Rang the Customer Service Line today…

Rang the Customer Service Line today and after 1hour 33 minutes hung up. Managed to source local branch number but again got a recording. Awaiting a call back from local branch. I received an email, labelled SPAM, this morning, telling me that they had tried to reach me without success (no message or call has been received from them) and they were locking my account. I suspected that the email was a scam so wanted to verify if this was so, hence my calls. I have now found access to my account denied. At 81 years of age, I am appalled that CBA has the audacity to claim that customers' calls are important to them but they disregard the waste of their customer's life on earth by such lengthy delays in answering their customers' concerns. Your profit margin, CBA, is large enough for you to spend some money on lifting your game and re-learning the concept of customer service.

Dodgy work ethics

They used covid as an excuse to drop everyone's home loans back to minimum repayments with no way to opt out. It would be interesting to know how much extra money from interest Commbank made from that lil scam.

Worst customer experience

I haven’t rung commbank for ages, tried this morning, IVR took ages, so much info useless to me..then the call bombed after “technical difficulties” lol. All these CX staff being paid millions and the experience is bad. Whereas I ring my smaller bank (quite a few times lately to sort out loans) and every time I’m through to a real person in less than 1 minute. So now I have to drive down to the branch to ask my question regarding selling my car and taking payment…

I have not been able to renew my term…

I have not been able to renew my term deposit for weeks. The Contact us button only yields "technical problems". No offers for renewal are displayed on the website so what can one do???? I have never experienced such problems before! This is really very bad and unsatisfactory!!!!!

Majority of the Staff Are Useless

Had such a bad experience going to the Manly store that I submitted a formal complaint and no action taken. As a POA of my dying parent and trying to get the accounts in order. I felt so angry and disappointed how they basically did nothing and told different stories each time I went in-store.

I ended up going to the Warringah Mall store and was attended to by a lady who actually gave a dam and couldn't solve all my issues (cause of all the red tape to stop people from scamming everyone) but did enough so I could get the accounts in order. She is based at the Mosman branch and temps at the Mall.

This bank has so many useless people working there but there are a few good eggs if you can find them.

No service

No service - all CBA numbers have at least a 2hr wait time - eventual service (if your lucky enough to get any) is unfriendly, impatient and uninformed.
Promises by the bank to call you do not occur.
Impossible to conduct business with this bank

The worst of the worst

I was waiting 2 hours in the line, someone with an Indian accent answered the phone and transferred the phone, I waited another 1 hour and hangup
Why do you have a call center if you are not going to answer?
And I am 100% sure all their call centers are in India

No customer care

Load a formal complaint, get no resolution just an operator that talks over you and closes the complaint with no offer to escalate or investigate despite their duty of care to the consumer. Zero transparency! Pre recorded messages regarding opening times are incorrect & after 27 minutes on hold calls are disconnected.

Worst bank ever!

Call up and the recording says our call centers are in Australia.
Get connected to someone with a strong Indian accent and a very poor quality line, couldn't understand anything!

That's fraud right there.

Been trying to dispute fraudulent card debits, the app says 2 hours for a response, 2 days later nothing!

I made a formal complain about two…

I made a formal complain about two weeks ago and still waiting for someone to call me back. Instead I just get these emails saying someone will call back soon. The staff in the Perth branch can't (or won't) help. Not exactly sure what their job is? I have sent follow up emails, but no response. In the meantime they keep charging me. My recommendation: Avoid this bank.

Customer service has deteriorated greatly, unusually slow fund transfers to Crypto platforms

Over a year ago I may have written a reasonably good review about the Commonwealth bank of Australia. I've been a very long term customer. Not because CBA is necessarily the best bank, but because the others are worse. No, that's not hyperbole! :)

But in the last year (21/22) I've noticed that the Commonwealth bank has undergone some not so good changes. I am guessing like most companies & businesses, it's a cost cutting measure. Cost cutting measures always means the customer loses. The CBA has gone downhill in the number of ways.

One used to be able to call them up and get a human on the phone almost straight away. That's one thing I loved about the CBA. A couple of months ago their waiting time was 1 hour on the phone. One hour? haha Unlike a couple of years ago, now there is always a waiting time with that ingenuous message "Your call is important to us. There are unusually large numbers of calls" which translates into "your call is not important and we won't pay for more staff, so too bad. You'll just have to hold on". haha

But in very recent times, they have made their call line so useless that they palm off customers to their commonwealth bank app where you are supposed to be able to get your problem addressed by their automated service. I have to laugh because any financial query/issue that is nuanced, which is often most issues for me and that's why I need to call them, is too much for the little autobot. If it does not fit into the many FAQ links they provide, then they cannot deal with it. Their automated service will tell you at the end of the frustrating encounter that a human will address the issue. But of course that does not happen. No human gets back in contact with me via email or on the phone. It's somewhat insulting to one's intelligence to read this automated suggestion. The first time I read that a human would get back to me, I thought. OK good! The second time I was told a human would get this message, I thought "Sure they will!" haha. I knew it wasn't going to happen.

It may be just suspicion but the CBA also seems to be intentionally slowing down the transfer of funds to Crypto platforms. On the odd occurrence that I got to speak to someone on the transference of funds to a crypto platform, the CBA said the quiet part out loud and I noted a very suspect attitude from the employee on the line and complete lack of knowledge about Crypto currencies. That's very odd coming from a bank.

The security section of the bank however is fairly good. If they think you might be being scammed or something like that, they are quick to contact you. But the unusually slow approval of funds transfer to Crypto platforms I find very odd. They basically pose a 99 hour transfer wait to a new crypto platform where you had to wait 24 hours for the first transfer, then another 24 for the 2nd and so forth till 99 hours is up. I don't know if the CBA is concerned during times of inflation and recession that there will be a run of money on the bank and so they try to slow down large transfers so that you will be reluctant to do that again to a new platform? I don't know. But I've never had that issue of 99 hours before.

Also their trading platform Commsec is so slow rigid and backward. I cannot believe they are OK with Commsec. Have they visited other trading platforms? If Commsec had even the basic ability that platforms like Superhero had (which is basic) I might have considered using it, but it's like it's trapped in the 1980s technologically speaking.

So I don't know what's been happening with the CBA, but I find it very sad and yet another nail in the coffin by Capitalism.

Horrible customer service

1 hour waiting to speak to someone, who then passes you onto someone else. 2 hours, later still waiting. Can’t lodge a complaint on a transaction on NetBank, have to call, only to wait for 3 hours for nothing. This bank is a dinosaur and a waste of time. Taking my banking elsewhere as soon as I have a free 8 hours, because that’s how long it will take. A bit emotional after waiting for 3 hours, but ‘Commonwealth Bank of Australia’, I hate you!
