BEWARE OF FRAUDSTERS ORIGIN BROADBAND

Origin Broadband are crooks. They will continue taking monthly payments from your bank account AFTER you've cancelled. Yes, they'll try to talk you out of cancelling your contract with them VIA VISA CARD OR DIRECT DEBIT.
They are fraudsters. THEY WILL CONTINUE TAKING PAYMENTS AFTER YOU'VE CANCELLED IT.

BEWARE OF ORIGIN BROADBAND.
It's not even as if they provide a decent connection - it's really grim.

Below zero!!!

Below zero!!!! This is a follow on from a previous review. They contacted me to 'resolve' this issue!!!! Still a joke and STOLE my money for services not received. Apparently, the Ombudsman says that because I haven't been without internet for 8 weeks, then I dont have a case!! If that's true then the ombudsman needs a reality check!!! Could they have worked without broadband, I dont think so!!! Would they be happy being charged for the privilege of not having g broadband, whilst waiting for hours on the phone, then get cut off? I dont think so. Never come across such appalling service in my life. 'This issue is now resolved and closed'. I I dont think so!!!!!! Enjoy my money that you stole!!! Disgusting!!!

This is a horrible scam company!

This is a horrible scam company, stay away at all cost.

Once subscribed and paid for services in advance, I have not received any internet at home, as agreed.

I had to pay for BT open wi-fi, because there were no other way to work from a new home without internet.

Called within the first week to cancel - they advised to wait 10 days (as I cannot cancel within the for 10 days of settling period as the box has arrived)

Called after another week - I’ve been advised that I cannot cancel, but can raise a complaint.

I have not had any wi-fi reception at home, so was constantly calling them asking for cancellation, but all my calls were totally ignored and I was continuisly charged.

Every single request for cancellation was ignored. Refund was ignored and when called they refuse to provide with names.

I truly believe that this company uses people’s bank details and illegally taking money. These actions need to be reported to the police and FCA.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE AVOID!

So I moved to the new property and I decided to go with them as they looked very promising. What a mistake it was... Most of the time there was no internet at all! When we had internet the download speed was 0,1!!! Called them up on several times, every time I had to wait at least 45 minutes to get to them, online chat was a little bit quicker but not much and never got to solve any issues. Very frustrating and stressful as internet nowadays is very important especially that I need it for my work. They always said that its not their fault, that my cables are old and if they gave me more internet my cables wouldnt be able to handle it, well guess what, im with a different provider and my old cables handle sepeeds of up to 40 easily now! They refused to cancel my contract so in the end out of pure frustration we canceled direct debit and closed bank account just in case. Finally, peace and quiet and what is most important... working internet!

This is a joke of a company

This is a joke of a company - avoid and save yourself time and money! Got a call from them through a comparison website and they were all nice until I paid the first payment. I asked them many times to change my installation date to the date I was moving into the property (both on the phone and through email). They never changed it until the day on my original installation date. Got a text saying 'your installation date is today'. I phoned them up to tell them about the installation date once again and they said it was too late to change. I'm now going through cancellation with them to go to a different company. AVOID AVOID AVOID AND SAVE YOURSELF TIME AND MONEY

As others have said 1 star is far to…

As others have said 1 star is far to generous, I had several emails from them promising a visit between 8 and 1to connect my broadband, after spending the rest of the day phoning them at a cost of over 12 quid a guy eventually turned up at 5 : 45 only to tell me he couldn't do it and it would probably be another week. I immediately cancelled the direct debit and will go to the bank tomorrow to get assurance that no more money will be taken, then I will go to trading standards. Absolute rubbish company not even fit to be called cowboys.

help themselves to money from your bank even when you have NO contract with them

Even one star is too generous for Origin Broadband. The most disgraceful company I have ever come across. Regardless of the absolute hell they have caused us in previous months, our contract was ended in July. Now in September, the company have proceeded to help themselves to near £300 from my partners bank account using his card numbers which they took note of in the first call, including the security code (illegal from my understanding), WITHOUT PERMISSION. They now claim there is nobody there able to authorise the return of the ILLEGALLY taken funds although they admit they had no right to take them. Do not give this company any of your details, or waste any of your time with them, absolutely VILE and CORRUPT

Avoid these cowboys at all costs

Origin are the worst company I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. Firstly, the service they provide is terrible - the internet barely worked and when it did it was very slow. The technical ‘help’ I was offered when I called up was akin to the running joke in the IT crowd (have you tried turning it off and on again). When lockdown happened I was forced to change provider as there was absolutely no way I would be able to complete my university assessments remotely with such a terrible internet service so I switched to EE (which has been consistently wonderful since April). I called origin to cancel my service with them in April and I was told I would receive a final bill in May. I didn’t receive a final bill in May, and instead Origin kept my account open and continued to charge me. After 3 additional direct debits being taken from my account following my cancellation request I cancelled the direct debit and contacted Origin again to request the cancellation, backdated to the original cancellation request date, and to refund the additional payments made. I was once again told that my account would be closed and that a refund would be issued. I’ve checked again this morning and not only is my account STILL open, but they are now demanding money from me (despite the fact that they owe me money). I will be going to trading standards if my third attempt to cancel isn’t processed.

Bottom line - AVOID Origin at all costs. They are a bunch of thieving cowboys.

Origins Circus Act

Their online chat is just a computer in a hallway somewhere seeing whoever feels like responding.
I received a total of 6 responses from 4 different people over 4 hours, each giving one message and disappearing. During this time there is an "average response time" shown, it went from 25 minutes to 7 while I waited 45 minutes for the first message, followed by an hour for the next.

How many technicians does it take to send you a router?
I don't know but we are up to three, none have succeeded. The reason?

Origin have an automatic system to stop you recieving a router.
Even though you are paying for their internet, the automatic system stops them dispatching a router to you and the technicians can't do anything about this. Since we had no issues since 2017 the automatic system keeps cancelling the new router being sent to us even though we are still paying monthly.
Every time it doesn't send a router, no one takes action. We have to ring up every single time and do the same thing again, which brings us to wait times.

Minimum hold time was 20 minutes, longest was 50 minutes on hold. We have spent over 8 hours this last week trying to solve an issue they caused, there is absolutely no sign of this being fixed anytime soon.

Life's too short for bad customer service, find the best option for yourself!

Cancelled during cancellation period and still had over £300 taken and The internet has never worked

Ordered on the 14th July, fitted 10days later (Fri 24th) was told to wait until midnight for signal to settle but it did not ever work. Called the number on the information booklet I got with the router on the Saturday morning but the lines were not open at the weekends, I spent the whole weekend googling the reviews and thought what a mistake have I made. On the Monday (27th day 13 of cooling off period) I called and explained my whole situation but the customer service advisor was so rude and abrupt I thought enough is enough I can not go into contract with these when tomorrow is the last day I thought I had to get out now. Told him I was recording the call and he was fine with it, I have emailed called etc and never had any acknowledgement I had cancelled until I went with another supplier found an email in my spam from origin informing me that they will be taking nearly £300 via the usual Direct Debit there was no direct debit I had cancelled it but they still managed to take it on the 2/9/20 then on the 4/9/20 just two days later I had another email again in my spam folder informing me exactly the same time thing it was an early termination fee but instead of £297.75 it was £279.90 and coming out just two weeks after on the 14/9/20.
Iv asked for managers to call my emails are just getting ignored please steer Clear of this company I wish I’d of had the heads up. I have only ever had the same email send word for word “sorry we have not come to a mutually agreeable resolution” and have now passed it on to the ombudsman. They haven’t once tried to resolve the issue!
I paid the initial £23.99 on the 14/7/20 and they have kept my details and last 3 digits of the card I used or set up a continuous payment authority without my permission I have never even heard of them before.

Waste of time and money

Waste of time and money. The firewall on the router was blocking the website i need for work. After waiting nearly an hour to speak to someone they initially tried to pass the buck then after 70 minutes on the phone they said it could be the firewall. I should just switch it off while i work. Hardly an ideal solution. I then asked why it wasn't working with my sky box to be told it was a known issue and the hope to sort it soon. Helpful as ever!

Truly shocking

Honestly, awful. I waited over a month with no internet provided. Waited for their engineer who never showed up. Called to ask when they were coming to be told I would get an email in the next 48 hours. Shocking shocking service. Passed from person to person. Never got internet in the end and had to go elsewhere as they couldn't give me any idea of a timeframe for internet (over a MONTH) after my original order.

I made the mistake of signing up for Origin broadband

I made the mistake of signing up for origin broadband as one of their representatives contacted me on the phone but after reading some very bad reviews I called them and cancelled the contract on the same day. It took me about 30 minutes on hold to get trough to someone from customer services and they assured me that I would receive a conformation e-mail within 48 hours. After four days I called them back to check the status of my cancelled order as I did not receive an e-mail an they said then that it would take 3-5 working days to complete the cancellation so I decided to try their chat assistant and again after a lot of waiting they said that they don't send conformation e-mails for cancellation which I was assured I would receive on two separate occasions and I was asked to take a screenshot of the conversation as a proof which sounds a bit shady. I'm glad that I did't continue with their services as it was less than an hour after placing the order that I tried to cancel it and they have lied to me several times.

Worst Utility Ever.

Worst Utility ever. Cut off service with no notice. 45 mins on hold TWICE. direct debit payment paid every month since 2017. Apparently due to their accounts 'error' there was a month o/s. Origin have the direct debit - take the payment ? No they said was I in 'debt management' and cut off my service with no notice or reason.Oh yes I've time to write this because I'm on hold again.

If I could give zero review I would

If I could give zero review I would. Avoid them like the plague!!! No joke. Gave me a start date for 3 weeks. One week before start date I call. They had not even processed my order and said the girl forgot to do it and no long worked for them. I had to then go find another supplier and got a start date another 2 and half weeks later. They then put the order through. Then though I had called 5 times to let me know I had a new supplier as they are incompetent. Set up the direct debit 4 times and each time I cancelled (maybe more now they are still doing it). And insist they are going to supply my property even though I am now with my new supplier. Customer service terrible. Called again today and told my service would be cancelled but would get an early termination charge and if I did not pay it, it would give me terrible credit so better I just pay it!!!! No Manager ever called me back. Worst mistake of my life AVOID AVOID!!!!

I wish i had read the reviews on…

I wish i had read the reviews on trustpilot prior to signing up with Origin, everyone has the same opinion on how poor the customer service is and the broadband service they offer they should NOT be allowed to operate as a company, they are misleading they do not reply to emails, telephone calls ( waiting time for call can be upto 45 minutes then they drop your call when you try to explain the problems) even line chat wont respond keep waiting but nobody will respond, since we signed up on the 8th July we have had nothing but problems, They never took over the line from Sky, so we we were paying Origin and SKY the whole month until i had to cancel with sky which meant we lost our landline number, they offered a refund of £34.00 which im still waiting for all they give are false promises Dreadful company.
It ts now the end of August and they still haven't responded to resolve the broadband speed.
ORIGIN must be the worst company provider.
i've been in touch with Ofcom who have given advice and i'm now taking this to the ombudsman because of their failure to provide the service i signed up for.
be aware before you sign up with Origin and read trustpilots reviews.
