The staff, teachers and students at LTL were great.

I believe that people make or break and experience and they really helped elevate my experience in Seoul.

You can tell the staff here genuinely care about you as an individual. My favorite part of the experience was that they would take us to lunches and would sometimes also host activities in the afternoon/evening (usually 1/week).

My class size was small enough that I got to ask questions and get 1:1 attention from the teacher. Even though other university language classes say they keep their class size small, there are usually over 10 people. I think that would've been too much. My teacher was very attentive, understanding, patient, and fun. She answered all my questions, and I really appreciated her focus on what is useful to know about speaking the language and not just what is "academic" to know about it.

Really good choice! I enjoyed my time there and had a good time. The team was so helpful with any request I had. 5 days Korean (A1) was definetely just a start- but I enjoyed the course in a small group. There was plenty of time for our questions.

I was at the ltl language school in Beijing for two weeks and it was great! The classes were both intensive and fun, the teachers good and motivated, and after class, they offered some interesting activities. Almost everything went smoothly and if it didn’t, the super nice and helpful staff solved the problem very very quickly. So there was nothing to worry about and I was able to just enjoy my time there and focus on exploring the city and studying. The location of the school is also great for having lunch nearby after school and then doing some sightseeing.

I've just finished my short course in Beijing and I'm absolutely delighted with my experience. The school managed my arrival smoothly, I was placed in a small group according to my level of chinese. I loved my classes time, which were fun and challenging at the same time. Our teacher Lilia was just perfect and very energetic. Our director of studies Linda handled all questions very smoothly.
The classes were held from 8 AM to 12 PM, followed by after-school activities, including sightseeing and cultural discoveries. The school office is cool place to be, it's also well located, a lot of restaurants and food stalls just downstairs. A very special word to my host family, a real cultural immersion and a lot of kindest. Can't wait to come back!

Our 8 year old son Gordon has been doing daily 1 hour Chinese lessons (Mon-Thurs) with Wei Wei (Fiona) through the Beijing office of LTL for about 5 months and is making good progress. She is a great teacher, always enthusiastic, and following a clear curriculum to build his foundation in Mandarin. LTL has been easy to deal with and transparent.

I studied Chinese for 3 years in undergrad, but my skill increased exponentially while in China. This is partially due to being in China and organically interacting with people, but the quality of LTL’s accommodations coupled with an excellent host family and school environment has provided me with both abundant and quality opportunities to develop my skills and cultural understanding.

LTL is the most flexible program I encountered while researching study abroad options in China. It was the only one that could adjust to my unique and restrictive time-frame for traveling. The affordability was another big factor. 1 on 1 lessons, housing, advising, airport pickup, sim/transport card and more, as well as no unexpected costs or fees, made my experience in Chengdu possible.

My host family treats me like one of their own, and I’ve even met the extended family. They’ve shown me the city and China’s famous hospitality. As with the unique time-flexibility, no other independent program (at least those identified while conducting exhaustive research prior to committing to a program) offers the opportunity to LIVE, not just live, with a host family.

To conclude, Chengdu is an excellent city for those looking to immerse themselves in authentic Chinese culture. There are plenty of cultural and historic sites, modern attractions, community events, operas, parks, and most importantly, pandas. My host father even managed to find an entirely Chinese flag football league. There aren’t as many foreigners, meaning the immersion isn’t broken like it would be in Shanghai, Beijing, or Hong Kong. Regardless of who you decide to study abroad with, Chengdu is an excellent location.

But as someone who was in Chengdu with LTL for an extended period of time, I can’t recommend them enough.

I have just returned from 2 weeks at Beihai LTL Language School and I loved my time there. My teacher provided me with exactly what I asked for - comprehensible input with appropriate correction of my frequent and persistent mistakes. As a mature student with many years of studying Mandarin on and off, I was able to consolidate what I already knew and learn more day-to-day practical language, which included short trips to the pharmacy and supermarket, and booking trains etc online. The 1-to-1 lessons made a huge difference to my listening ability, and I feel more confident after only two weeks. I would have loved to have stayed longer. The additional social activities were fun and were a good way to meet the other students and have the opportunity to share our experiences. This small school had a very friendly atmosphere where any questions/issues were promptly addressed by the teacher or the manager. In addition to the excellent input provided by the teacher, the homestay experience was also really enjoyable. I felt spoilt by their kindness, patience, care and consideration, wonderful home-cooked meals and trips around Beihai to see the beaches and some resturants. When you think of China, Beihai doesn't immediately come to mind. However, if you want a truly immersive experience with good support from the school and the homestay family, in a small city with lots of natural beauty and tons of character, then go to Beihai.

I spent two weeks with LTL in Beijing recently and I honestly felt like my limited proficiency in Chinese made much more improvement with them there compared to my months of self-study online, largely owing to LTL's small classroom environment encouraging participation and providing help when needed, the experienced, skilled teachers and staff, the after-school activities where we were able to practice our Chinese in the real world, and the excellent homestay service. Would definitely recommend.

I had a great time in Beijing this January even though it was just a short week :) Teacher Alice was really great and adjusted to my short schedule so we could make it as efficient as possible. The school activities were also fun and made it easy to meet other students (thanks Linda & staff). Beijing is a great city with lots of things to do and easy to get around, but do be prepared for the cold!

Awesome learning experience with LTL Beihai, program was tailored to my needs with 1 on 1 classes and super patient teachers. The school has its nice little social life. Beihai is low key compared to big cities in China, although there is heritage worth visiting, a unique sea environment and enough friendly coffee shops for homework time. I enjoyed all of it!

你们好！It was the first Time I went to Beijing, hence I want to learn chinese I chose LTL School combined with a Homestay. First I had some doubts, going to a complete unknown City, staying with Strangers seemed very challenging. But even my best expectations were topped. People in School are very, very friendly and helpful. The Teachers know what they are doing and encourage you. All in all the perfect atmosphere to learn a Language.5/5
It was so nice I will do it twice!

I studied in Chengdu, and I can't recommend it enough! From the moment I started, the teachers’ patience and dedication to my success were obvious. Each teacher has their own unique teaching style, but they all share a passion for helping their students succeed in their language ability and in adapting to life in China. With their support, I was able to progress from absolute beginner to HSK 3 in just four months, which I never thought would be possible! The teachers all feel like good friends now and I can't wait to go back and visit everyone ( Every teacher was great, but specific shoutouts to Nathan, Unicorn, and Dawn for helping me enjoy the city and progress my language level)

This school has a small classroom which facilitates student interation and they organize fun activites like game days. This helps students meet non foreginer friends and immerse themselves in chinese culture. Also the student advisor Mandy was fantastic—always approachable, supportive, and eager to help you make the most of your experience.

Chengdu itself is an amazing city for solo travelers. It’s incredibly friendly to foreigners, and there’s so much to do! From exploring the bustling city streets to visiting cultural landmarks, I always found something exciting to fill my free time. The food is absolutely delicious, and while I wasn’t a fan of spicy food at first, Chengdu slowly converted me—I even started craving it by the end of my stay.

The school not only helped me improve my language skills but also provided opportunities to meet other students and build lasting friendships. I was a long-term student, and even after four months, I felt like I had only scratched the surface of what Chengdu has to offer. I wish I could have stayed longer, both to continue learning and to explore more of this incredible city.

If you're considering learning Chinese, this school is a fantastic choice. The teachers truly care about their students, the facilities are excellent, and Chengdu is a vibrant city that will make your stay unforgettable.

I just finished the 4-month semester program at LTL Shanghai and I was very satisfied with the experience. Some pros and cons to help you weigh your decision if you’re thinking of enrolling.

Pros:
- the students who attend these programs are very interesting and come from all kinds of backgrounds, I believe I’ll stay in touch with a few of them
- my two teachers were both very timely, friendly, and challenged me in useful ways
- the schedule was flexible at times to cancelled and made up classes
- I never had more than 3 classmates at a time

Cons (just to set expectations):
- the rooms and chairs are not very comfortable
- once you’re placed in a class you are assigned 1-2 teachers and although I enjoyed working with my teachers, my assumption is that you have little control to make changes
- program can be a bit fixed and my preference would be for it to be more flexible (obviously 1:1 classes would award that)

I love my Mandarin Flexi Classes. LTL has really created a great platform for learning languages. The price seems fair. The teachers are patient, professional and fun. They spend a little time getting to know you at the beginning and share information about themselves as well. This helps them tailor the lesson to you and your needs. I signed up for group lessons, but so far, I've been the only person in my lessons. Either way, at most, there will be only 5 people in a lesson. The lessons are posted ahead of time, so you can see exactly what you will learn and even practice a little before class. You also get a sound file as well. The teachers also post their annotated notes after class, which is helpful for reviewing what you learned. I have a busy schedule, so it's really nice that I can choose when to take a class each week. It's best to go in order, but you can also flip lessons around if that's what works for you. And, finally, I love that I can take other language classes. Right now, I'm focusing on Mandarin, but I may jump into a Spanish class one day, just to brush up on my Spanish as well. There's also a nice forum where they encourage students to engage with each other by sharing tips and asking questions. I also like that you could study in person, if you're lucky enough to be able to travel. Are there any cons? Some people might not like that you can't choose the same teacher each lesson. So far, that hasn't been an issue for me. And you need to be self-motivated, since you have to manually book each class. I know for some people having a set class time is the best way to get them to continue their language study. But, I'm so excited about my class afterwards that I start looking ahead to when I can take the next one.

Awesome school, I can't recommend them enough! Wonderful staff, great communication. The teachers are top notch, reminded me of my university when I studied another language. I really enjoyed learning all the basics the first week and even more beginner grammar and vocabulary the second week. You must commit to study every day on your own! You won't learn Korean via osmosis, yet the very knowledgeable and adaptable teachers (I had 2 over 2 weeks) and small groups will definitely lay a good linguistic foundation if you have no prior speaking/reading ability or understanding of Korean.

My wife and I spent a month studying Mandarin at LTL Beijing as a couple, and it was an unforgettable adventure! The classes were small and interactive, and the teachers were amazing—super supportive and great at making learning fun. We both started at with zero Chinese language knowledge and 4 weeks later, both came out being able to communicate with locals!

We chose a homestay, which turned out to be a highlight of the trip. Living with a local family gave us daily opportunities to practice speaking and a chance to really experience Chinese culture up close. It was also nice to come home and share our experiences with each other!

LTL also organized some awesome activities, like calligraphy and dumpling-making classes, so we got to dive into the culture beyond just language. Plus, exploring Beijing together was incredible—there’s so much history, food, and energy in the city.

After a month, we both felt way more confident speaking Mandarin and left with amazing memories. If you’re a couple thinking about learning Mandarin, LTL Beijing is a perfect choice!

It was my first time on a language trip and I had a great time. I really enjoyed the safari kit, I visited Cheng du's famous place with my teacher Dawn 老师 learning about Cheng du's culture and history, we chatted in Chinese like we were friends, she helped me to structure my sentence better and also taught me new super useful words.

I just think the survival kit and the connection kit are not worth it.
For the survival kit, you can survive without it, especially if you have Alipay. You can ask for help to get the SIM card, the transport card, you can have it on your Alipay. You don't have to pay extra for that.
Now, I wasn't in a home stay, so maybe it's useful for people in a home stay.

And for the connection kit, I was paired up at the beginning with a Chinese student who was really busy with school, so I only met her once the day we were introduced and we were supposed to hang out other days but she was too busy. The great thing is when I reported the problem to the school at the end of my stay, Unicorn, a teacher at the school kindly took the place of my Chinese buddy and we went to have lunch together, we had a great time, Unicorn was really sweet and kind.

I really enjoyed the buddy programme, we will do an activity once a week with the students of the school and Chinese friends, a great opportunity to practice our Chinese in a casual context.

The thing I liked most was the activity and atmosphere of the school, all the teachers are super friendly, kind and professional. We often go out for lunch at the nearby restaurant, we chat and laugh together, we even went ice skating one day with all the students and teachers, it was so much fun.
I'm definitely going to miss everyone and all the time we spend together.

I meet really wonderful people there and hope to see everyone again one day 🤍

LTL Korean Language is honestly an experience you have to do. Everyone here is so kind from your classmates to your teachers. Even though my stay was short I feel like I’ve left with a better understanding and more knowledge than before. I had the pleasure of learning from 은진 선생님 and she really goes the extra mile to make sure you understand. Also, make sure you go to lunch and participate in the fun school activities thanks to Manuel’s wonderful recommendations and planning!
