Initially the process of setting up the HSA account online and secondly allowing part of that money going into investing in the market thru a Schwab account. The whole process took like a week but it was easy and accurate.

HATE THAT THEY USE AI FOR COMMUNICATION. Beyond that why would you include pending contribution amounts in the balance but not pending transactions.

This is by far the worst company ever

This is by far the worst company ever. I was reimbursed for my father's senior day care. Than I seen another 200 available than proceeded to ask if it was available I was told yes. I submitted it was approved than I paid out the money. Just for Lively to come back and say it's not available. I would never use this company if you value your money don't put it into Lively they are a scam

Lively doesn't communicate, charges extra fees

Lively is not a very straightforward company as far as communication, and they have some shady business practices that seem designed to get you kicked off of COBRA and to nickel and dime with extra fees.

- The first notice I got that a COBRA payment check was lost was a letter more than 30 days later that my insurance was cancelled. I was traveling and did not receive it until I got back. It was a stressful and lengthy process to get the insurance re-instated.

- Later, when my premium went up for 2026, Lively did not charge me the balance of $51. Instead, they left it as an outstanding amount on the website and did not tell me that it was due. Non-payment would have also led to my insurance being cancelled. And then they charge an unemployed person a $20 fee to pay the outstanding $51. It's absolutely shameful how the system seems designed to kick you off of COBRA if you aren't paying attention, and how it seeks to take advantage of payers. They say that this is a fee from the credit card processor.

Multiple ways to upload copy of receipts is helpful. I can scan or take a picture on my phone.
It would be helpful if I could sort to find all charges which don’t have a receipt uploaded yet rather than going through page by page.

Thanks for the nudges

I initiated an HSA transfer from a less-than-helpful custodian. While there was little they could do, they did alert me to check on the progress and reviewed the paperwork I completed. This was helpful.

Great for self-directed HSA!

Lively makes the self-directed HSA easy. Reimbursements are easy and the debit card is helpful. A lot of online purchases are blocked requiring reimbursements to be submitted instead of using the debit card, which can be annoying and inconvenient. Best part is the partnership they have with Charles Schwab so you can invest HSA funds over $3,000 in an HSA brokerage account. Oh and it's free to hold an account!
