I had 7 Electrical Installation Condition Reports done by Polarity Electrics subcontracted via MyConstructor.com. All 7 were assessed unsatisfactory. The Polarity Electrics electrician took less than 5 hours to do ALL 7 inspections where the Certsure guidance is 3 to 4 hours EACH. The electrician failed to inspect any switches or sockets at all. There followed various exchanges with MyConstructor, Polarity Electrics and its regulatory body NICEIC who confirmed that NONE of the alleged unsatisfactory items were in fact a problem as they complied fully with the 16th Edition of the Wiring Regulations which applied when the installations were done. Polarity should have given 7 satisfactory reports. Instead Polarity had quoted over £1700 do do this entirely unnecessary work, which another qualified electrician priced at £200! Polarity Electrics refused to come back and do the job properly, MyConstructor refused to find an alternative electrician. I eventually had the fee returned but in my view Polarity Electrics are in it to rip unsuspecting landlords off with extortionate prices for doing completely unnecessary work. Knowing what Polarity are like it is frightening that MyConstructor have used Polarity Electrics to do over 500 EICRs and are continuing to use them. NICEIC seem to be utterly useless too in terms of allowing their members to behave in this dishonest way without sanction. I suggest everyone avoids MYConstructor, Polarity Electrics and any other NICEIC approved contractor.
Booked an EICR via Myconstructor, they passed this to Polarity Electrics Ltd, for 12:00 - 13:30 appointment, at 13:30 Polarity electrics texted to say could not attend, tried calling and they did not answer, texted them to call me and they did not call, only text messages. Complained to Myconstructor and they booked me with someone else.
I will not use Polarity Electrics Ltd, customer service is poor.
Engineer arrived between agreed times, completed the job as agreed. Very happy with finished job.
Unfortunately some mistake happened and I called in this website. Electrician come and fixed the problem. Have no objections about this.. Thanks..
Do not keep scheduled bookings
I had an appointment with them for 2 April for an EICR report (required by law), paid for in advance via a site called MYCONSTRUCTOR CORP LIMITED. With total disregard that this was essential, they abruptly cancelled the day before at 12pm via text and asked if they could reschedule for 13th April. I refused as I only booked them as the first available contractor. What a bad system if appointments can be booked but not attended.
So I had an appointment with them. Booked 10 days ago for 1 April for an EICR report (required by law), paid for in advance via a site called MYCONSTRUCTOR CORP LIMITED. With total disregard that this was essential, they abruptly cancelled the day before at 12:59 via text and asked if they could reschedule for 15th April. They refused answering subsequent text messages and then ignored me. Totally. If you are ever forced into using them, ensure you don't pay until AFTER services rendered. On a side note, Myconstructor were great and were able to rapidly sort out a different engineer. So hats off to them as a company.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS
Polarity were called in to fix a loose connection from their first job a few weeks prior. Zach (spelling?) came round without a mask. When asked politely if he would like a fresh, clean, and unused mask he became confrontational and told me to "back off otherwise we'd have a problem". I was shocked and made to feel very uncomfortable in my own home. I reported his behaviour to Adrian who, while apologising for Zach's appalling behaviour and attitude, did nothing to assure this would never happen again. I asked for an apology but never received one and don't expect I ever will.
Choose a company that actually values the customer experience. Choose any place other than Polarity. They are devious and hide costs until they invoice you and have to come back a second time to fix their first efforts with horrible staff!
These people are scammers, avoid. They draw you in with a low price for an EICR certificate then present you with a £199 bill for remedial work on a 8 year old flat. I have called twice asking for a proper breakdown of the work and am simply told "the price is the price." Now I have to go to another contractor to get the certificate done as they are clearly unstrustoworthy
Oldest trick in the book, Cheap quote for an electric cert and then holding you hostage buy overcharging on small items: £250 to replace a light fixture.
Really should have checked here first, dont do the same mistake - AVOID
"Buy cheap, buy twice."
Booked with Polaris as their rates online for an EICR were extremely competitive. However, I should have read the previous reviews as I fell into the same trap as others.
The electrician turned up on time, was polite and appeared thorough.
I had to chase for the certificate, to be told that the property had failed in several areas and I had 28 days to rectify a quote of over £2000 for remedial work.
Not what I was expecting as the property had been completely rewired 10 years ago and the building inspectors had signed it off as satisfactory.
Once I read the Polaris reviews online, I booked another electrician, from a local company, to carry out a repeat EICR and it passed with only 2 x C3s.
I am now joining the long list of people Polaris scammed. Buy cheap, buy twice.
I wouldn't recommend this company, I wish I'd read the reviews before asking them to carry out an EICR. There was no testing involved, the person spent 90% of their time at the circuit board. I've yet to receive a report, roughly 5-7 working days for that along with an estimate to carry out the work. I'm guessing the estimate will be think of a number, double it then add a zero. I could have the work done and ask them to come back and it would still be a fail.
The remaining time he was here he counted plug sockets and light fittings.
The person doing the report was rude, he had to return as he switched off a main power supply, which he switched back on when returning then turned it off again straight away which I pointed out to him!!!
DO NOT USE! Just money grabbers.
They asked for us to leave the sockets open so they could inspect the inside wiring Which I thought you couldn’t do but they requested it. Then sent us a certificate failing the inspection and reason was none other then ‘ open sockets’ what a despicable thing to do also the worker had no safety ppe on.. scrap them and get an honest electrician like Fensome electric he’s on check a trade.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY .We had an EICR electrical test. They will offer you a really attractive price to get the job then invent work to be carried out to get the certificate. I know this to be the case as we had another firm do the EICR test who past the property with no faults, Polarity wanted me to pay £100 to replace a faulty socket that didn't exist !
Very competitive pricing for the initial EICR inspection. Exorbitant quote for the remedial work. They trap you with low prices initially but really hit you later with a damning report which is exaggerated.
PLEASE SEE SOMEBODY ELSE’S REVIEW OF 23 MAY HEADED “I DON’T TRUST THEM, I DON’T TRUST THEM EITHER.
I asked for an Electrical Inspection Condition Report as their feed were low, I could not use my usual electrician because he was a vulnerable person under COVID. To my surprise, Polarity found 5 C2 issues plus a C3. They new I had to get the issues sorted for insurance purposes. I asked a different qualified electrician to give us a second opinion who confirmed none of the C2s should be graded as such, C3 at worst, but I now had to run with it. Not showing him Polarity’s quote for remedial works he quoted £300, Polarity were £850 plus 20% VAT, so £1020. Additionally Polarity want to do a second report after 3 months (no doubt they will find something else wrong!) at extra cost to me, the independent electrician said that even if the remedial works were a C2 and not a C3 as they should be, the extra report I’d not necessary. TRUST THIS ROTTEN COMPANY AT YOUR PERIL, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
Excellent service on a commercial Electrical Installation Condition Report in an old Grade 1 listed property.
Prompt initial response, returned telephone calls and, quick date for appointment.
Engineer - Aaron - was a nice guy and very, very efficient. We would not hesitate to have him back for any repairs or upgrades.
Very professional and prompt. The only thing that I got caught on was that it takes between 5-7 working days to issue the report. It is not Polarity Electrics' fault though (I hadn't read their terms of business email), hence, the 5 star rating. Would definitely use again.
On time, very competent Electrician(Jamie). Impressed with his ability to explain any questions I had and explained stage by stage operations.Clean and tidy worker.
Nothing to reproach to the company.
It would have been nice for the on-site technician to explain a bit better the different tasks he was doing for my DEICR (for this I would have removed 1/2 a star).
You cannot go wrong with using this company who will give you a fair price and be responsive to your questions. I would use them again.
I’ve been let down twice they were supposed to fit ring doorbell on Tuesday but I got a message in k morning to say they couldn’t fit it that day, they would come out Wednesday afternoon so i waited all day, nothing, no messages now nothing but silence
They sent the wrong person by lying to him that I said something but nobody spoke to me in the first place they made it all up
