Great customer service and support

Travis was very patient with me as I had issues logging on and it look a little while to get connected, but he gave clear instructions which helped immensely. He explained everything in great detail and was kind and courteous answering my questions comprehensively.

Qucikbooks constantly changes their…

Qucikbooks constantly changes their online profile. Without consultation with their customers. We have to endlessly work out the best way to manage our accounts. PLUS why on earth do they only show 3 months of overdue invoices. I recommend everyone to select the drop down of 12 months else you may miss many overdue invoices owed to you

What a Disaster the New QuickBooks Self Employed is.

I used the old self-employed version of Intuit QuickBooks for years and honestly thought it was excellent. It was simple, affordable, easy to understand, and did exactly what most self-employed people in the UK actually need without being overcomplicated.

You could connect multiple bank accounts and cards, quickly categorise transactions as business or personal, create invoices easily, and at any point clearly see what your estimated tax position looked like. It also remembered previous categorisations properly, which saved huge amounts of time. For a self-employed person trying to run a business, it just worked.

Unfortunately, QuickBooks decided to migrate users onto their newer self-employed platform. I understand that changes are needed because of Making Tax Digital and HMRC requirements, but the migration has been a complete mess in my experience.

The biggest issue — and the one that took me nearly a month to figure out — is that the new self-employed system does not properly support multi-currency transactions. If you are UK self-employed but receive payments in dollars or euros, the figures can become inaccurate after migration.

This created huge confusion because my historical figures and tax numbers suddenly no longer matched previous returns. As a business owner, that is obviously extremely worrying.

What frustrates me most is that this problem should surely have been identified before migrating customers from a platform that handled multi-currency transactions into one that apparently does not. It has resulted in hours of calls, stress, and trying to work out whether financial data can still be trusted.

To resolve it, I’ve now been told I need to move onto another QuickBooks product called Essentials at roughly £38 per month, compared to the approximately £14 per month I was previously paying. That is a substantial increase, especially when the migration itself is what caused the issue.

The support staff I spoke with were polite and genuinely tried to help, so I do not blame the frontline support teams. The problem feels much higher up at product and management level.

For me, the whole reason for using QuickBooks was to save time and simplify finances. Instead, this migration has created the opposite: lost hours, uncertainty around data, and now potentially another migration away from QuickBooks entirely.

I have left this review mainly to help other UK self-employed people who may be facing the same issue.

In particular, if you deal with multiple currencies such as USD or EUR alongside GBP, I would strongly recommend checking everything carefully after migration and comparing it against your previous tax return figures and historical data.

Looking through other reviews, it appears I am not the only self-employed person in the UK experiencing these problems.

Confusing New Layout

Quickbooks have launched a new layout which is awful to navigate, time-consuming to use and no where near as efficient as their previous layout. Unfortunately they give customers no choice.

Quick books and Arcelli, 10 stars agent!

I wish i knew this tool Quick books ages ago, it is so professional and simple to work, came to simplify my life, no doubts about it, initially i was reluctant about it but a really good friend of mine told me about it and i took my chance to try. Luckily i had the first impression of the tool with Arcelli my agent, was the first person who took me through all the stuff that i needed to get started and put in on track in every single step, she was focused on my needs all the time, sometimes we had the idea but we can't move and she took every single thought in consideration and made it look absolutely really easy, sometimes the wi-fi connections aren't the best but she got round it and sorted it all, some alterations on the app weren't refreshed on time and she sorted, i am still thinking about what she just done in our appointment on line, well done Arcelli, what an asset to this company, Quick Books have lucky to have her with them. A job is not just a job and she knows about it, made me be more excited and amazed with the accountant stuff now, never thought having this thoughts has a engineer, i use to deal with different heavy stuff not tax man, feeling really relieved to be honest!

Congratulations to Quick Books and Arcelli to make my life easier! 10 STAR Service!

The most difficult company I have dealt…

The most difficult company I have dealt with. Supposed to help small business. I have spent hours unsuccessfully to use it. Firstly, I cannot get it on my laptop without opening another account. Secondly, trying to get started on my phone trying to connect my bank. I had 4 attempts, whilst messages said success, I then had messages saying again, connect to bank, then saying something went wrong, ops they were working to fix it, then others saying something unexpected happened try again. No success 3 hours later. I gather from CHATGPT this is a very common complaint. So far from helping it has wasted hours of my precious time

An excellent help experience

Irish, the assistant at QuickBooks helpline was excellent. She sorted out all my issues which I was having difficulty fixing, after a couple of months use of the software.
It was a very good telephone experience and I would recommend the help facility highly. Well done Irish.

IF YOU HAVE AN ALTERNATIVE DON’T MOVE…

IF YOU HAVE AN ALTERNATIVE DON’T MOVE TO SOLE TRADER PLUS!! I’ve been with quickbooks self employed for 15 year and know my way around the platform, I don’t find the new version difficult despite being constantly told by customer support that I did. My issue is migration and no one from support understanding the actual issue. No bank transactions from before May 2025 have transferred and I’ve been told to do that myself manually. None of my categories from the self employed platform have saved and apparently I have to recategorise everything. My tax summary has saved SOME categories and is different to my bank transactions, so somehow some info has been transferred to some sections but not consistently, so I don’t trust I won’t duplicate by categorising it all again. There is a match and multiple match button beside every single transaction. Some advisors have told me to go through my 896 transactions and match them, others have said don’t, ignore that bit. That’s 896 transactions that I’d already categorised by the way… that I now have to do again… or do I..? Three days of waiting trying to sort it out and no actual answers from support. Asked for the complaint email and was told yes sure, ended the chat and was sent a feedback form. Terrible terrible terrible.

Great experience with onboarding call.

Recently signed up with Quickbooks for my MTD and I had an onboarding call with Andrei, who was very personable and informative, he was able to answer any questions I had very quickly and easily. There was an obvious delay in our call as we were speaking long distance, but this didn't hinder the lesson and was dealt with easily. After speaking with Andrei I feel like I can now complete the task easily.
