Refuse to replace or repair
I’ve been looking for a store that I can trust and purchase products and get servicing services from.
I’ve tried a few and so far they are mostly dodgy.
In this instance I bought a pair of AlpineStar motorcycle boots at Megabikes in Ballymount.
After trying them in the store (the girl was very helpful and knowledgeable), I was happy with them.
The next day after running them in, I noticed a bulging on the lower right side of the boot which was very painful when walking then on my right ankle.
I called the store to investigate the issue and the man on the phone said I had no recourse to exchange them as i wore them once. He was quite insistent and told me to find a boot repair store.
His demeanor was “indifferent”.
I contacted alpineStar directly and they said Ihave a two year warranty and this should not be an issue, and that alpineStar would absolutely take them back..
Further more, this attitude from this man in the store goes against all of the consumer laws of our state.
I’ll continue to hope the boots ware-in over time, but know you have rights and AlpineStar will follow these issues up.
In future I feel it is safer to purchase from the internet as they have a return policy.
I wonder how the owner feels about this kind-of thing coming-from some of his staff.
I’ll avoid this store, and shop on the web in future.

how can you keep , someone obviously on holiday , from the USA , waiting for 12 , yes 12 days for what should have been a very simple job.
you robbed them of 12 days of their holiday .
YOU ARE A SHOWER OF FAECES !
Disgraceful attitude
Traded in our old motorbike for a new one, purchased the jacket and also ordered the side cases for the new motorbike. Have checked with the store manager Nicole Lynch beforehand to make sure work laptop will fit in. Have asked for measurements, was told they don't have it and got confirmation that laptop will fit no problem.
Side cases arrived, came to the store with my laptop and it doesn't fit. Have asked for a refund and they refused to give it to me, saying that it was a special order. As a goodwill gesture offered a credit note for €405 which I don't need. Was trying to explain to the store manager that I didn't change my mind and that the product doesn't fit for purpose. Was told that I was aware that they don't have measurements and it was my decision to take a risk. To be honest, I was very surprised to hear that after spending a few thousands in that store. Have asked for T&C document twice to check the store refund policy, was ignored.
Have no money and side bags. Had to go to CCPC for advice.
Disgraceful attitude. Megabikes lost one client.
Megabikes Wexford St - Service
Since new in 2014 I’ve had a little Piaggio liberty that i took great care of. With 11k on the clock it was probably the best example of this bike in the country.
A few weeks ago the engine shut off. When I checked i found and there was no spark and the stator needed replacing. Because i had building work going on and had nowhere to work on it i gave it to Mega bikes. I asked them to replace cdi, stator and ignition switch to make all the electrics as new. I wish i hadn’t done that.
When i went to collect the bike the steering lock no longer works, i cant open the front storage, paint is all scraped off the front panel, theres a dint in the saddle and worst of all theres now a loud screeching sound from the engine bearing thats actually louder then the exhaust sound. They’ve destroyed my bike.
When i brought this to there attention they claimed it was like this when it came in - which is not true. Claimed it was probably kept outside and what did i expect. And looked me in the face and said “Whats your problem it’s running”.
Amazing, i have gone from a purring low milage engine to whats effectively a right off and been charged 350 euro for the privilege.
Now when checking reviews you might wonder if i making this up, but why would i. Why would i do that. Yes I’m angry but thats because they destroyed my bike. They didn’t mean to - but they did. Maybe other mechanics in Dublin are no better i cant speak for that but i can at least warn people of my experience with Megabikes, Wexford St. Be very careful .....
