A Deeply Concerning Experience — Ongoing Issues with Minibus Purchased from M4 Minibus Centre
Our charity purchased a minibus from M4 Minibus Centre with the intention of using it to transport vulnerable young people, the fragile and elderly and disavantage people safely. Unfortunately, from the outset, the vehicle experienced persistent mechanical issues — including sensor faults, ABS problems, and breakdowns linked to AdBlue and DPF system failures to name but a few. These issues rendered the vehicle effectively unfit for purpose, and it remained operational for only a matter of weeks before requiring repeated attention.
After further inquiries, it became evident that others had experienced issues of the same nature with three local organisations reporting comparable mechanical faults following purchases from the same supplier. During a phone conversation with a member of M4 staff, I was informed that pre-2019 models may be associated with known issues. While I do not have a recording of the call, this was my genuine understanding based on that discussion. My concern is that these vehicles are still being sold without clear, publicly available information regarding such issues yet these vehicles continue to be sold without transparent warnings or disclaimers.
Despite raising our concerns directly and in good faith, the response lacked accountability. Rather than engaging constructively, the company’s stance appeared to centre on deflecting responsibility.
This situation has placed considerable financial and operational strain on our charity and others in similar positions. The cost of repeated repairs, the interruption to essential services, and the safeguarding risks associated with unreliable transport have had a serious cumulative impact. This is not isolated incidents — they point to a troubling pattern that merits wider attention within the sector.
We have since connected with three affected parties to share information and experiences. It is clear that more oversight and accountability are urgently needed when it comes to vehicle sales that support public and community-facing work.
If you are an organisation or individual who has encountered similar issues, we would welcome contact. For those considering a purchase, we strongly encourage you to exercise caution and carry out thorough due diligence.
Safety, reliability, and transparency must be non-negotiable — particularly when serving vulnerable groups. Based on our experience, we would not recommend M4 Minibus Centre.

We are sorry to read this review and would like to clarify a few key facts for transparency:
The vehicle in question was sold in April 2023 with MOT, PSV certification, and a 12-month warranty, which was arranged promptly at the customer’s request.
The only issue raised with us during the first year of ownership was in July 2023, relating to the ABS system. We made a goodwill contribution toward that repair.
The repair was completed by the customer's own independent garage, who described the vehicle in writing as being in "very good condition" at the time.
No other issues were reported to us at any point during the warranty period or in the 12 months following - until July 28th 2025, when we were contacted about a breakdown involving an AdBlue and DPF fault.
This was the first communication we had received since May 2024, and the issues raised in 2025 occurred well over 12 months after the warranty had expired.
It is important to note that at the point of sale, the customer signed a DPF disclaimer, which clearly explained how the system operates and the responsibility on the owner to drive the vehicle in a way that mitigates issues. We hold a signed copy of this document. Therefore, the suggestion that the vehicle was supplied without warnings or disclaimers is incorrect.
Had we been made aware of any further concerns during the warranty period, we would have done all we could to help. Unfortunately, we cannot assist with problems we were never told about.
Despite the timing, we have still offered to support the customer by:
- Sourcing parts at cost price
- Providing free technical advice if needed

I knew of the M4 van centre prior to…
I knew of the M4 van centre prior to dealing with them on this purchase, but I had never used them. There is a reason I have been driving past them for the last 20yrs and they are still there to this day.
It’s basically because they know what they are doing. They got everything covered! I was very impressed with Mark. All the staff were friendly also. I will be using them for all the servicing and repairs when needed on for my van purchase. I would definitely recommend them and use them again.
