grounds with forest walks and wildlife this is for you.
The lodges are very comfortable with a luxury feel, very well equipped and thoughtfully planned.
After a busy day sightseeing the pretty villages and towns what could be better than sitting on the terrace with a cold beer or glass of wine watching the sun set over the fields.
If you are looking for an action packed site this is not for you but if you want to feel relaxed and recharged look no further!
The little store on site is an Aladdin's cave of local produce and essentials.
The ladies who run it deserve a special mention as they are so friendly and informative plus their take away coffee is great!
We will be looking to rebook again soon.
The staff are always smiling and helpful, Well done team Landal Rockinham Forest Park!

I haven't even been yet and I'm fuming!

I haven't even been yet and I'm fuming!

I booked 'The Sutton' lodge in May based on how nice it looked from the photos. I've since seen the photos have been updated to a very basic lodge as it would appear they were for illustration purposed only - but they look nothing alike! (huge downgrade).

I've since called them on all their numbers 10+ times but no one picks up for 20 mins and then the phone goes dead. I've also emailed them and no one is getting back to me.

All I want to do is cancel a mis-sold holiday but no one is there to even pick up a phone to talk to me. Very frustrating.

Avoid!

Disgusting worst place we ever stayed, cobwebs and dust all around bed, cleaners came back but made no impact, to ceiling cobwebs as in there words “no extension poles for Hoover’s” spiders everywhere, bedroom, showers just disgraceful.

£5.5k for a ‘lodge’ for a week

£5.5k for a ‘lodge’ for a week. That’s um.. insane.

The definition of ‘Covidiots’ needs to be expanded to include those who extort on the back of the pandemic.

When things open up we’ll go to Atlantis The Palm instead thanks. It’s the same budget.

We had the most relaxing getaway

We had the most relaxing getaway. Everything you need is thought of in your lodge. It's so nice to stay somewhere which very quickly feels like home. The finishing touches really made all the difference. The woodlands surrounding us just added that sense of serenity. The shop also is fantastic, the best coffee I've ever had! I would definitely recommend! Thanks a million!

Staying at Landal Rockingham Park…

Staying at Landal Rockingham Park Forest was extremely refreshing and felt like it was a home away from home. It has a very comfortable relaxing decor, being surrounded by nature is a definite plus and ideal when you are looking to get away from the humdrum of everyday life and for some quiet time. We did a trail in the woods which was lovely and private. The hot tub was the absolute best feature , my 8 year old did not want to leave! Highly recommend this staycation :))

We loved Landal Green Park at Kenwick the accommodation was clean and quiet, we had a hot tub outside and space for our car. The gym and pool facilities were fantastic and staff so friendly and helpful. We were able to explore the nearby areas and our whole stay was very enjoyable. Wi Fi was poor in the accommodation but it didn’t matter. Would definitely return
