At check-in the Inspector found damage…
At check-in the Inspector found damage to the door lock, which was not noted or checked at pick-up. We were charged 200 euros for damage which we felt was not our fault.

Mixed feelings
Mixed feelings. Locauto's staff members were friendly, polite and efficient. The app is great and the booking process is excellent. We particularly appreciated, that Locauto doesn't ask for a credit card, debit cards are also accepted. But...
The directions to Locauto’s office in the P4 Parking area are insufficiently marked; in fact, the location is almost directly opposite a building currently under demolition. This becomes particularly problematic when returning the vehicle, as P4 has two separate entrances that do not connect internally. (It is advisable to choose the entrance closest to the airport’s main terminal.)
We received an Audi. Although the car was new, the overall impression was diminished by the low‑quality plastic steering wheel and other plastic interior elements. In addition, the navigation system was outdated and frequently directed us to dead-end streets or provided incorrect routes. Given the extensive ongoing roadworks across Sicily, the outdated software was unable to reflect the current traffic and road conditions. Interestingly, the system offered an automatic update only a few minutes before we arrived to return the vehicle.

We are sincerely sorry for the difficulties you faced when trying to locate and return the vehicle to the P4 parking area.We are fully aware of the ongoing airport roadworks and we completely understand the inconvenience and confusion this causes.
To prevent this from happening to future travelers, we will make sure our desk staff provides much more detailed directions and guidance directly at the counter.
We are also sorry to hear that the car's interior did not quite meet your expectations, even though it was a brand-new Audi.
Regarding the GPS, the navigation system should certainly not have caused these routing issues.
We have flagged this with our technical team so they can run a full check on the software and ensure everything is updated and working perfectly.

Smooth process with full coverage
The front desk line was slow, but once we get there with smart check in, it was faster for us. I recommend full coverage even if not sctrictly needed, it offers great peace of mind. Returning the car was much faster thank picking it up. The process was smooth. 5/5 star.

Locauto seems to understand the customer experience when renting out their cars. Make it easy, simple and don't focus on the upsell, but customer loyalty.
I need to be in Catania on multiple trips in the coming months, and they will now be the go to company.
Why? Getting the car was quick and easy at the desk, handover explained everything important about fuel, return and damage.
Returning ... I left mine out of hours. The key drop works perfectly and they did not try to stiff me for "new" damage.
The vehicle, clean, worked faultlessly and (now I will expect it every time :-) ) they upgraded the vehicle.
I booked through Booking.com
Will be interested to see rates and process when I book directly.
