Evaluating 50 reviews, most reviewers were unhappy with their experience overall. Many customers reported that repairs often failed to resolve initial problems or, concerningly, introduced new issues, sometimes even damaging their vehicles. People frequently experienced misdiagnoses, leading to unnecessary work or services not performed despite being charged. However, some customers also noted significant dissatisfaction with staff interactions, describing them as rude, dismissive, or unhelpful. Many felt they were overcharged or pressured into unnecessary repairs, with some reporting damage to their property. Over priced

Hello,
Midas location
24757 GRAND HARBOR DR
KATY, TX 77494

Good day, I have been a Midas customer for many years, however, extremely disappointed!

I recently received a quote from one of your locations that includes a charge of $590 for [Left front wheel hub -Part# 94258034], along with an additional $398.98 for labor. However, after searching online using the same referenced part number, I found the same part available for $62.90 (Detroit Axle) and $209.99 (O’Reillys). After this experience I can assure you I will never step foot into a Midas ever again and I strongly encourage you do the same!

Midas in Grayslake, IL

Recently went to the Midas at 183 US Highway 45 in Grayslake IL.

Avoid that location whenever possible.

Have been going to Midas shops in IL, CA and WI for many years. Most have been excellent and trustworthy...would mostly be 10 on a scale of 10.

This one in Grayslake has apparently come under new ownership and management. If there are minus signs possible, they would get a minus 15 on the same 10 point scale. Meineke nearby did a far better and honest ant trustworthy job and a simple stainless weld spot repair on an all stainless exhaust system for only $80.

Warning

Warning. Do not trust Midas at 937 N Lake Drive in Lexington with your vehicle. They do not take responsibility and evade providing assistance to find out how our son's vehicle was damaged when left in their care.

They SAID they would provide video footage to find out why the truck had 2 big dings and a long scrape down the side upon going to pick it up but then they said my husband would have to watch it in their store so he went to watch it.

Then they refused to provide the footage without a court order even though we filed a police report. They are putting up multiple obstacles to waste our time and make it difficult. They shared a few pictures of screenshots from the video and one of them showed their employee looking at the damages. WHY would he be looking at the side of the truck if he wasn't the one who did it.

If they didn't cause the damage why would they be so evasive. If they had a video of someone else in the parking lot hitting our truck they'd be happy to share I'm sure.

Facing up to mistakes is a much better business practice than looking so shady. I will never do business with them and am happy to see they have an F rating so hopefully more people will avoid this place in the future.

Midas Brantford-Rip off place

I’ve given reviews on Google for Midas Brantford, told to submit a “contact us”
Form, nobody gets back to you. I have proof of them ripping me off, and now have an appointment with CTV news on March 30th to expose them. I have also been in contact with other news stations, and will expose their tactics to rip people off.

Disgrace!

Disgrace!

I took my car to 2701 Millwood Ave, Columbia, SC 29205.
The store manager, Richard, told me to leave the car with them so they could figure out where the leak was coming from, which I did.
I got the car back two days later with an unrelated problem that had never happened before: a clicking sound from the left side of the hood.
I let them work on it, even though that problem was probably caused by them. After taking the car back a second time, I noticed nothing had changed about the oil leak, so I took it back again. All I got was, "Oh, we fixed what we could, but you have more engine problems that we are not equipped to fix. Take it somewhere else."

just about a month later, I already have a low engine oil warning and engine check light on. I'm nearly $3K in debt, and my car has new problems. I don't know how much more I'm going to have to spend to fix it.

Also, Richard, the store manager, is extremely rude—so much so that he hung up on me.

Midas in Avon IN charges for diagnostics $120 plus shop fees

Midas in Avon, IN charges for a diagnostic. Not a minimal either. $120 plus $5 for shop supplies. I was trying to figure out what was throwing an EVAP code and I knew it was not the gas cap. I thought the purge valve, but wanted to confirm. They told me both the purge the vent solenoid were BOTH bad. They did not diagnose it, they just threw the only 2 parts left on the quote for a paltry $720. Took it to Belle Tire and they said it was the purge and to fix it was $244, FOR FREE. Midas is a joke and I will never go back.

Had a brake smell coming from a rear…

Had a brake smell coming from a rear brake and it ended up being a pad that was sticking due to rust.

I knew my brakes were low, so the estimate to replace rotors and pads was reasonable, they proceeded with the job.

Several days later, a bolt broke while we coming to a stop, the caliber dropped and stoped the car. we knew there was a problem and drove the car off the busy street into a mall and determined the cause of the problem. Called CAA & Midas.

At Midas, they took the car in and replaced the caliber immediately and had the car back on the road. Apologized for the inconvenience, no discussion, no negotiation and sent us on our way with no cost to us.

Have to give a 5 star rating to the staff as they were concerned and more than willing to make it right.

As a result, I found a shop I can trust and will be there when I need service on any of my cars.

Thank you Mike!!!!

I went the universal city tx location…

I went the universal city tx location for a grinding noise when coming to a stop. The shop diagnosis the car and found issues like leaking axels, struts leaking, oil leak, transmission leak. Thank you for point out those issues with the inspection. Although it did not diagnosis my initial concern of grinding when coming to a stop. I went to my normal mechanic the next day and found out the upper, lower control arms sway bars were bad and not diagnosis. Midas offered to resurface the rotors at cost to me to solve the grinding problem. I explained the brakes (rotors and pads)were just replaced so no need to resurface. After going to my normal mechanic they showed me the brakes were fine and no oil leak. They did show me how bad the upper, lower control arms sway bars and needed replacing. Explained this was the cause for the noise when coming to a stop. thank you for point out the strut issue they were under warrant.
Midas did not live up to my expectations. I would really think twice before going here. There are lots of other mechanics in the area who give honest assessments of issues and concerns. I would give 0 stars if that was an option

BE AWARE

MIDAS WEST VANCOUVER
BE AWARE. These guys WILL OVERCHARGE YOU. And they overlooked duties in car servicing protocol.
I took my car for a standard service and to take a look at a warning light. I came away with a totally flat battery (couldnt even start the car in the forecourt and the warning light not dealt with). To top it all they charged me $500 for a $375 retail price Battery. They also charged me 30% more than I was quoted over the phone for my service and couldn't explain it other than to say it was a receptionist who misquoted me.
Mike tried to BS me that he had placed a better battery, but his product code which he had cleverly disguised so clients can not cross check the price, aligned exactly with what he had fitted. I called him on it and of course he went silent on me. No responses whatsoever. To miss a flat battery, makes me wonder what else wasn't completed in this car service.
When lining up to pay for the car on collection, both clients in front of me were complaining of overcharges against quotes already issued. This seems to be quite a common issue with MIDAS WEST VANCOUVER. This is the last time my family will use MIDAS. We are not idiots MIKE. Don't hide behind your email. When you get called out on your BS, be a businessman, and answer your clients. Try and win them back. All you have done here for the sake of scraping an extra $200 out of me is loose our family custom and raise awareness to anyone reading this very fair and truthful statement NOT TO USE MIDAS WEST VANCOUVER. You failed on every count Mike. PS: Tony is a good guy - he must be embarrassed to work for you.

My wife took our Honda Ridgeline in for a simple oil change on February 8th 2025 at the Vacaville California location on East Monte Vista. Complete incompetent scam artists The first time we walked in there their computers were down The second time we walked in there there was a piece of equipment that was malfunctioning and they couldn't put an appointment I could have swore I was part of a David Chappelle sketch lol. The person at the front desk seemed more interested in playing with his cell phone then trying to help my wife. After the oil was finally changed and I went with her to pick it up and of course I checked the vehicle to make sure the oil was in fact changed and the filter was changed because come on now we're talking about Midas never trusted quick lube and tune shops and my experience justifies this feeling they tried to tell us that my vehicles wife had a leak from the main seal which has never leaked My vehicle does not leak I check it periodically there are no puddles in my driveway All three people that operate the vehicle said there was no leaks My mechanic who just replaced the fuel injectors in it so there was no leak he checked it again including the main seal and every other seal and there was no leak determined that the Midas technician intentionally when taking out the oil filter spilled everything that was in the filter down into the control arm so that later on it would begin to drip simulating a possible leak so that they could try to f*** us to fix something else

Don't Go To Midas Muffler _Dishonest, CROOKS

Service is unprofessional, and performance was inadequate. Took my vehicle in for repair, Manager, said I had to pay for a diagnostic $185.to assess the problem. They did the diagnostic and said nothing is wrong with my car, Their diagnostic consisted of only starting the car. It appears and I believe they are conning people to get the diagnostic done knowing beforehand they either can't fix it or don't know what to do, to make money. I took it to another shop and they knew right away what was wrong and fixed it. Dont waste your time and money going to Midas, Very poor service and inadequate knowledge of fixing cars.

They charged me almost $1800 for a repair that wasn't needed and did not fix the problem. I've called and they said they would have owner, David,to call me but that never happened. They told many things that were totally untrue. I got my alternator back from them and took it to 2 other places that checked it and there is nothing wrong with it. In 2 days after repair it was doing the same thing. I took it back and they said to take it to a body shop that the sunroof had been leaking. They made this decision due to a small stain next to sunroof. I ended up taking it to a REPUTABLE auto shop and spent another $800 plus dollars. I guess I'll never get my money back from Midas since they love ripping people off.

Midas at Dundas provided a terrible experience. They charged me an excessive amount for brake repairs, and after I left, I noticed a new noise. When I brought the car back, they kept insisting it was nothing but still charged me for a service check. Their customer service is nonexistent.

Great Service!

I always take my vehicle into the Kingston Pike Midas (Knoxville, TN), for regular oil changes and never have any issues, but this time, I really just wanted to write a great review! Mike the owner/mgr was phenomenal. Very courteous and friendly, not rushing me through like some merchants can do. My service was done in a timely manner and even gave me his 'foodie' suggestion, which turned out to be spectacular! Great job & thank you Mike!!

Fathers

Fathers, never let your daughters take their car to Midas on Lake Creek in Austin, Tx for a weird nose. They will take advantage of her. Sold my daughter 5k of suspension parts she didn’t need and wanted to sell her 2k more for motor mounts she also didn’t need. The heat shroud above her catalytic converter was loose, the noise problem went away with a 25 cent nut and washer. Congratulations Midas, y’all should be ashamed
