Secure Redmine hosting with excellent support
I could have easily set up Redmine on my own server. The reason I chose planio is that I want personal support and I do not want to care about maintaining and securing a software that is not within my core business.
While the documentation about certain Redmine features is sparse, it is the planio support that makes the difference. Emails are answered within a few hours and answers are on topic instead of the usual prepared messages some support centers use.
planio's integration of git and svn is superb. It is, besides support, the main reason why I chose planio. git integration is key to successful project management if you're a web or software developer.
What would I like to see improved?
I think the handling of email dropbox responses could really be improved. Cutting off quoted text in email replies did not work well so far. Basecamp did a much better job in handling this.
While I would not want to miss the personal support, I would like to see more documentation and tutorials (short screencasts) on how to set things up. planio has already started tackling this issue in part by setting up a blog with informational posts. In general setting things up is the hardest part, Redmine has a lot of options and you really need to understand how Redmine works to make full use of its features. This is where I would like to see more documentation.
Starting with Redmine on planio could also be improved if some options had better presets (especially email notifications and templates) or were already configured in a way that makes sense for most uses. A demo project would also help to grasp some concepts and to see Redmine in action. To be fair though, planio already has a small introduction to the interface built in.
In general, please stay close to your customers needs, it is the main reason why I left Basecamp. They were not willing to improve and grow with their customers. Talks with them were frustrating because often they did not acknowledge the needs of customers who have a growing business. Their newest version dropped German language support while it was already present in the earlier version.
Regarding mobile support, there is RedminePro for iOS, maybe you could buy the app or hire the developer and improve upon it. This app is a nice start but it has not yet the quality that I would expect from a professional app.
In general I haven't seen better commercial Redmine hosting than what planio offers.
Keep up the good job!

Very good manager, but not perfect
We are using Planio one year and must say it's very good. The overall system works fine, the navigation and design is also very good. Also we like very fast Planio Team response to our letters. We like the latest feature of saving issue's editings
.
But sure, there are some issues which could be improved (have read all ENG reviews below):
1. Last months Planio crashes quite often - 3 times this year we can't access to the service, they say it's of the server issues.
2. It would be good to have Auto-save option - when the issue is prepared and you accidentally close the browser window to lose all data you've entered.
3. Please add some more options to the Documents - so that it would be possible to group them, add different categories. Also, why do I need to see the beginning of each document text in the Documents tab - when there are many documents it's very long string. I.e. it would be good the have Documents arranged just like issues.
4. What's the "Track time" option? I need timer to: start time when I start working on issue >> issues changes the status to In Progress >> all users connected to the issue see the change >> I stop/pause the timer when finished the issue >> issues changes status >> all users see that.
5. The main conceptual issue is that Planio works not very well on mobile device like iPad, iPhone or Kindle Fire. Elements/text are small and and it's hard to work with it there.
In general - we reccomend Panio!

Good potential, but need some improvements.
Plan.io is on the good track but there is still a few areas that need improvement to be a top player in project and code management.
- We couldn't import our data from Assembla at 100%. Admittedly they did their best effort to incorporate as much data as possible from our backups.
- Very basic and cumbersome way of assigning parent-child task relationships.
- Limited payment options. Tried to pay with a corporate Maestro card, but there was simply no way. Had to use my personal Visa card.
- No e-mail notifications to team members on GIT commits.
- No color coding for task priorities EDIT: They do have this in the list view, my mistake!
And some other minor details.
We are generally happy with plan.io, its simplified approach compared to Assembla (too complex to our current needs), and we are sure they will grow to improve all these and many other lingering issues.
They do have a superb customer service, which helps make the minor issues to be less annoying :)

Replaced three other tools for us
Project management, issue tracking and helpdesk in one tool. Planio
has replaced Zendesk, Redmine and Sourcerepo for us and is much better integrated while saving us a lot of money. I'm very glad I found this.
Customer service was super-friendly, too.
Awesome customer service!
They helped me import my old Redmine data. One less thing to worry about!
