Night Zookeeper
Fantastically Fun Learning
Night Zookeeper is a London-based children’s brand comprising of an online learning program, a book series and a TV mini-series. All of our products centre around the magical world of the “Night Zoo”. Our aim is to make learning fantastically fun for children aged 6 to 12 years old, and unlock their creativity in the process. Our reading and writing program has been used by over 1 million children worldwide.
Night Zookeeper was founded in 2012 by Joshua Davidson and Paul Hutson. Our e-learning product was originally launched in November 2012 as a creative drawing iOS app for kids, which went on to be recognised as one of the 50 best apps of 2013 by The Observer and The Guardian.
In 2014, we revamped the app into a web version which included more extensive writing elements, a dashboard for monitoring progress and personalised feedback from tutors. Over 1 billion words have been written by children on the site. Night Zookeeper is also used in schools by teachers worldwide in an effort to harness the power of digital learning in the classroom.
Throughout the pandemic, Night Zookeeper was able to act as a useful resource for families around the world to keep their children learning as schools were forced to close and remote learning took hold.
As of 2024, our program is used by thousands of children in several countries as a way to improve their reading and writing skills in a fantastically fun way, whether as part of a homeschool, in the classroom, as a supplementary resource, or simply a productive form of screen-time.

We did the free trial and have since bought Night Zookeeper. My child is delayed but loves spending every day playing Night Zookeeper. He has increased his reading, his curiosity is back and his confidence has grown!

I think the quality of the program is high. It is quite engaging. However, my kids spend more time on their dens and creatures than actual writing and quests to learn English grammar. My kids love it. They fight over who gets to do it first and they can get hyper focused on it. So it’s a decent program, but not the best fit for our family. I haven’t given up on it yet. I have regulated its use better in our house.

We love Night Zookeeper! It's fun and engaging while also educational. It's one of those apps that I offer to my child when she is struggling to get through her workbooks because she absolutely loves it!

Heard about Night Zookeeper from homeschool influencer for years. Finally decided to try for extra fun at end of day. Kids love it, they only get 20 mins, but are so thrilled to have this reward at end of day.

So far my son has been moving this learning app far more than he has with other ones we have tried! I'm excited to see how it improves his writing skills.

I am so upset with this company - I unsubscribed from their emails 5 years ago and continue with the same issue EVERY YEAR. They take an annual subscription £59 and I have to ask for a refund. It seems impossible to leave them once you sign up for a free trial. BE VERY AWARE.

My 11 year old son loves Night Zookeeper. It's a fun way for him to practice typing, spelling, writing, vocabulary, and other language arts concepts. Even he has noticed a huge improvement in his creative writing skills and his ability to overcome the challenges! We are very happy with this program!

So far we are enjoying this program. My children are engaged and love the activities and so do I. The certificates that they receive make them feel proud and accomplished. I also like the parent portal where I can see exactly what they are doing. The feedback from the tutor in reference to their writings is very welcoming. Thank you for creating an awesome program.

It can help me as a single mother of two by opening for me a business
My child loves Night Zookeeper. She likes using her imagination to draw and create different characters. Then to engage the child further they must write about the animals they create simultaneously helping them with their writing, spelling, and grammar. I love that they have tutors that give my child feedback which puts a smile on her face.

The best app for children to be engaged in English and Math. My child learns in a fun and Productive way. I highly recommend to anyone wanting a positive activity for kids online. The annual membership is a steal!

I teach an 8th grade resource ELA class at a rural middle school. The students seem to enjoy the Night Zookeeper site, and I love that they can work independently while I pull small pairings to do their Lexonic Phonics lessons. Anything that keeps them engaged while improving their skills is a win in my book. By the way, I am a 25+ year veteran teacher.

Our son did a year of Night Zookeeper and took a break for another year before signing up again. He is thoroughly enjoying taking the lessons and writing his stories. We do recommend this platform.

My kids enjoy it and I have seen improvements over the years. I wish they would give me a notice before my renewal so I can change my card but they don’t.

Great app, kids love it and is helping to improve their grammar and spelling

Content is excellent and my children love it. Unfortunately, your app crashes multiple times. Freezes, loses history, etc. It's clear it has technical issues, at least in iOS.
