Do not book with this company. JAKE HILLERY. I Paid £800 for a course only to turn up and it was cancelled 10mins before it was due to start. This was over a week ago and I’ve not heard from anyone- it’s clear I’ve been scammed. The online presence looked great and I’m normally very good at spotting scams- not this time unfortunately. I’ve commented on Jake’s personal page and he’s now blocked me. I really hope people see this review and don’t lose their money.

I recently attended a course with quarters barbering academy ,where I went in as a beginner who never held any of the equipment before. I now have the confidence and the skills to be able to cut and style hair on my own. I’m really happy with the services and support i received whilst learning. Jack was a really good tutor. Would 100% recommend this place to Learn if you’re looking to get into the industry.

Jack is an amazing teacher, very helpful and approachable, I had 0 experience in barbering, couldn't even hold a pair of scissors and clippers properly, 2 weeks on, I feel ready to start my career in barbering, thanks to him. I was also lucky enough to have great classmates, we got on very well. While you're at it, The Jewellery Quarter in Birmingham is also worth visiting, lovely pubs and places to chill. My missus and I went out after my class almost everyday of the two weeks we were there. 5 stars. 😎

Just completed my 2 week barbering course in Birmingham. All I can say is it’s incredible, Jack was such a good tutor. Such a great course with everything you need to go into the world of barbering. 5 stars are really not enough. If your serious about getting into barbering then this is the course 👌👌👌

went not knowing anything about barbering but jack is an excellent teacher who has taught me so much. i fully recommend doing this course.

A amazing experience with the quarters barbering school. Went there for absolutely 0 knowledge and have left feeling confident enough to jump straight onto a shop floor.

For anyone looking to enter the industry I would highly recommend . Also the pricing is so much cheaper than any other barbering school.

A lot of people talking about scam, I did my course, got a certificate, now i’m a certified barber. Learnt alot from Josh and I am still in touch with his bro Jake. Opened shop and I am training barbers now.

I attended the Deluxe Barbering course at The Quarters Barbering Academy in Northampton in January and it was an absolute disaster from start to finish.

I raised serious concerns during the first week—about the freezing conditions, lack of equipment, and poor training—and I was completely ignored. One student actually walked out after just three days, which I now wish I had done too.

The course was nothing like what was advertised. The building was freezing, there was no hot water, and one day the lights failed while we were working on models, which was not only unprofessional but unsafe.

The equipment situation was a joke—one clipper guard and one hairdryer between several students. A fellow student ended up lending out her personal kit just so we could practise. The course itself was completely one-dimensional—two full weeks of fades and nothing else. No shaving, no theory, no hygiene training. One day we were so under-stimulated, a student started practising fades on his own arm hair out of boredom.

The trainer was often late, once left us outside in the cold for 40 minutes, and even spent time playing darts for money with another student while the rest of us were left without guidance. We were also left completely on our own on more than one occasion while working on live models—surely this breaches insurance or health and safety policies, not to mention the clear lack of professionalism. One day of training was just cancelled altogether because the tutor was off sick—no cover provided.

After all this, I made a formal complaint and was offered a £150 refund by the owner, Jake. He acknowledged the course had failed me and asked for my bank details—but despite multiple follow-ups over several weeks, that refund has still not been paid and now my messages are just being ignored.

I was also given the option to redo the course in Northampton with a better tutor, which I initially agreed to. But when I followed up to confirm, I was told that tutor would no longer be leading the class. Then I was offered a spot on the Birmingham course instead, but that was not acceptable as I live in Northampton and the cost of fuel, parking and two weeks unpaid time off would only add to the financial strain. I've already lost enough money and time.

I paid £749.25 for this course and have received nothing close to what was promised. I'm now having to pay again for proper training elsewhere. I’ve been more than patient and professional, but it’s clear this academy has no intention of doing the right thing.

Do not waste your money. Once they have it, they simply don’t care. I’ve been lied to, messed around, and let down at every turn.

Unprofessional and Misleading – Avoid Quaters Barbering Academy

I enrolled in a course at Quaters Barber Academy and had a terrible experience from start to finish. They changed the course dates without informing me. I only found out the session was cancelled when I called them while already on my way. I had taken two weeks off work for this course, which was completely wasted.

The owner, Jake, apologized and said I could complete the course in one week instead of two, with extra hours to make up for it — but those hours never happened. On the final day, Jake didn’t even show up or notify us. He just sent someone else (named Jack) with no warning. Jack was polite and promised I’d still receive my certificate.

Jake then sent me a form to confirm I was happy with the course. He told me he’d post my certificate the next morning once I signed it — it’s been three weeks and I still haven’t received anything. I’ve been chasing both Jake and Jack, and all I get is, “Don’t worry, we’ll send it.” Still nothing.

To make things worse, I think they clearly pay or make some fake accounts to leave fake 5-star reviews. Don’t fall for it. This place is completely unprofessional and feels like a scam. They take your money, make big promises, and disappear. They don’t care who you are .. I was trying to be polite and understanding but that’s it they just taking a fool out of me , anyway karma will come back for them 😉 so people please avoid this place if you don’t wanna be next….

ABSOLUTE SCAM!

I’ve waited to write this review because I’ve been chasing Jake for my money back since he sold me a course in Manchester which he didn’t bother showing up to! Instead he sent an ex student who only passed themselves 6 weeks prior to come teach us, he then when confronted about it said he would give me a refund because he even admitted the course wasn’t what was sold to me and I’m STILL having to chase it with the bank to get this refund, I got offered a partial refund for a course that I didn’t do because the “teacher” had no clue what he was doing he actually worked in a JD factory which is unacceptable I want a FULL refund like it was agreed! the guy is a joke and I would urge people to avoid these courses at all costs! I don’t know how he has got all these good reviews it must of cost him a fortune to get them because he is a scam artist.

PLEASE BE CAUTIOUS!!

Very disappointed with the owner of this business. I paid for my partner to attend 10 days worth of training. The academy was closed for one of those days where I have requested for that 1 day to be refunded, which is a fair ask. The owner Jake Hillary is now ignoring me after he has been bombarding me to sign a form which if you sign ensures nothing can come back on you because you were happy with the course. Get your training done somewhere else, my partner told me that the equipment is dreadfu (what there was of it), poor quality equipment, no cleaning of the ewuipment students having to share, the place was dirty, hair left for days, had to ask for disinfectant, (sure environmental health would love that) people walked out of the course because of the training, it was shocking. He's lucky I have not requested the full balance back but I'm not robbing anyone like he is!!!! Honestly Jake, I suggest you refund my days money and don't rob me. Your so unprofessional it's ridiculous You should be embarrassed Jake. Your no business person and no decent person. I run a business myself and I would never treat people in this manner.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE GUYS AND SPEND YOU MONEY WISELY - YOULL GET ROBBED, DONT LEARN THE BASICS AND ARE THROWN INTO IT. MY PARTNER ONLY SURVIDED BECAUSE HED DONE A BARBERING COURSE PRIOR.

Cancelled appointment after we were at the door and the work phone number was going straight to voicemail. Had they been professional they would have cancelled well in advance, saving me fuel and parking charges. This event just proved to me that they do not value your time.
The excuse by the man I eventually got hold of was that the barber is sick. Publicly available information shows there is only one employee. So he was speaking as if he was a third party (and did not sound sick).

I did my barbering course in April last year and enjoyed every day of it learning under Jake. This is really one of those experiences that you get out what you put in!

when arriving at the course in Birmingham I was so excited to see the shop we were working in beautiful shop in the jewelry quarter in Birmingham amazing location. Jake made it feel like a real shop with a constant flow of models to work on.

From day 3 to the end of the course I was constantly cutting hair learning different techniques and being reminded of what to do and not to do. Jake gave me the freedom to work by myself but also coming over and teaching when necessary.

Days were so busy sometimes I was cutting through scheduled lunch but I mean that’s what a real barbers life is like!

Jake ordered all the barbers a dominos out of his own pocket which he didn’t have to do! (This happened on multiple occasions)

Nearly a year later I have regular clients and cut hair part time around my full time job this was always my aim from the start of the course. I came out so confident I can not recommend it enough to anyone thinking about it.

Since finishing my course I have reached out to Jake for advice on multiple occasions asking for advice and have always had a reply in really good time.

Kickstarted my career in barbering by the time I finished the course I had done around 40 haircuts start to finish by myself so had loads of photos for my portfolio to really boost my career.

You are NOT going to get any other barbering experience like this in 2 weeks people.

I've done course in 2021. As I can see through other comments nothing changed. Avoid people. Avoid.

Just finished a 2 week course in the Birmingham academy and honestly can not fault it, my tutor jack was an absolute legend and had time and patience and could always go to him if you had a question. The course helped me loads and found something I want to do for not just a hobby but a career path. Thanks to jack again can’t fault the lad.

I have just completed my 2 weeks deluxe course in Camden Town with Tim and I can’t thank him or the quarters enough. They have given me so much knowledge in the past 2 weeks that Im now more than confident to tackle any hair. Highly recommend the academy whether you are near Birmingham,Northampton or London. You wont be dissapointed.

What a great course can’t recommend enough. What a great experience I had went in there with next to know experience and come out knowing how to do skin fades beards and more. Jack is a great teacher and a great laugh
