Poor support after rental

Hire itself was fine.

There was some damage incurred to the car during the rental which Liigu kept the deposit for, not a problem.

Now struggling with support after the rental, who are just not responding to repeated requests for a rental agreement PDF so that I can make a claim on my excess insurance. I've emailed several times and called twice during the last two weeks. On the phone they say they will escalate the case and send the docs but they have not done so. Very annoying for such a simple request.

Delayed Late Night Arrival with No Hassles

I arrived late at night but had no worries that I would get access to my car through keyless entry. I took a video of the car (in the dark) and then looked in the morning to find all dents and scratches were highlighted with stickers, alleviating any fears that I would be charged for damage that I had not spotted. Drop off is not through rental returns, but through the direct access car park, making my trip with suitcases to departures simple. Highly recommended. I will use again.

Convenient & easy way to rent a car

We recently rented a car for two weeks from Nice airport and had a hassle-free experience.

We origin booked a Ford Focus, but noticed that it had been switched to a Toyota Yaris Cross a few days before collection. This wasn't an issue since it was an equivalent size vehicle.

Having arrived into Terminal 2, the app notified us to collect the vehicle from the P3 car park at Terminal 1.
A short (free) tram ride and we found the car and were on our way. The car was quite new and in good condition with a few minor marks on the exterior. As others have advised, we videoed the car before setting off to ensure we had a record of the condition. The only disappointment was having to pay €5.80 to exit the car park- hopefully in future Liigu can agree an arrangement with the car park operators to prevent their customers from needing to pay for any pre-collection and post drop-off parking fees.

The app worked well throughout- occasionally, the app would believe the vehicle was locked or unlocked when it wasn't, but it only needed to be sent a lock or unlock command to resync.

Drop-off was equally convenient, with a choice of car park for each terminal building.

The security deposit was refunded in full within 72 hours of the rental end. Given all transactions were handled in EUR, we dropped lucky with the exchange rates and card fees (Chase Bank) and the refund was cost neutral.

Overall, it was a convenient, modern and cost-effective way to rent a car abroad. I would certainly use Liigu again in the future.

Steer clear

I uploaded my verification documents in good time but no verification occurred right up to the point when I was due to pick up the car at my destination, despite my having emailed the company about this - an email that was unanswered. With no access to the essential app, I called the service centre from my destination abroad - I imagine at my expense - and had to wait several minutes for a human reply. Thereafter the connection between app and car was intermittent, one time leaving me at the head of an irate petrol station queue as I attempted to start the car, hopefully without waiting a quarter of an hour for a useless bot. Stranded in the countryside at one point due to zero communication between app and car, I had to wait over 15 minutes between first contact with the service centre and resolution. Such an event could put a vulnerable person in a dangerous situation and was at best an infuriating occurrence. The whole experience with Liigu tarnished my week’s holiday and I would not recommend this company at all.

Review

From pick up to drop off this service was extremely efficient. We did not have to wait around for anyone, as soon as we received the information if where the car was via the app we set off and were able to begin our holiday. We didn't even need to wait around for handover of a key as my phone worked via Bluetooth as a key to the car which was great. A day before we had to drop it back off we received the location of where to park the car, I took a video of the car to send to the company and received my deposit back within 3 days. Would definitely recommend this company and I will use them again if I ever need to hire a car.

Great costumer service

Great costumer service.
Only cons is key less car rental...problems when you drop the car on the parking where they require key...at the big concrete (underground) parking no reception on the phone and problems with connection between car and the phone starts.

Do not use this company.Rented a car from Liigu from Lyon…

Rented a car from Liigu from Lyon Airport in July 2024. The worst car hire company that I have ever experienced. Details of the shuttle pickup are supposed to be delivered to the app 15 minutes before you land. All I received was a number to call. After several attempts where the phone was not answered I spoke to them and was advised to go to Lyon Train Station and ask for provisional parking. Needless to say a term not recognised by the railway staff. The London help centre didn't answer their phone. It took 2 hours to finally get a shuttle and to rub salt in the wound I was then charged €50 for a late rental. Despite frequent emails to Liigu customer support to complain I have still not received a reply nearly 3 weeks later. A terrible company

Very convenient and efficient

Very convenient, same as with car sharing. Car was clean and ready for pick-up. No issues during our vacation in Italy. Deposit was returned approx. one week after end of rental. Only negative is that we had to pay €5.50 for the parking when we picked up the car. Not sure if it will be reimbursed as they have not answered me in the mail I sent to them. But still good everything considered.

First and last time use Liigu

Not many reviews online about this company, so I hope my horrible experience helps others make an informed decision.

I booked a car to collect at Orly airport. The pick-up location wasn’t in the rental car area but in a remote car park, requiring a long walk.

The app that was supposed to unlock the vehicle didn’t work. I tried to get help through their WhatsApp and phone calls, but nobody responded for two hours! Keep in mind, the phone number I called was the one Liigu provides for accidents or emergencies. It’s alarming to think about what might happen if a customer faced a real emergency (e.g., injuries) and received no support from the company.

Traveling with a baby, I had no choice but to rent a car from another company to continue our journey.

Later, I formally complained to the company, but their responses were robotic and lacked empathy.

They blamed my fully functional card for not being able to charge the deposit, which they claimed led to the booking being suspended. This issue was only communicated to me very late (early morning on the day of travel) and could have been resolved with better customer support.

I’m very disappointed with Liigu. This will definitely be my last time using their service.

We are very sorry to hear about your experience. After reviewing your booking, I see that our support team notified you on July 29th about not being able to charge the deposit for your rental. Unfortunately, we did not receive a response from you.
As stated in our booking process, we inform customers that the deposit must be charged before the rental begins. We attempted to process the deposit five times, but each attempt was declined by your card.

As outlined in our booking process, it is essential to have sufficient funds available for the deposit as we cannot rent the vehicle without the deposit. We attempted to process the deposit multiple times and informed you of this issue well before the rental's pick-up time. Given this situation, a late cancellation fee has been applied in accordance with our terms of service. Specifically, our policy states: "If you cancel your rental less than 24 hours before the scheduled pick-up time, you will be charged a Cancellation Fee and refunded any amount previously paid that exceeds the Cancellation Fee."

We have refunded the amount paid for the car, minus the cancellation fee. While we understand this resolution may not be ideal, we did notify you of the deposit issue in advance and made multiple attempts to process it without success. Unfortunately we must follow our policies to ensure equal treatment for all customers.

We apologise for any confusion and for the lack of timely support you experienced when trying to contact us on the day of your rental. Our goal is to provide prompt assistance, and it’s clear that we fell short in this instance.

Unjustified delay in the deposit…

Unjustified delay in the deposit refund. Almost one week after I left the car and the money is not yet in my bank account. The Helpdesk by WhatsApp don’t answer or the answer is too late without any feasible answer about the issue. Wait cannot be a acceptable answer always

We take 72 hours to inspect the vehicle for any damages, and once that’s done, we process the refund immediately. Fast and efficeint pick up and drop off.

The pick up at the airport was very fast, no queueing at an office for hours!
Drop off was as easy.
The car was very clean and new.
I had locked my bag into the car at the end of the rental. Tech support were very helpful.

Rented a car in France and everything went well!

Rented a car in France for week and a half. Everything went well as expected. Pickup and dropoff instructions are clear, support is good. Deposit released with a delay of couple days than FAQ says, but not so big deal at the end.

Summary: I can recommend Liigu and I will rent their cars in the future.

A totally good experience with Liigu at…

A totally good experience with Liigu at Nice Airport recently. Got the notice of car park in plenty of time and away after a quick review of car condition. Almost new car and marks on vehicle identified. Deposit taken in advance and refunded on departure. I would recommend this company and will rent from them again.
