The location is good

The location is good, but there were no shades. And the sunbeds were very poor (no mat, which is uncomfortable for people that seek to sunbathe most of the day).
The chef was overpriced.
Cleaning was good.
Heated pool and jacuzzi were a nice touch, but the house has no privacy as you can wal in to the lawn of the neighbours, and when in the jacuzzi everyone around your ouse can see you.

In principle all went well

In principle all went well. The ice making machine was not operational but later fixed. The cleaning lady was not given enough time to clean (2 hrs.) but this was later extended.

A Beautiful Villa, but Poor Service and Misplaced Priorities

Our family spent a week at Mas Beausoleil in Provence. The villa itself was beautiful, spacious, and well-suited to our needs. We also greatly enjoyed the additional activities booked through Le Collectionist – in particular, the truffle hunting experience was truly memorable.

Unfortunately, the service provided by Le Collectionist staff fell well short of the standard one would expect from a company presenting itself as a luxury hospitality provider.

We arrived to find two showers completely clogged, causing flooding on our first night, alongside two bathrooms that were unusable for the first 24 hours. Later, the pool cover malfunctioned, leaving the pool unsafe and unusable for days. Housekeeping, for which we paid extra, was inadequate – we had to insist on the most basic tasks such as cleaning toilets and emptying bins, and were eventually told we should purchase our own toilet paper.

What stood out most, however, was the stark contrast between the eagerness to collect payments and the lack of urgency to ensure guest comfort. Payment for the villa was required fully upfront, including a sizeable security deposit. Yet when problems arose, our wellbeing seemed secondary. At the end of our holiday, instead of accountability, we were met with further demands for charges relating to the villa’s maintenance. These issues were clearly the responsibility of the property itself, yet Le Collectionist chose to defend the owner and pressure us as clients, rather than advocate for us.

The impression left is that Le Collectionist’s loyalty lies not with their guests but with property owners, even when the latter are clearly in the wrong. For a company claiming to deliver high-end hospitality, this imbalance is deeply disappointing.

I would like to note, however, that one staff member, Guest Relation Advisor in Marseille, was kind and understanding in her communication, and we appreciated her approach.

While the villa itself was lovely and Provence unforgettable, the service we received from Le Collectionist ensured that this will be our first and last experience with them.

Dear Yuval,

We are glad to read that you enjoyed both the villa itself and the concierge activities you booked during your stay.

We also acknowledge that some issues arose and inevitably impacted your overall experience, and we're sorry for that. In situations like these, our role is to act as an intermediary between guests and owners, seeking solutions and ensuring that matters are handled as fairly and transparently as possible. We regret if at any point you felt that we were siding with the owners, as this was never our intention. In this case, both plumbing and pool cover issues were resolved within 24 hours, and we ultimately ensured that the cover repair was taken care of under the owner’s insurance.

We are nevertheless aware that even when problems are solved quickly, the inconvenience can still affect the way a stay is experienced. This is why our teams remain committed not only to coordinating technical solutions, but also to supporting guests throughout, so they feel heard and accompanied (as you yourself kindly acknowledged with regard to the Guest Relations support you received).

We thank you for sharing your feedback, which has been passed on to both our teams and the property owners to support ongoing improvements.

Kind regards,

Marion – Le Collectionist

Sifnos Villa Rental

My partner rented Villa Leger, Sifnos in June for a romantic getaway to celebrate his birthday. It is indeed a beautiful villa but there were several issues which absolutely spoilt the whole week. It should be noted that the villa can be rented via the owners' website "The Wheatfield House" and is also with other agencies one of which calls it Villa Echo. Therein lies the problem and where Le Collectionist have cleverly covered their bases. Each website lists some or all of the facilities available at the villa. So when we arrived expecting a 5* villa experience with 5* facilities we were more than disappointed. Discrepancies with what was included on their website vs the others became woefully apparent:
- A cat which supposedly could "go on holiday" if guests wanted/had allergies transpired to be a non negotiable package deal as the cat helps keep snakes and vermin at bay and was there waiting. Our request for its temporary removal was not adhered to and Le Collectionist tried to deny that we had requested this. As my partner has other known pet hair allergies we had asked for this, to be on the safe side. Le C had promised something they couldn't deliver.
- A sophisticated sound system described on the owner's website as serving the sitting room and pool area only served the pool. Guests with Spotify could link to the TV but the owner admitted it was very complex and needed an app downloading. We were there during the worst winds (47km) which lasted most of the holiday, and unable to use the outside area for music & swimming and no way of playing romantic music for the birthday dinner.
- The appliances were very complicated to use and as the owners had informed us they would be passing by to drop off some items before leaving the island I asked how they worked and videoed the owner's wife struggling to switch on the hob too. Their "drop off" was actually an invasion of the privacy we had paid for. Apparently, they had spent the previous days prior to our arrival there so why the need to return?
- The oven was so complex with it's own timer system which prevented the door opening until cooking completed. I had to change the special dinner menu or risk not being able to check on items in the oven
- For 3 nights we were up and outside several times trying to secure furniture being thrown across balconies, identifying/securing banging shutters and doors, and preventing pool furniture/
mattresses being blown into the pool as we could well have been accused of breaking things
- The pool was described variously on the websites as heated or heatable but locally we were told it wasn't possible as it would take too long and be too expensive.
So, no heated pool, no sleep, no music, no original favourite menu for romantic dinner.

There is more:
- Dodgy electrics - electric front gate kept jamming, kitchen lights kept flashing off and on, and the master switch to turn off downstairs lights would plunge upstairs into darkness too
- No dim lighting possibilities - very bright lights everywhere - bedroom included, no candles
- Expensive coffee machine lay semi broken next to an inadequate Nespresso machine offered instead
- One of the bathroom sinks was blocked
- The master bedroom bed was situated on a raised stone floor area and on one side the clearance getting out of bed was dangerous. If you have long legs you would miss the ledge and fall to the "next level." In general, the villa has many steps, levels and staircases (without rails for the "design" look) and t is not really suitable for small children or older guests
- Should be noted that the 2 other guest rooms are in a separate outbuilding so any people with younger children might find this unsuitable

When I addressed some of the concerns to the owner he was dismissive and at times rude to me. Le Collectionist tried to get the local rep to rectify things (he was very helpful) but some were unable to be fixed or rectified and a few candles and a CD player was their answer to helping obtain the ambiance for the romantic birthday dinner.

When we took all this up with Le Collectionist, they considered our issues "inconveniences" (which, let's face it they were not). They had ruined the holiday. Again, a somewhat dismissive attitude from them and their idea of some gesture of goodwill or compensation was Euros 500 towards another (!) holiday with them! They offered us the opportunity to go to a French tourism tribunal type solution but, as they are a French company ruled by French law and we are English.... let's say probably not odds in our favour. Best just to ensure no-one else has a similar experience.

We have stayed in many luxury rentals also commanding a five figure weekly rental and never encountered anything like this. The experience was far from luxury and there are better rental companies and villas out there.

Dear Julia,

We are sincerely sorry to read that your stay did not meet the expectations you had for such a special occasion.

Please allow us to clarify the approach we took when addressing your concerns. As with every claim, our goal was to acknowledge the inconveniences while also keeping the discussion fair and proportionate to the nature of the issues encountered. While some of the points raised were indeed inconveniences that could not be immediately resolved during your stay (such as the strong winds or the complexity of certain appliances), others related to the description of facilities or the presence of the cat, which understandably impacted your comfort.

As you also mentioned in your review, our local team did everything they could to remain responsive and to provide solutions whenever possible. Taking all these elements into account, our Guest Relations service proposed a gesture of goodwill in the form of a credit towards a future stay. We believed this represented a reasonable recognition of the issues you experienced.

In parallel, and in order to give you full recourse, we also offered the possibility of independent mediation via the French Tourism Ombudsman (“médiateur”), which is the standard neutral channel available in such circumstances. This option is designed to provide an impartial review of the situation and to guarantee transparency, should our proposal not seem sufficient to you.

We are truly sorry that neither our gesture nor the mediation option met your expectations. Please be assured that your feedback has been taken seriously, and that it has already been shared internally and with the villa’s owners so that improvements can be made.

With kind regards,

Marion - Le Collectionist

3 weeks in heavenly Mykonos

Le Collectionnist has made our stay in Mykonos a pure bliss. I am short of word to tell how much this trip was memorable for our family. The Villas are properly selected, you have a dedicated concierge service (Kim and Nicole were stellar) organising your reservations at beach club, car transfers, boat trips and much more. We had a chef Nikos (sourced by Le Collectionnist) who made fantastic dishes all along. Thanks again Le Collectionnist, you will see us again !!!!

Once in a lifetime divine

Once in a lifetime divine! The Foz do Duoro property is artfully designed in a wonderful, walkable location. Everything is private and perfectly maintained. The landscaping, amenities, pool, kitchen, games are all thoughtfully chosen. The beds are so comfortable we are ordering one for our home. The on site house manager, Webert Rufino, is an angel and was always helpful yet unobtrusive, throughout our stay. He reserved banana bread and sourdough for us from the best bakery as a kind gesture each week. Theo and the concierge team were best before and at the beginning of the trip, helping manage reservations, massages, bikes and chefs. Our primary complaint was the coordination and logistics of paying each chef. We paid a deposit to Le Collectionist but then chef would buy all of the groceries and we would have to pay at the end of dinner. Some wanted cash, some wanted us to download and app and put in our personal info. It was very disorganized and only one of the 3 chef's stayed within the budget. If your team could streamline the logistics with chefs that would make these special nights much more enjoyable. Especially after wine and a good meal, I don't want to haggle with the chef. Also each one was quite formal in presentation despite the fact that we told them to keep it simple, so we often felt like models for their instagram accounts. A bit much.

Luxury marketing with a 2 star service

It’s 8 pm on a Saturday and we have been waiting since Tuesday for an email from the manager of the property we are staying at, regarding compensation. We payed a premium rate for a property in Hendaye that was left in a terrible state, including, but not limited to: dirty dishes, dirty cutlery, mantels with bird excrements, a broken washing machine and many more. I can provide pictures of all things mentioned. Luxury rental company, managed like a 2 star hostel. Would not recommend.

A beautiful stay with some comments and easy fixes.

Generally the villa was very nice and the location was great. I have a few observations:-
* The electricity was cut off on nearly 5 occasions. This is not acceptable for a property of that size and status. There should be some alternative such as generators if this is a common occurrence.
* Some of the reservations were not done correctly. The one to Mesa Restaurant was cancelled and we had to make a last minute change once we arrived at the Restaurant. Also the timing of the wine tasting was sent to me as 4 pm but the reservation with the place was at 5pm. Also the hair dresser was not of the quality that you would pay Euro 85 and then they charged for a sculp treatment that was not requested. And finally they charged a cancellation when it was clear that she could not have handled a second person . Generally disappointing with the choice of hair dresser.
* There should be tissue paper in the villa.

Great family experience in South of France

A great family experience (multi-generational party of 9) in the south of France (vicinity of Toulon & Hyeres)! The property had a stunning view with a strong mix of charm and modern amenities. The Collectionist team was responsive and highly attentive to our needs. They helped us organize a dinner with a private chef - this was one of the highlights of our stay.
