First of everyone report this company…

First of everyone report this company to trading standards as advised by my bank to get them stopped and you’ll have more chance of a possible refund.

I accidentally used this website to renew my license. I typed in www.renewdriving license.gov.uk and I clicked on the first link assuming I was on the government website.

Unbeknown to me, until the end, when I read that I would receive a confirmation email from licensesafe.co.uk I wasn’t aware that it was a different company. This raised a red flag and I checked my transactions and seen I was charged 93 pounds instead of the 14 pounds quoted on the letter.

This is absolutely disgusting there’s no warning that it’s a different website and there’s a service charge you don’t make people aware of the amount and there’s no way of knowing what your being charged. Until I’ve been on it again and right at the bottom in small print where you wouldn’t think to look they state they are a third party company.

How they think this is acceptable and can get away with it is beyond me.

I’m a single parent on benefits and currently furloughed that money is for food for my family. I’ve seen on trustpilot I’m not the only person they've done this to.

Absolutely ridiculous and painful

Absolutely ridiculous and painful, changed my address and that was my first time, didn't know it's free of charge, but l went to www.g (which is don't let me to type official government website ) so l realised it's official website which l was sure , but at the end request for £79 to pay .
No DVLA contact number then finally found live chat , been told by DVLA we can't help , they can't help to refund but they definitely can help others to stop third parties inquiries.

I have already written a review having…

I have already written a review having been a victim of this scam. Can someone tell me if I should reapply for my license through DVLA or sign and return the form License Safe generated through the DVLA telling me to cut up and return my old driving license. Is the form from the DVLA or License Safe? It is very worrying.

WHY IS THIS COMPANY NOT STOPPED???

This company is posing as government run operation - the DVLA - it should be stopped! Google should be ashamed of taking money to let this business advertise using DVLA as a search word and then present it on screen next to a large logo of the DVLA and all it's bona fide details. I have reported this to Action Fraud, please do the same. The information commissioners office should also be contacted as they are no doubt selling our passport numbers and national insurance numbers as we speak. My bank told me to immediately register with CIFAS which alerts banks and other lenders if someone steals your identity and tries to set up an account. I'm so cross with myself for being scammed as usually quite savvy. I think Google should be held partially to account here for taking their money and setting them above the real DVLA link....

Simply awful company to transact with

Simply awful company to transact with - be extremely vigilant if you are not seeking their full service. I simply tried to change the address on my driving licence assuming I was on the DVLA website, and got duped into a fee for £79. The cost should be zero.
No contact number, but sheer perseverance by email ensured I got my money back.
Offered £10, £20, £30 and £40 refunds over a period of days until finally getting a full refund in 2 parts after about a week. All communication has the feeling of ‘standard’ letters about them.
Don’t be put off, just be patient and apply pressure. Had flagged it to my credit card company to investigate and advised them of such.

I had a similar experience as many…

I had a similar experience as many others on here. Since they weren't able to process my licence after much haggling and receiving numerous "Template E mails" I managed to get 90% of my money back. My main concern is that this website now has all my personal information NI Passport D/L number, and visa card details.Such an unscrupulous company could possibly "sell on" my personal details. I have reported the incident to my bank and have been assured that no future payments will be made if this company tries to get anymore money in the future. I have E mailed DWP , and DVLA. The passport office has told me to re new my passport as a precautionary measure but the cost is prohibitive at the moment and I still have time on my current PP. I have notified Action Fraud and am now looking into contacting CIFAS to get identity protection,.This website needs to be removed although I am sure the company will claim some legal right to keep it. The whole incident has caused a great deal of stress

A total scam!!!!! Don't use!!!

This website is a scam, and is listed under many names! Please check you are on the official government website before applying for a licence!!! My husband has just been charged £113 from this dodgy company for my daughter's driving licence. The company name appearing on the bank account will appear as 'licence safe', but they are listed on the internet with numerous names from what I can gather, having been onto various websites now to check this out. Paying £113 for something which should be £34 is infuriating, and shouldn't be legal! To say my husband is angry is putting it mildly, and the bank are refusing to give us a refund. This site needs closing down immediately!

Editing to say this is even worse than it first seems; after paying them the money to set up the licence, they now say they CAN'T actually get the licence, so will refund the money we need to pay to the government (£34) so we can set it up ourselves!!!??? Ummm......... so not only did we pay over the odds, we actually paid for this company to do absolutely nothing, seeing as they've kept every penny of the other £113 they took from our bank account!!!! This REALLY IS a scam. Trading Standards here we come...................

Fraud

I have been fooled by this company. I still cannot believe as I am normally so carefull. This website should be closed. I have realised immediately my error. I have send now 5 e-mails already, receiving the same response as other described. Nobody is state of mind would pay £93 for £14 service provided by DVLA. I am so worried as well about my personal data and how they will use it in the future. I have already contacted my bank and reported fraud. Thank you for everyone comments below, it help you are not on your own.

Furious

I ordered my sons provisional licence as a surprise for his Birthday yesterday and did it through what I thought was the official DVLA website for £34. Today I have been charged £113 for this by Licence Safe. I contacted by bank straight away (Halifax) and was told there is nothing they can do as this is a piggy back company and when you go to the DVLA website it is redirected to this company. They said it was my fault for using this site. I have emailed Licence Safe and asked for my money back on the grounds of 14 days cooling off period for online purchases but haven't heard back from them yet. I have also emailed the Trading Standards office as this is totally unacceptable not knowing who is receiving personal information. Totally gutted and hoping to get a refund but very wary of applying for another licence for my son.

Also Duped by this scam company…

Also Duped by this scam company stealing money from innocent people believing they are on the DVLA website. For 10 year renewal. Uploaded all the details needed to process thinking I was paying £14.
However £93 taken. Contacted my bank and the company and demanded they cancel and refund payment with hours of finding out my mistake. Then entered into Email tennis first with Daniel then Jennifer.

Bordering criminal

My 17 year old son applied for his provisional licence having been led to this page via goggle. He did so as a genuine mistake, believing he was on the DVLA website. Only when he paid, and got charged £113 did he realise his genuine error. Within literally 5 minutes, if not sooner, we contacted the company highlighting the mistake. As a result I became embroiled in an endless stream of emails from their laughable customer care team. The emails were generic nonsense, rude, denying and unhelpful. Only due to my utter persistence did end I up with a part (£40) refund, but only after almost begging. My son is an apprentice and these people have taken almost a weeks money for a service of what appears to be nothing! Ironically, but unsurprisingly, the application, which they processed, has now arrived as unable to progress due to insufficient detail. They are useless. Avoid, avoid, avoid.

SCAMMERS!!!

Same thing happened to me. I thought I was on the DVLA website. Licence Safe charged me £99 when I was expecting to pay just £20 for a replacement licence. I recommend you contact your bank's fraud department straight away. Don't bother trying to negotiate with the company, its a waste of time. My bank managed to get them to reimburse me the full £99 so I ended up not even paying for my new license card!
