My experience at Novotel hotel…
My experience at Novotel hotel Sheffield was not a great one. Would have gone for a low budget hotel if I knew as this was far worse and beyond my imagination. No heating in rooms . Everything I will say was below basic from beds to the restrooms. Wouldn’t advise anyone to stay if you want a good night and travel experience.
Pay extra or sleep on the floor
NOVOTEL Phuket Resort
Booked a family room for 4 at the 4-star Novotel in Phuket… and apparently, math isn’t their strong suit. We arrived at 9 PM only to discover our “room for 4” had just 3 beds. Yep, one of us was suddenly playing a game of musical beds—or maybe we were supposed to invent teleportation?
Reception cheerfully informed us that this was perfectly normal and that if we wanted everyone to actually sleep in a bed, we’d need to pay for an extra one. Who knew that “family room for 4” actually meant “3 beds and a surprise charge”? Not us!
Sure, it’s written in the fine print on their website, but honestly, who reads that? And who expects that booking for 4 means 3 beds? Apparently, Novotel does.
So, yes, we paid for the extra bed—which jacked up the total price by almost 20%. And the staff? They seemed…proud of their clever little trick. Call me old-fashioned, but I thought a 4-star hotel’s idea of hospitality didn’t include turning bedtime into a revenue-generating puzzle.
Family of 4 planning a trip to Phuket: unless someone’s willing to audition for “Sleeping on the Floor: The Musical,” I’d look elsewhere. Plenty of other 4-star hotels actually understand the concept of 4 people = 4 beds.
Novotel Phuket: surprising, amusing… but not in a good way.
Decent hotel, but rough neighbourhood.
Novotel Suites Paris Montreuil Vincennes (22 Av. du Professeur André Lemierre, 75020 Paris) is a decent hotel, but the neighborhood is quite rough. There’s a market open most days or at least on weekends, with people selling pretty much everything, and the streets can feel unsafe at times — especially after hours. Be attentive when walking around and avoid using noise-canceling headphones, as traffic and drivers around the block can be unpredictable.
We booked a single room with a double bed and a sofa bed. The room was clean and functional, but some drawbacks include: no toothpaste or toothbrush provided (we had our own toothpaste and toothbrush), only paper cups for tea or hot water, and the sofa bed was pretty uncomfortable. The Wi-Fi speed was around 7 Mbps, workable but slow.
Overall, it’s okay for the price, but not ideal for first-time visitors to Paris. Next time, I’d book somewhere closer to the city center for convenience and safety.
A Disappointing Experience After Previous Positive Stays
NOVOTEL AL BARSHA
I have stayed at this hotel on three previous occasions and have always had a pleasant experience, but unfortunately, this most recent visit was extremely disappointing.
Despite booking a twin room, I was assigned a double bed instead. The air conditioning unit was barely functional; although four different staff members attempted to repair it, the issue remained unresolved. The pillows were unusually large and uncomfortable, and the television was insecurely mounted, appearing as though it might fall.
After requesting a room change, I was moved to another room, but this too presented several issues. The kettle was not working, and the staff struggled to resolve the problem before eventually replacing it. The bathroom facilities were also substandard — the toilet flush was weak, and the tap water flow was very slow.
Throughout the stay, I repeatedly had to contact reception for assistance, which became quite inconvenient. Considering the total cost of £1,000, the overall experience did not meet expectations and was far below the standard I had come to expect from this property.
On a positive note, the breakfast was satisfactory, and the housekeeping staff were courteous and efficient. However, given the numerous maintenance and service issues encountered during this stay, I regret to say that I would not consider returning in the future.
Great customer experience
My husband and I stayed at the Novotel Glasgow City Centre on the 27th of September 2025.
We had an amazing time, the room was beautiful and clean. We were celebrating our anniversary, and we received 2 mini bottles of wine, which was a great surprise.David(front desk supervisor) gave us the best customer experience from the minute we arrived until we checked out,we can't thank David enough😊
Wow amazing staff for a four-star hotel!
Wow! I stayed for 5 nights in Bristol, Novotel and the staff were amazing! Especially Michael, Cedric, Serena, Sia, Gerry, Yahye and nice Thai lady named Nok! They all made my stay wonderful, I would like to make sure they are acknowledged as they deserve it! They have kind smiles and they always engage with you asking how you are every evening and every morning. I give them 5 stars because of their great customer service! I would like to appreciate and compliment them as they are not only doing their job but reaching out to customer with effort to engage and build a rapport! I know this as I have worked for international five-star companies for 11 years now! Thank you all for choosing kindness over and over in this tough world! Best wishes! Room #303, please let me know if you need more details, I hope they get recognition for this and hopefully promotion in the future! x
Watch what you are paying for
Booked a room with a view to city, got a view to someone else’s balcony.
Breakfast let the side down!!
Stayed with work at the Novotel in London. The room was clean and the staff were polite. The only negative was the breakfast. It was cold and the bacon was so over cooked you could of broken teeth eating it.
Novotel Cambridge North
btw, I never write reviews, but this has to be written. I stayed in a twin room, 3 days, by the end of it I had pains in my neck, ribs, and lungs from the beds being SO bad. I know I only paid £90/night but it's a hotel, invest in your beds! I would not recommend this hotel chain to anyone. If you want pain, get a Novotel room. They should be paying me for how bad that experience was.
Save your money stay at a 2 or 3 star hotel.
Booked an executive suite to feel the “vip experience” as they say, but was quite the contrary. As an Accor member and employee, I was very disappointed. On arrival, my tv did not work, so I had to call the receptionist on the confusing phone book from the room but managed to get a call back after calling random numbers. After getting it to work I came to know there were no English channels apart from news, as well as an app setting on the remote which didn’t work. I then requested for some water, which I was told I had to travel down 7 floors to the bar just to get, which I assumed required payment. After that, I came to find there was a water machine on the 7th floor by myself, not from the staff, which was unhelpful. I continued with my trip and came back to the hotel one night requesting some English breakfast tea bags, which they told me they weren’t sure if they have, as well as some more milk pots which I was told to get from the bar (which requires payment) to which I said I only want the small ones provided in the room with the tea and coffee kit. The response I got was “Oh I know, I’ll try and send somebody up” and of course nobody came up. My room was cleaned when I was out, but my vanity kits were not replaced. The room was okay, I wouldn’t say luxury as there wasn’t much difference to the previous hotel I stayed in Paris last year which wasn’t luxury. Bathroom door didn’t lock which isn’t a big issue for me but could be for some and the ac was complicated to control which is never an issue for me. Overall, for the amount I paid, I wouldn’t recommend wasting your money for the so called “vip experience” as it did not feel this way. The location isn’t too bad, maybe 30 mins from the centre, but you can certainly stay closer to the centre for a similar price, if not less.
Totally rubbish with communication on…
Totally rubbish with communication on moving dates of bookings . If you book a date that you then have to change , just know they’ll drag the process till the actual initial date you picked is very close and then make up an excuse to tell you it’s not possible. In my case they took more than a week , after initially telling me they could move the dates for me . Very unprofessional. If you’re thinking of booking with them and your plans change, don’t bother , just know your money is gone .
Stay well away from this company!!!!
My wife and I stayed in Novotel…
My wife and I stayed in Novotel Liverpool center, exec room. There were only 3 mains power plugs in the room. So we had to decide who wanted what power and when
Great Hotel - Clean, good food & FANTASTIC STAFF
Everything was perfect here, and the staff were amazing. Erin looked after all my requirements and the service from her and her team, Elliot, Caitlin & Sam was 100%. I will always choose Novotel when staying in Liverpool.
Great job guys - Thank you and see you next time :-)
Totally inflexible and appalling customer service.
Novotel Milano Malpensa Airport. Tried to cancel, or move a booking within a few hours of making it in error. They were totally inflexible and I had to pay the full amount. No communication at all other than a flat ‘declined’ to requests. As a regular traveller I certainly wouldn’t recommend and will avoid in the future.
Novotel Wembley has a contract with…
Novotel Wembley has a contract with other companies to book parking spaces. Take your money and give your spaces away. So when you turn up they just tell you to get a refund. No acknowledgement of inconvenience or if you do not find parking loss of the tickets to the event at Wembley. The so called Manager Johnny or Leonardo were dismissive. Could not care less. Pushing the problem to the civic centre. We were there before another couple they chose to give the last space to. I wonder why, I let you work that one out?! Disgusting behaviour as for ever staying at any of the hotels again UK or elsewhere will be a BIG FAT NO. Theft, greed for this company especially this particular Hotel - Wembley. Stay away!!
Awful Hotel - Novotel Paris 13 Porte d’Italie
Absolutely Awful – Never Staying Here Again
I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. The heat in the rooms is unbearable, and to make matters worse, there is no air conditioning. Once the building heats up (which it does quickly due to the poor ventilation and overly “good” insulation), the temperature becomes suffocating. It felt like sleeping in a sauna — except we didn’t get to sleep at all.
When we raised the issue with the staff, they were incredibly rude and dismissive. All we got was a rehearsed “we understand” with no actual help or solution offered. It’s clear they’re used to these complaints and have no intention of improving anything.
For a hotel carrying the Novotel brand, this was a huge disappointment. Save yourself the money and frustration — look elsewhere
A rundown hotel with hostile staff
Front desk and administrative staff are hostile and inefficient
Could be much better, with little effort.
Stayed at “Novotel Manchester West” last week, as a day-rental. There to photograph a client. I specifically requested a high floor room with good natural light, a comment I requested again with Check-in for room allocation. The day was warm, bright and very sunny. However, the room I was given was on the ground floor with a large tree outside the window that masked any view and most of the natural light. I had to switch the light on in the room, on one of the sunniest days of the year. I had been assured by the front desk that the natural light in this room was excellent. Other than the absence of light the room would have been perfect for my needs, being a good size and well appointed. The free water in a fridge and bath robes were an unexpected, pleasant, surprise. Pity about the light which was so essential. I shall probably try the hotel one more time as the day-use price and location are superb for my needs. General impressions of the hotel “Not bad, but could be much better with very little effort”.
A 2 star experience at a 5 star price…
A 2 star experience at a 5 star price at Novotel Perth. Near impossible to even drop people off at the hotel, let alone get parking. Waited 10 min at check in about parking to be told they had none available at partner carpark. On arrival, hallway was full of used room service dishes, on departure they were still there. Pool was unattended, no clean towels and used towels lying around everywhere. Dont stay here
