communication and cancellation difficulty
The renewal was set to automatic, so when it come to cancelling it was the most difficult and stressful experience. Online chat was useless, no real person conversation. Tried this several times with no help or contact number, before havinig to send an urgent email. Eventually managed to cancel, but not an apology or an explanation from the Company. The price was ridiculously high. I would never use covea insurance who are inconsistent with pricing and I would not recommend motor vision insurance after such an awful and time wasted, also unnecessary stress. Good luck to future customers hope they look into this and improve.

Annoyed that my automatic payment was taken before you told me the actual price.
I had signed up a year ago for automatic renewal unless I cancelled in advance. It was ONLY A WEEK before it ran out that I was told what the new price would be and the renewal payment had ALREADY BEEN DEBITED FROM MY ACCOUNT. I was quite happy with the new price but if I hadn't been I would have to have cancelled the renewal and reclaimed the payment. Luckily I had enough money to cover it but it was annoying.

As part of our renewal process, we send an email in advance of the renewal date to let you know that your policy is due for renewal. This communication invites you to log in, review your renewal quote, and check any documents or information that may require your attention. The renewal notice also explains that, if you do not wish to continue your cover, you should contact us before the renewal takes place. In addition, it advises that if we do not hear from you, payment will be collected automatically 7 days before the renewal date in line with the auto-renewal terms.
We appreciate that renewal communications can sometimes be overlooked, and we are sorry for any disappointment or inconvenience this situation may have caused.

Hidden prices and charges
I took out insurance via compare the market for £174 for the year payable by direct debit payable monthly. Then via various broker fees and access to credit charges the price went up to £221. A £33 initial fee plus tax and the original £174. I cancelled within my 14 day cooling off period and they wanted to still charge £33 under the guise of a "small amount" for 10 days covered. I complained that not only was this within my 14 days, but that small amount for 10 days actually repeated to 700% increase. They have since got back to me and told me there is also a £55 cancellation fee.
In summary the price they offer on compare the market is at best misleading and at worst designed to lure you in before adding other charges, and should you complain and cancel, they completely disregard the 14 day cooling off period and charge you even more.

Renewal gone wrong!
Policy renewal went from £275 to £1569 due to address change and no blame accident on a third parties policy, even though I had protected no claims and max no claims, im 69.
Got cover with another provider for similar previous rate, shop around!

Unfortunately, we are unable to control how insurers calculate premiums. This means premiums can change significantly, even where a customer has protected no claims discount.
