Horrible experience!!

Horrible experience!!! NEVER BUY A VISA GIFT CARD AGAIN!!! - I would give them negative stars if I could. Too much pain. I tried to use this card multiple times and it was always rejected, I called the company many times to get a replacement, I never received it and now they can't give me a replacement because this company CHARGES A HIGH MONTHLY FEE and takes your money UNTIL YOUR BALANCE IS ZERO!

I don't think this practice is legal, and if it is, they should eliminate it for the customer protection. They make sure to charge a monthly fee on your gift card and make sure you won't be able to use it until they have taken all your money!

12 month and they charge you 3$ admin fees / month

After 12 month you buy this card, they charge you 3$ a month of admin fees. Even if the Expiry date is further. This is such a scam. Do not buy these cards.

My kids received a 50$ Perfect Gift Visa card. We try to teach them to save money. Imagine there disapointment when they learn that the card has 0$ balance because they did not spend it quickly enough.

I was with my daughter the day she bought it. Today is September 2023. They CLAIM to start charging their 3.oo month fee a year after purchase. They LIE!! I JUST opened and registered it to find it's balance is 25.00. These people are THIEVES DONT buy their products!!!!!!

Beware of expiration dates people!

If I could give this a negative 10 star review I would. I have over $250 in unclaimed "The Perfect Gift" cards due to the fact that they expired. However the expiration is underneath the sticker on the front of the card asking you to register it. Being unaware that a Visa gift card could expire, I was very annoyed. So many people spend so much money to gift me these cards, only for them to expire because I had no idea there was an expiration on them. And in all honesty, Visa, you should be ashamed. Putting an expiration on a gift card. Just terrible!

FRAUD

When i went to use my $250 gift card and checked my balance prior to use because i did see there were fees each month, i only discovered someone had used my card . It had been sealed in the packaging until that moment i was ready to use it. And to top it off it was used in another province 10 hours away. And of coarse there is nothing they can do
I have seen many MANY complaints of the same problem so it's definitely inside fraud ! You people do nothing to protect the users. Who cares if that money was need for groceries ro feed your kids, or gas in your car to go to work. I will never again trust this gift card company and will make sure noone i know ever uses you again either.

If I can give it a ZERO

If I can give it a ZERO. I would. Pretty much you buy the card. The activation fee starts right away.

You might as well give a person Amazon gift card that’s more useful.

Their customer service is comparable to garbage.

Stay away from this company and gift cards

I received the card as a gift a few years ago, but had put it aside and had actually forgotten about it. When I finally realized I had it, I tried using it to make a purchase at a department store. I was told that the transaction couldn’t go through, so when I returned home, I investigated any transactions on the card. Be aware that monthly fees are taken off the gift balance of the card. Once activated, read all the fine print…customer service said that it’s written during activation, however I would suspect most people don’t read through all the agreement details and don’t know that there are these stipulations. If the card is not used within a year, monthly charges are deducted until nothing is left on the card. Complete disappointment. They prey on the fact that most people activating the card will not go through all the agreement details, and they intentionally don’t make the fees obvious. Although they can hide behind the argument that it’s on their website and that we agreed to the terms, it’s nothing more than deceptive practices and morally reprehensible.

By Canadian law there is supposed to be no expiration on gift cards . Well, I found my misplaced cards today . Opened up the packages they were in , expiration dates . 700$ worth of useless cards . Their call center just keeps booting you off . Visa keeps saying how sorry they are but they also eventually boot you off . Scam scam scam . Stay far away .

Total Scam...but we all know this already

Total Scam.... nothing new to report.
Same story - had a few gift cards that were unused ($150) . Went to use it and it was gone with fees and activation fees.
Did a little digging and found out that these two companies are responsible for this fraud.
Maybe a few ( or thousands ) emails / tweets / posts to these guys might

Blackhawk Network Canada, which distributes the Perfect Gift Visa cards on behalf of Peoples Trust, told CBC News in a emailed statement the monthly fees "support the program operations."

Hidden fees and not worth it

Not only is there an activation charge, but once these cards "expire" they charge a $3 per month maintenance fee, meaning your balance can be zero in a very short time.

Just give actual gift cards or cash for gifts. This company is BS.

It steals you 3$ per month

I received this prepaid credit card and when I activated the card the balance was 16$ when initially it was 25$. This card bills people 3$ per month either it's activated by the recipient or not. Will not recommend it. Reap off

We received a few of these as a gift at…

We received a few of these as a gift at our baby shower. 10 months later we try to use them and most of the balance is gone from "monthly service fees."

I don't know how they are allowed to charge a $3 monthly service fee on a small value gift card ($50 or $100) to dwindle down your balance to zero.

According to CBC, "Blackhawk Network Canada, which distributes the Perfect Gift Visa cards on behalf of Peoples Trust, told CBC News in a emailed statement the monthly fees "support the program operations."

The statement goes on to say the Perfect Gift Visa Prepaid Cards issued by Peoples Trust Company comply with the Federal Prepaid Payment Products regulations that have been in place since 2014."

I dont care if it's legal, this is unethical, seems like a scam and should be illegal. If you're charging a 72% annual service fee on a $50 gift card, this is egregious.

There ARE other prepaid Visa cards out there that you can buy that specifically say "No fees after purchase" and "no monthly fees." Buy those cards for your friends and family, not these.

theperfectgift prepaid SCAM

The company I work for gets prepaid cards for our end of year bonus... I just went to use mine the other day and had to check the transaction history to find out only 9 days after it was purchased some "company" in the USA charged out 99% of the $400 on the card leaving $1.88 left. I am in Canada and the card remained sealed in the package on my computer desk at home until I went to use it. Since it is past 60 days they will not do anything about it even though it is an obvious scam. I looked up the company and they are mirroring another company in the USA and are obviously foreigners since the fake website is full of grammar and spelling mistakes, you couldn't click on anything and there was no additional information. My wife and I were saving the bonus for when our daughter was born. We had just picked out some things to buy and unfortunately couldn't use the card.
