Hello,
I’m sharing this to give others a realistic view of what to expect when engaging with Odoo.
If I could rate them below one star, I would.
To start with the positive, their sales team is extremely effective. They take the time to understand your business and present a system that appears to align closely with your needs. Through multiple walkthroughs, they demonstrate workflows in a way that feels structured, thought out, and nearly ready for use. It creates a strong sense of confidence that the system is already built and just needs minor adjustments.
Based on that process, I made a significant upfront investment in licenses and implementation.
Once implementation began, the experience changed entirely.
None of the prior discussions, demonstrations, or planning appeared to carry over in any meaningful way. Instead of building on what had already been shown, the process reset. I found myself repeatedly explaining the same requirements and workflows that had already been covered in detail.
The system delivered resembled a basic, out-of-the-box configuration rather than a tailored solution. Key elements were missing, incomplete, or incorrectly set up. Progress was extremely slow, and communication was inconsistent, often taking days to receive a response with little clarity on what was actually being accomplished.
Over time, it became clear that the implementation hours were being consumed revisiting previously discussed items rather than producing meaningful results.
When I raised these concerns, I received a response stating that sales discussions are considered high-level and separate from implementation. I was told that repeating and redefining requirements is part of their standard process, and that reviewing what was previously demonstrated would require additional billable time. At that point, it became clear that what is presented during the sales process and what is delivered during implementation are treated as two completely separate engagements.
I was then advised that additional development time would be required to complete the project, despite the initial expectation that the system was already close to completion. By this stage, my original point of contact was no longer involved, and a new representative stepped in recommending the purchase of additional hours.
Despite multiple attempts to address the lack of progress and the disconnect between what was presented and what was being delivered, I did not receive clear or actionable solutions.
The result is a system that is not usable in its current state, after a significant upfront investment of time and money.
The core issue is not complexity. It is the disconnect between the sales process and the implementation reality. Expectations are set at a level that does not translate into delivery, and the responsibility for closing that gap is ultimately pushed back onto the customer, both in time and additional cost.
If you are considering Odoo, proceed carefully. Ensure that everything is clearly defined, documented, and contractually tied to delivery before committing to any upfront investment.
Best regards,
We used Odoo Enterprise for our business and eventually decided to cancel our subscription.
In our experience, Odoo tries to be an “all-in-one” ERP, but many critical areas did not feel mature enough for serious daily operations. Accounting was especially weak for our needs, and warehouse/inventory management also required too many workarounds, customizations, and manual checks to be reliable.
Support was another major disappointment. Responses were often slow, generic, and not very helpful when dealing with real business-critical issues. We often felt that support did not properly understand the local accounting and operational context.
The final reason we decided to leave was Odoo’s new legacy-version surcharge. After using a four-year-old version, we were effectively forced to pay an additional 25% of the annual subscription for continued access/support of an older version, with the alternative being loss of access to our database/services. For a complex ERP with customizations, upgrading is not something that can be done overnight, especially when accounting and warehouse processes are involved.
This felt like an unfair commercial practice: instead of offering a reasonable transition period or a practical migration path, Odoo turned a difficult upgrade situation into an immediate financial penalty.
After this, we no longer felt that Odoo was a fair or reliable long-term platform for us. In our opinion, Odoo is marketed as a flexible ERP that can do everything, but in practice it often requires significant customization, partner involvement, and constant compromise to make core business processes work properly.
We closed our subscription and would not recommend Odoo Enterprise to companies that need strong accounting, reliable warehouse operations, dependable support, and predictable commercial terms.
Database closed over disputed fee; support issue after restoration
We are a paying Odoo customer. 35000$ / year. Odoo charged us an approximately $7,100 CAD unsupported-version fee that we dispute and do not believe we ever accepted. We asked Odoo to provide the signed renewal, order form, click-through record, or acceptance record showing that we agreed to the terms containing this fee.
Instead, our database was closed/restricted. We paid under pressure to regain access.
After the database was restored, our Odoo.sh email fetch service began failing and was repeatedly deactivated due to timeouts, meaning incoming emails were not properly entering our system. Support acknowledged the mail process was failing/crashing, but after a long wait the issue had to be moved to a technical team.
For a business-critical ERP, this is unacceptable. Before signing with Odoo, ask in writing what happens if you stay on an older version, whether unsupported-version fees can be added later, and whether your database can be restricted over a disputed charge.
Managing workflow automation for our 3PL near Memphis is a constant grind. We moved our operations to Odoo last year. The inventory module is solid. Honestly, the accounting interface is a bit cluttered. And the third party app store is a total rabbit hole. but the real time warehouse sync is dead-on. Heavy-duty tool for actual business ops. Reliable. gets the job done.

This is my first time contacting Odoo support, and I was surprised at how quickly they replied. They delivered a response the very same day in a few hours.
10/10 service.

I dont think the learning curve is worth the price! I'm fairly techy and it's taken me a huge amount of time to wrap my head around it, I've also found plenty of important things that it's not even capable of doing no matter how good you are! After my first year of subscription I asked for a discount as I felt i'd spent more hours trouble shooting than using it to make money, I was given a fairly cold response. I wasn't expecting a huge amount of money off but I at least expected an offer for some help with the issues i was having, i was instead pointed to a generic FAQs page, or i could pay for a "success package" whereby i pay double my yearly fee for someone to work on implementing it for a few hours. Overall i can see the appeal of one software for all things, but its soooooo clunky and breaks often, i dont see it being worth the price unless you have an in house support person or you are VERY good at high level tech
After some research I found I could get MYOB and squarespace for a few dollars less a year which covers everything I need.
Always answer our tickets very quickly, excelent customer service.

I strongly advise caution before signing with Odoo. We found their subscription model to be highly inflexible and, in our experience, deceptive. Even with written emails from an Account Manager, the company later reneged, claiming leadership in Belgium overruled the local terms.
Be aware of their "no-way-back" billing:
User Upscaling: Adding a single temporary user triggered a charge for the remainder of our entire multi-year subscription, with no option for a pro-rated refund upon removal.
Storage Fees: A temporary spike in database size resulted in permanent charges that weren't reversed even after we cleaned the data.
Service Suspension: Despite having paid our base subscription in full, they threatened to shut down our entire database over minor disputed fees.
You don't own this software; you are renting a "shell" that becomes a money pit. Look for a vendor that honors their written word and offers fair, usage-based scaling. Absolutely not recommended. Save yourself and don't be deceived.
No integrity - they don’t do what they say they will
No customer service - hours and days waiting for responses
Poor support for customisation
Extra charges for failing to upgrade every 2 years
After tens of thousands of pounds and several years I would NEVER recommend this suite of programmes and am looking to move my IT solutions to more professional companies that do what they say and offer an acceptable level of customer service.
I am very satisfied with the support I received. The representative was very professional, helpful, and solved my issues quickly. Great experience overall!

Hello, good afternoon.
Our experience was very pleasant and productive. Because we have experience in implementing and customizing systems, perhaps the level was a little user-level. However, we were very well attended to by the Odoo employee and we are eagerly awaiting the next steps. Thank you so far.

The Issue: We were charged a $3,825.00 "Extended Support Fee" for being 13 days late on a version upgrade. The Math: This fee is meant to cover 12 months of support for a deprecated version. We finished our upgrade to V19 on April 14th. Odoo refused a fair pro-rata payment of $136 for those 13 days, demanding the full $3,825 instead. The Threat: Payment was demanded under the threat of service blockage. Since our entire operation runs on the ERP, this was effectively a threat to shut down our business. The Root Cause: Our delay was caused by a certified Odoo partner failing to deliver for 8 months and Odoo-side technical issues with V19. Odoo’s response was that their "group policy" ignores all individual project circumstances. Verdict: If you require a flexible partner who values business continuity, look elsewhere. Odoo prioritizes rigid penalty enforcement over the success of their clients.
I contacted Odoo support, and one of their team members reached out to me directly to help resolve my questions in the best possible way, also providing tutorial videos as examples. I had a very positive experience.

I had an issue with an integration with Sendcloud since last year. Sendcloud and Odoo supports were not able to solve but today there was a guy named Myli that solved it! Now that works, the feature is great..

The platform gives you the erroneous idea that it works well and is easy to adapt to. Sadly, that is not the case. Any minor adjustment requires time and extensive prior knowledge.
On top of that, if you take the easy path and contact Odoo directly, they will sell you a package with 20 or 50 consulting hours. That is the trap! The consulting is usually led by someone with only three months of experience, and it just wastes your time, energy, and resources. Even worse, after investing all that time, anything you configured is worthless. Then, you need to hire a professional partner, which costs pretty much the same, but they will charge you to fix anything done incorrectly with Odoo. Furthermore, clearing anything with Odoo can take months.
I wouldn't recommend this to anyone, unless you want to give someone a series of headaches.
Odoo focuses on selling at any cost; whatever happens afterwards is completely out of their concern.
The software is so-so, they harp on what version or update you are on, most are not on the current version as its difficult to update. They are price fixing, they no longer want to honor the initial master agreements and price controls, therefore customers dont have cost protections on their large investment in the tool moving forward. The company is a trap financially, they are trying to extract as much money as possible from their customers. The support is becoming a scam and isn't even quality, you might get a response eventually. They now want 25% of the license cost for support which is laughable, its not even remotely aligned with the market. The company has lost its way, and is making mistakes that will have ALL their customers launching RFPs soon. STAY AWAY! STAY AWAY! STAY AWAY!
