I am very disappointed with my experience with Planet Rental Car. I have been waiting for almost a month for my refund, and every time I contact them I receive different explanations with no clear resolution. Communication has been poor and unhelpful, and I feel like I am being passed from one excuse to another instead of getting my issue properly handled.

This process has taken far too long and has caused unnecessary stress. A company should be transparent and efficient when dealing with customers’ money, but unfortunately this was not my experience here. I would not recommend Planet Rental Car based on the lack of professionalism and slow response in resolving my case.

I was scammed through this website. I wouldn’t trust it. I did the booking through the official website and days after my car rental I was charged extra 300 euros, Amex told me they could have shared my card information with handler and had to cancel my card during holidays which was inconvenient.

I arrived to collect the car when the branch informed me they cannot accept Monzo bank credit card. I went to hire a car with Evis instead.

To receive my refund for this unsuccessful hire, I had to chase the company over four weeks until eventually when I requested to fill in a complaint they told me my refund is on its way.

I will never use their services again.

First time using this service, the prices were the most competitive, the conditions (excess / debit card / deposit) the clearest and it was so easy to book. All the information was in the one place. When I got sick (hospitalised) the night before my travel, I emailed
planet. My reservation was past cancellation but they came back to me a few days later with a refund offer anyway. Such good service. Even on the phone they are quick, efficient and polite. I recommend this service (and I’ve used loads over the years!)

I made two bookings through the app.
Both bookings did not show on the app. They just put an email I never heard of it so never received any confirmation and it was impossible to make a cancellation.
Tried to call them many times and asked me to ring 9am so rang again.
Obviously they made a mistake and despite my trying many many times, many emails sent with not a single reply, I didn’t get a refund and they kept all the money when I tried to cancel 48 h before!
They also advertise nice cars and they always give you the worst there is available. Not fair. When took it to the rental company they blame them and say they do it all the time and lie to customers.
I found all very fraudulent and will never use them again.
To the date no one has contacted me for an explanation.

Very disappointing experience. Please be aware that this company is not based inside the airport, and it was very unclear where to collect the car.
The collection instructions were not clear, and despite calling several times and following the directions provided, I was unable to find the correct pick-up point. This caused a lot of stress and wasted time.
In the end, I did not collect or use the car, but I was still charged. Communication about the refund process has also been slow and unclear.
I would not recommend this company unless they improve their collection instructions and customer support.

Terrible experience.
I booked a car with fully covered insurance and when I arrived in Spain I find out there was not cover on the car.
This cost me another 150 pound on top of what I already paid.
They cover only the excess and they will do refund ( maybe)
I spoke on the phone with one of them to have the refund of the insurance and they declined
Very terrible experience.
Don’t book with them if you don’t want to pay extra money when you go abroad.

Extremely disappointed with Planet Rental Cars.

We booked through Planet Rental Cars and were referred to Magic Island Rental Cars in Madeira, who have now withheld our €1500 deposit despite the vehicle being returned with no damage at all. We were promised the deposit would be refunded within 14 business days, but it has now been over a month with no repayment and no meaningful communication.

What makes this even worse is that Planet Rental Cars have completely ignored our attempts to contact them about the issue initially and were no help when they did get back to us. As the company that referred us to this rental provider, they should be taking responsibility and assisting customers when serious problems arise — instead they have simply disappeared and failed to respond.

After researching online, we discovered many similar complaints from other customers involving withheld deposits and unanswered communications. It is extremely concerning that Planet Rental Cars continue directing customers to a company with such a poor track record.

Customer service has been non-existent, accountability has been zero, and the entire experience has caused unnecessary stress and financial concern.

I would strongly advise others to avoid booking through Planet Rental Cars unless you are prepared to risk being abandoned if something goes wrong.

Airport pick up went well, car was clean & as advertised. however took a month to get my fuel deposit back

No hassle with the booking desk very polite and confident and efficient.
The car was not in the best superficial condition ( always remember to video of vehicle on pickup) quite a few dinks and scratches. Overall I would book with Planet Rental cars on my next trip.

I booked my rental through Planet Rental Cars, who sourced the vehicle from Hertz. Unfortunately, the experience with the actual vehicle collection and rental process was disappointing.
I had originally requested a petrol vehicle, but upon arrival at the Hertz location I was informed that only an electric vehicle was available. As first-time EV users, this immediately created some uncertainty and stress, particularly as we had no previous experience with charging electric cars.
At collection, we were given an RFID charging card, but the explanation of how it worked was delivered very quickly and was difficult for us to fully understand. The staff member was not particularly approachable or welcoming, which made us hesitant to ask further questions when we were confused.
When we later attempted to charge the vehicle, the RFID card would not work. Because we did not fully understand the charging process and were unable to obtain assistance at the time, we had no choice but to pay for charging ourselves using our own payment method.
We have since provided evidence of these charging payments and requested reimbursement. While the vehicle itself was fine, customers who are given an electric vehicle instead of the type originally requested should receive clear instructions and adequate support, especially if they have never driven an EV before.
Overall, the lack of communication, support, and the additional inconvenience and unexpected costs significantly impacted what should have been a straightforward rental experience.

great car and free shuttle, slightly confusing pricing options

Disgrace how they made me beg for my refund for services not provided. Customer service, should be ashamed. But still probably one of the best in an awfully governed industry! Do not use Gold car company!! They are the absolute worst(total scammers)

Good options at a reasonable rate. Avis provided us with a brand new car. Thanks.

We rented a car for 2 weeks from Thrifty through Planet Rentalcars. They say on their website what you pay is it - NOT TRUE! We were charged an EXTRA $800 on arrival for a SMALLER car. With no other choice, we were forced to pay it. We were expecting maybe a deposit of around $200 or so.... But $800?! We were told they couldn't honour the deal we'd got through Planet Rentalcars and we could basically pay the $800 or not have a car at all and no refund for the money we'd already paid.

Absolute rubbish. Don't recommend and will never use again.

From collecting the car from Eindhoven airport, the office was positioned just outside the terminal and was staffed by two very friendly members of staff. Vincent looked after us and explain everything and dealt with our questions and queries with a high level professionalism and competence .i would mention Vincent as he was a great public face to your company, I had to send the women away as they were making up question to ask so they could talk to him for longer.

All good hertz were very good and helpful

Absolutely first class....my go to from here on in.

Easy to book online! Easy pick up and return. No hanging about waiting. All straightforward. Michael was very helpful when I returned the car
