SCAM COMPANY!
SCAM! This company is a scam. The car was great but the start of the rental involved me paying the airport parking charge even though I had already paid more to pick up from the airport. They claim it's buried somewhere in the T&Cs. But the BIGGEST SCAM is their handling of the deposit. They took a very large deposit up front and then after no response after 1 month of the rental period ending they claimed they were looking into it. Then after a few more angry chat messages they emailed saying they were liquidating and I would get my deposit back after 2 more months if the car owner didnt find damages. WHAT?! Why would I even be responsible for any damage anyone finds 2 months, or even 2 days, after my rental period elapsed. This happened in October 2024, and as of April 2025 there's been no actual liquidation and they are still giving out new rentals to scam people out of their deposit. I disputed the charge with Amex who after investigating agreed with me and refunded me the deposit. I have to imagine they've put this scam company on a watchlist/blacklist.
Do not use Liiugu
I have submitted our case on when we got back from Paris - beginning of January 2025. The lack of response is unacceptable and of course, zero phone number to contact a real person. We are talking about $230.14, not thousands of dollars. Today is February 11th: no response, no resolution, no refund!
Avoid like the plague
If Liigu aren't a scam, they are so incompetent it may even be worse.
The car and app were great, no issues there. However there is zero communication about the end of rental process.
Given they take a large deposit (rather than the industry standard credit card hold), this alone would be unacceptable. For me they kept my deposit for weeks saying there was a delay "but it was on its way", only when I finally spoke to someone they said there was a dent to the door. They then send me a report (which was just a screenshot of an open Google Docs page - not the doc itself) which contained no evidence of the damage, but would require them to charge 1,300 EUR.
They then stopped responding to any email/call or whatsapp message and I had to get my bank to intervene.
Avoid like the plague.
They are scammers
They are scammers. The company is in liquidation and ripping off innocent consumers. I am surprised that no authority is taking drastic actions on them. I had file complaints I hope the rest of the people would do the same.

Deceptive long walk from airport arrivals to their own car park. 20 mins pushing baggage trolly on pavement and across numerous roads.
Forced to make a formal dispute with credit card company as they double-charged my card, THEN GHOSTED ME!!
Won't return deposit or even contact me in months
My trip finished 25th September.
I received a delay on return of deposit email in mid November.
It's now January next year and still no update. During this time I have tried calling, whatsapp and emailing and I haven't been able to get in touch with anyone.

Warning it’s a trap!!
Warning !!! It’s a trap!!
I cancelled my booking and they did not return the money although I received an email a month ago that the money will sent in 72 hours !! They don’t answer to the phone !!
Absolute scam - they do not return your deposit
Absolute scam - avoid at all costs - they have stolen our €1500 deposit for a car that we returned in perfect condition in September.
The company is in liquidation…
The company is in liquidation (bankruptcy). My rental car was cancelled and I don't think I'll get any money back :-(
Cancelled a car for rental
Cancelled a car for rental. More than 30 days now and they did refund me still. Sent 5 emails, never answered one of them. Horrible company, DO NOT rent a car with them. Several complaints of them being dishonest
Liigu can’t be trusted.
Do NOT rent from them. We travel to France every year and were very excited to hear of their business model. We had a reservation to rent the car for five weeks. The DAY BEFORE we arrived, we received an email from them telling us our reservation was canceled with no offer to assist us in any way.
Obviously the additional cost of finding another rental at the last minute was significant.
I might add that we rented the car through Expedia and we requested help from them and they never bothered to respond. Ugh.
LIIGU IS NOT AN STRAIGHTFORWARD…
LIIGU IS NOT AN STRAIGHTFORWARD COMPANY! I have a vast amount of rental car experience in Europe and NEVER have I seen such a DISAPPOINTING operation. They promise things that are NOT included in the vehicle and only apologize as if to just say "OOPS" Car did not have GPS which in Europe is silly to not have!!! They took FOREVER to refund the damage deposit to the point I had to dispute it on my credit card and they only let it go then. And the car was returned in perfect condition and they acknowledged this but STILL wouldn't refund my $1660+ deposit!!!! They don't answer emails or phone calls and almost insist on you using WhatsApp even in urgent matters!! They fine you heavily if you just go into San Marino from Italy despite the 1st rep telling me "no problem"!!!! Their cars are all run with an app so if you have ANY ISSUES with getting cell coverage (VERY COMMON IN EUROPE!!!) they are of no help and you can't unlock, lock or start the car!!! This even happens in parking garages that are underground!!! A very questionable company that tries to sell you on low price and then treats you poorly. It can REALLY ruin a vacation!!! STEER CLEAR IF AT ALL POSSIBLE!
The customer service is not great.
The rental service its own had no issue. Easy rental and drop off. The problem was when we hired a car for second time, they actually charged my card as a deposit instead of putting as pre-authorisation. Money was not returned for a week after oler returned a car and eventually we contacted their customer service and “refunded” the money. My card was originally for GBP and CC company charged us for the international transfer and lost a few quids. This was never ever happened with any other car hire companies so raised my concern. The customer service just ignores the fact that they took my money instead of pre-authorising, and told me they are not responsible for the fee from my CC company.
Since then ignoring my emails.
Not worth using when they can’t deal with such a simple issue like this. We will use another company next time.
I would avoid Liigu at all costs
I would avoid Liigu at all costs. We dropped the car off with a full tank of petrol as per the agreement. We received communication from Liigu that we were being charged for damage to the car (there was no damage and we took videos to prove it) and the tank was full (also have a receipt to prove it). They won't communicate with us and ignore all our emails. We are having to go through our credit card to dispute the charge. We hadn't seen all the reviews beforehand, but we can now see so many other customers have experienced this

Security Deposit Not Returned
I rented a car for 6 weeks in Europe - I've been home for 7 weeks now and no sign of my security deposit and no response to my emails. Can't reach them by phone or WhatsApp and they have $2,500 of mine.
Liigu’s Bait-and-Switch: Charged for Damage We Reported Before Driving!
Our experience with Liigu was incredibly disappointing and frustrating, especially considering the issues began even before we drove the car out of the parking bay on the first day of hire.
We noticed a problem with the car boot cargo cover—it was incorrectly positioned, clearly left that way by the previous user. When we opened the boot, the right-side cable snapped due to the awkward angle. This issue was immediately reported in person to a Liigu agent in the car park and also via WhatsApp to a support agent named Jane, who acknowledged it wasn’t our fault and assured us we wouldn’t be charged.
Despite this, Liigu failed to send any notification about our deposit being taken or provide updates regarding the outcome. They have since kept our money and stopped taking phone calls, offering only email support, which has been slow and unhelpful.
We were cautious from the start due to Liigu’s numerous negative reviews and took extensive photos and videos to document the car’s condition. Yet, despite this evidence and our proactive reporting, we are being unfairly penalized.
The lack of accountability, communication, and proper checks on the car’s condition before our hire have left us feeling cheated and frustrated. Liigu’s handling of this situation has been unprofessional and unacceptable. We cannot recommend their service to anyone.

Boy did I walk into this one despite reading the terrible reviews. I was asked for €1500 deposit. My credit card company declined. I pressed for approval and found I had been chatged €3000?
Car was waiting at airport. Returned it in perfect condition but got an email to say there was an unspecified mechanical fault and they would. Get back to me. That was six weeks ago. My credit card has insurance so I will pursue through them. Keith
WARNING - LIIGU IN LIQUIDATION & STEALING DEPOSITS
WARNING: LIIGU is in LIQUIDATION and stealing your deposits.
Liigu stole my deposit without reason so I filed a complaint with the The Consumer Protection And Technical Regulatory Authority of Estonia. They have advised me that the company is in liquidation.
To verify, simply lookup the ariregister in Google and search Liigu or registry code 16150473.
You will see multiple complaints on this site and others complaining that they did not get their deposits back. This is why.
Buyer beware, Liigu will continue to operate fraudulently and in doing so, your 1500EU deposits will not be returned as they do not have the cashflow to do so.
