Incompetent and a non existant support service
I am not a happy person. Stay completely away from this company. I have taken screen shots of all our conversations and their incompetence. They even had me taking screws out of my BT intake switch and reload their modem ??? And try to get me to pay
£108 to have a BT engineer look at my intake. I had no issues with my previous provider so what a joke. Today I am still paying for a not fit for service.
Terrible service in more ways than one
Firstly it took over a week to get my router due a mixture of Parcel Force and Origin Blunders. I got so sick of it I asked to put in a complaint which I was told was done. It’s over a month later and no one has contacted me. The connection has gone down again for the second time in a couple of weeks, I work from home and am not able to work. I would love to leave but I know they would charge me, avoid at all costs!
Cheap the price, cheap the service.
Very good with promises and then... nothing.
I had to wait 1 week for the connection to be active (they said 1 day or 2) and I never got that money back. They said I would but hey: promises.
One of the girl from the Customer Service can’t even write proper English (“we was aware” instead of WE ARE, “I will have a good evening” instead of HAVE A GOOD EVENING). And I am Italian... imagine that.
And - as for the first set up - yesterday my connection stopped and they said it would be restored soon... I am still waiting after more than 24hours. And with the lockdown going on you can imagine how this could be uncomfortable. I have to work remotely.
You pay what you get, I suppose. And Origin is very cheap...
They will of course answer to this comment with “Sorry to hear that. We will get in touch”. If getting in touch with me takes the same time it takes to answer my chat messages, well... I am lost.

Big thanks to Declan for having the patient explaining to me about an enquiry to do with my bill payment, making sure that I understand everything/ making it clear for next time. He was also able to help me out with my account information. So thank you very much. Best wishes to all the team at originbroadband, keep up the good work
Isn't very good
Good prices, cheaper than a lot of others, and there's a good reason for that, constant connection problems. Even though the speeds are good, I'm always Losing connection every couple of weeks, and it won't reconnect sometimes for hours, it's really bad. The customer service replies quick, but always says there's no problem, when there clearly is. I Just get an apology, like it matters. I Won't be renewing my contract. Rather just pay a little extra for another provider.
Shocking company....
Shocking company....
Sold me a service that they just couldn't provide. Took me weeks of emails and calls to get through to someone who was prepared to listen. I was promised two return calls from a manager to which never happened.
I had an engineer sent from open reach as they said it was a fault on my line. I spoke with the engineer who said there is no fault and the speed I'm getting is what's expected of our area which I sort of knew as I've lived here for years and have had several different suppliers.
Eventually Origin admitted they sold me a service they couldn't provide.
They offered me a way out which I should of just left there and then thinking back.
I couldn't be bothered to go through the whole change over thing again so
I agreed to stay if they lowered the price to the package appropriate to the speeds I was getting to which they agreed. The moment that happened they dropped my speed down to the lowest speed they provide.
Again took me ages to get through. Several calls and emails later I finally get a response. They said I had a fault on my line....
This was the final straw for me so I took it upon myself to leave and go back to my original provider and funnily enough no issues, no faults.
Now Origin want £300 out of me for leaving my contract before its due to finish.
I said I wasn't paying a penny more to them. Now they have sent it over to a debt collection agency who want to attempt to try and damage my credit score...
Absolute scandalous. I've never had an issue in my life with paying anything...
Please avoid.
If what they are offering seems to good to be true its because it probably is.
I found this out the hard way.
Ultra nice broadband very fast 142 mbps…
Ultra nice broadband very fast 142 mbps /second. Brillaint company offered by lovely bt.
What more is there to say?
I just don't know what I can say about Origin that has not been said by all the others regarding their encounters with what is possibly the worst company in U.K. passing themselves of as efficient suppliers of Internet and Broadband.
My encounter is very similar to all the rest. Read their ads which paints them in a glowing light, take the plunge and sign up for internet. Engineer arrives from Open Reach and moves some wires, plugs in Router and moves my phone and changes the number. Shows me a leaflet which has instructions on setting it up and leaves. No internet, and we start with a series of calls to what is allegedly a help desk and the marathon of phone calls with promises that someone will phone back and does not, and the story begins once more with no action especially when they close up the shop and go home. I am typing this on a Saturday and they have all gone home for the weekend. I contacted them several weeks ago to cancel and requested that they send someone to pick up the router which is as useful as a chocolate chisel. This was after no communication for several weeks and me getting my I,net installed by another company. Next an email advising me that I would be receiving an invoice from Origin for £47. When I queried this I was told that this was for a months use of the internet which they supplied and I pointed out that I had informed them due to their failure to meet their side of the contract I had already told them I was cancelling my side of the contract, the router they supplied had never functioned and in fact it was sitting on a table at home in its little box doing nothing and awaiting collection by some one from Origin.
Then came a lull in the proceedings followed shortly after by another Female member of Origin's "so called help team" insisting that my broadband was installed and running and I had recently sent an e mail . That verged on the miraculous! I had a router which was totally dormant and not a flicker of any internet from Origin. That was indeed miraculous!
There must be an official body which governs internet companies to ensure that they all should comply with agreed standards of conduct. If there is they need to get their act together and sort out companies like Origin, and no, Origin will not be getting £47 pounds from me .
Atrocious!!! Absolutely atrocious!
Had problems from day one. Paying for their fibre so unto 69mbps and at times getting 3mbps. Customer service is a joke.....Live chat....don't make me laugh! 15 minute wait from sending message. 2 hours at least if you call and their answers are.....
'need to change the channels on the router. '
'It may be the walls in the house'
'router location'
I wish I had stayed with BT because the service from them was very good, even at twice the price.
Buy cheap buy twice as they say!
DO NOT CONTEMPLATE USING THIS COMPANY!!!!
Completely unethical company
Completely unethical company. Renewed my contract based on many promises that were not delivered and then tried to pressure me in to staying by adding non existent fees
Avoid at all costs
I've made a huge mistake signing up…
I've made a huge mistake signing up with these clowns. I signed up via billbuddy, who said they were great value for money. What a lie that was!
I'm on their top package for broadband and it's pathetically slow, especially in the evening and weekends. On average I'm getting about 7meg after 6pm and the weekend.
I've emailed a complaint, as I've had enough and I'm sure the poor speeds are in breach of contract. Six days later I'm still waiting for a reply. Live chat might as well not exist and the phone lines are just as pathetic as my internet speeds!
Looks like I'm stuck with them unless I try some kind of legal challenge.
Don't go near them if you have any sense.
Poor customer service
Poor customer service. Fitting the broadband was fine. Then after that things went downhill. The router demanded repeatedly that I change the password. I did. then it demanded I change to an eight digit password. I did. Then Wi-fi kept dropping. Router returned to original password. No I have to update the Rueter and I don’t know what the online account name is for the Asus or the password. Can’t get help through the chat.
Horrible
Horrible. My speed drop down each evening after 5.30PM, I paid £24 and have guaranteed over ti 30Mbps. Each evening I must do hot-spot via my phone data. I have online shop and need be in touch with customers. During evening speed FROM origin less 3Mbps and advise from them are just change channel but it is not working. We can't watch TV, simple application in phone, nothing working. Customer service horrible. Rude people, hanging up phone, I was waiting 7days for call from them, on line stay each time one hour and they don't know nothing. One person says me, he can see I used my boardband but they are closed evening when speed going down and nobody care. Not recommended
Just the worst
Just the worst. Just don't go there. Almost no service since I signed up at the start of this year. Continue to take my money monthly. No refund. No compensation. Nobody with any authority to make any changes calls me back or replies to my emails. Charming customer service! but completely unable to do anything.
Terrible company
Terrible company, I signed up on 12 September and was assured that I could defer the start date to 9th Nov, and could keep my existing phone number. I was notified later that my service would go live on 23 September with a new number and the wrong address. It has taken one phone call which auto cut off at 59 minutes, and three chat sessions to get precisely nowhere. I have now cancelled the switch by another 45 minute chat session. I hope that this time their system has worked!
Probably the worst If I could give it 0 stars I wouldcompany I have ever…
Probably the worst company I have ever dealt with.
Wifi is terrible, beyond awful.
Customer service unhelpful, rude and unapologetic - complete liars.
They take your money and then youre tied into a 12 month contract that is absolutely worst.
The Worst in Every Way
I think you can tell just how bad this company is by the fact they no longer respond to negative reviews. I am hoping this gets read before sign up because these cowboys are truly the worst. You can only cancel BEFORE you go live, so once you find out just how bad the service is, you can't get out of the contract. I have supposedly been live since Monday, but I have no service at all, and cannot contact anyone as they are away.
Avoid at all costs
FIVE YEARS I was a customer
FIVE YEARS I was a customer. Service drops often and since 2018 they have had no out of hours assistance anyway, but today they took it to the next level!
A neighbour who recommended me cancelled their internet.
So! Origin disconnected MY line!
14days new line set up?
Not a chance! Not when you take FOUR HOURS on hold to find the issue!
Genuinely the worst. Staff won't log their name against complaints either, keep their personal details away from the company and all prospective customers, ESPECIALLY businesses should do the same. Trust me.
DO NOT, DO NOT, DO NOT, USE ORIGIN BROADBAND
A truly appalling service that has never delivered from the start. We PAY for 23 mbps and get 5 mbps on a good day. Customer Services are useless and the Tech support is worse. Try to get someone to call you back ? dream on, it won't happen.
DO NOT, DO NOT, DO NOT, USE THIS COMPANY.
Try to ring them? and you can wait for 50 minutes for them to answer the phone, only to get fobbed off with the promise that 'A Manager' will ring back. Which of course doesn't happen. Conclusion ? they are snowed under with complaints OR they cannot be bothered.
After weeks of literally no internet &…
After weeks of literally no internet & trying to get out of this contract my wish has been granted but at a cost. According to them they has not been a drop in service and it is not their fault if there is no wireless connection within my home. I have proof of communication and would spend all day talking to different people . Sometimes even get left hanging on chat because it was time to go home for them
I gave up using their service and was relying on mobile data to get me through and yet expected to pay for a service that wasn’t provided. I have been told charges will apply but have taken the case to Ombudsman to investigate.
Joining Origin was the worst decision i have ever made. I should have done my home.. STAY AWAY
