Avoid

Avoid! Worst customer service experience ever. Not replying for a week to a main enquiry message. When on a live chat, sending you T's&C's instead of being helpful and representing you for direct supplier.

Avoid!

Avoid!! This was the worst car rental experience I had in my life. I ended up having to pay for a new car rental through another company as the card that I paid with on rentalcars was not accepted by the car rental company itself when I arrived. The company hides important information in the T&Cs.

pure scam & fruod peopels

I rented a car from Rentalcars.com at Belgium Airport for five days, paid a deposit, and provided my credit card details. After returning the car, I noticed a charge of £290 on my credit card. When I inquired about the charge, I was informed it was for driving in a bus lane, which I understand comes with a fine of €58. However, I was charged £72 instead. When I questioned the higher charge, they explained that there was an additional £24 admin fee for each ticket.

I expressed my concern that I should have been allowed to pay the €58 fine directly, but the call was ended abruptly. I believe this is unfair and possibly fraudulent. I strongly advise others to avoid renting from Rentalcars.com and to consider other providers. Be cautious about providing your credit card details.

The stole 100€ from me

I was effectively scammed out of €100.

After booking a car through Rentalcars, I unfortunately arrived late to the pickup point and discovered that the rental company doesn't hold the car if you're more than an hour late. This was surprising since I paid for the entire rental period and this condition was never mentioned during the booking process on Rentalcars. Despite this, I still expected a refund, as I paid for a service I never received.

The next day, I tried to reach out to Rentalcars through their assistance chat, but received no response.

The following day, I called them, only to be told that I wouldn't be reimbursed because I was calling two days after the incident.

To me, this is a blatant scam for the following reasons:

- The requirement to pick up the car within an hour was never disclosed in the contract with Rentalcars.
- They refused to refund me with a flimsy excuse. If a service isn’t provided, a refund should be issued, regardless of when I called.
- I actually attempted to contact them just one day after the incident (as soon as I had time), but they didn’t respond.

Lastly, while I was waiting in line to pick up the car, I noticed that almost everyone there was complaining about issues with Rentalcars.

My advice: Use Rentalcars to compare options, but then book directly on the car rental agency's website to avoid the uncertainty and potential scams of using a third party.

DONT TRUST RENTALCARS! They gave me another car than the one I…

They gave me another car than the one I booked, with many signs that they wanted to charge me! They didn't refund my warranty, nor the gas warranty even though it was full when I delivered it!! And besides, for a small hack they want me to give another 540 euros!! Rentalcars says we can do nothing!! Their reviews are 0 poor!! I would never rent a car from CENTAURO, you forced me to!!! And when I asked for help, rentalcar mock me that you can't do anything!!

wrong returning car location

rentalcars provided us with the wrong returning car location, which led us to late few hours of return, and then we ended up paying the extra one-day fee to Avis. And still, I had not get refund from their stupid fault .not to mention the wrong location ruined our travel plan.

Very disappointing experience

Very disappointing experience; missed rental pick up by an hour due to delayed travel. Sixt gave car away to walk in customer and had no car to rent me. Sixt agreed to cancel reservation with no charge. Rental cars refused to refund the prepaid rental despite not having been charged by Sixt hiding behind its terms and conditions. Pure profit grab on back of frequent customer. Used to book with them to avoid sth like this to happen. Luckily there are various other aggregators not owned by rental cars / booking.com I will use going forward.

Company is pure scam

Company is pure scam. I booked with this company, waited 45 mins to get picked up by shuttle, and ended up being told there's no cars available? Paid $160 in advance, now I get no refund because I chose not to wait 3 days for a car and did not contact them right away? Pathetic excuses to scam your money. Save yourself some money and frustration, do not book with this website ever.

Real scammer

What I dislike is being cheated. I booked and paid for a car at 13:00 with a pick-up time at 15:00. However, at 14:50, while traveling by train from Shrewsbury UK to Telford UK to collect the car, I received a call from Drivalia informing me that the car was unavailable. They asked me to pay £80 more for another car or cancel the booking. I told them that if they didn't have the car, they shouldn’t confirm my booking in the first place, one more why you asked me to cancel while it is your responsibility to provide me the car or cancel the booking, not me. They said they couldn't do that as they had no contact with the booking agent.

I contacted Agoda customer service, who asked me to fill out a form and wait for a reply. I emphasized that the matter was urgent as I was supposed to have the car by then. I had already traveled to collect it and waiting at the train station for a response was impractical. The representative put me on a long hold and then provided two international phone numbers in Japan, which turned out to be for airplane travel services.

With no other options, I had to dispute the payment with my bank. I lost a lot, unable to carry out planned activities over the weekend, as it was Friday and most car rental shops were about to close within two hours and would remain closed over the weekend. I had taken the train to collect the car, while another option was available in Shrewsbury UK at the time of booking but not when Drivalia refused to provide the booked car.

Rentalcar scam

I booked through this company in Bulgaria. The employee of the company in Bulgaria unilaterally decided to cancel the rental. When I made the complaint to Rentalcar, they, without analyzing anything, decided that I should pay for the rented car that I did not benefit from. If you want to make a complaint to them you have 1000 characters available, which are spaces and punctuation marks. If you want to have a discussion with customer service you will not succeed. First of all, they don't answer the phones, secondly, they don't have specific staff for such a thing. At this moment, the only thing I can do is to turn to the Ombudsman and BVRLA.

Save your $$$$ go directly through actual car rental company

Do not recommend at all. Upon arrival to Payless Car Rental I was informed there was no car for me and they do not honor 3rd party reservation. Rentalcars.com refused to refund me because I didn't call from rental company. I emailed them once back on the ship. I had extremely limited telephone use in Mexico so I could not reach anyone. Save your money and don't use this company

Should have read the reviews before…

Should have read the reviews before booking three cars through rentalcars.com

When arriving at Split airport Keddy/Europcar refused to give us one of our cars. They argued that the third driver's payment card was not a credit card which it 100% is. So Europcar straight up cancelled our car on the spot. So we were left with two cars for 12 people...

Rentalcars have refunded us for 1.500 out of 2.500 SEK. But i still think we should get a full refund, but rentalcars.com refuses. So now they have earned about 100 EUR without giving us anything.

Overall i am happy with the help i had gotten up until this issue. Got fast and good help during the booking of the cars.

Will not book through rentalcars.com again, neither Keddy/Europcar at Split airport.

Driver did not turn up

Driver did not turn up. They continually lie, saying that I turned up late, and they are refusing to refund me my money. This is effectively theft. I pad for a service and they did not deliver.

DO NOT USE RENTALCARS.COM

I purchased additional insurance from…

I purchased additional insurance from Rentalcars.com to cover the high excess deposit required by the car rental company and for comprehensive coverage. However, I was informed at the car rental office that I needed to pay for additional insurance from the car hiring company in order to take the car. If I had known this beforehand, I would not have opted for the Rentalcars.com insurance to avoid the high deposit or the need for additional cover. The rental company indicated that the third-party insurance policy was not useful and could only be used for claims and subsequent refunds. As a result, I have paid for insurance twice - once with Rentalcars.com and once with the car hiring company. the additional insurance cover would not eliminate the excess deposit as initially promised when I purchased the insurance.

Absolute scammers

Absolute scammers. I paid the full fee on their website then arriving at Greenmotion's very busy office in Stansted Airport was told I had to pay another £67+ if I wanted the car. As i needed to hurry I thought I could resolve the case later with the clear paperwork. A Rentalcars operative however told me that it was nothing to do with them. I shouldn't have paid, so tough. What's written in the contracts apparently counts for nothing.

Gives off a scammy vibe

Gives off a scammy vibe, poor system and could not get collect my car at the airport due to companies system refusing my Credic card. Went to the Alamo counter next door and got a car with the same card. Rentalcars.com could only start refund talks after rental period is over which is silly. Than they want proof of me contacting them by phone which is not possible when you just land in another country. I contacted them immediately on their chat system but it doesnt work on the phone well kept disconnecting so contacted them 2 hours later on my computer. Dint get a refund and wont book from them again. Rather use carjet in my opinion.

Avoid if you can

Avoid if you can! Rentalcars.com is the worst of the worst in professional & ethical terms. Plenty of small clauses in the 3rd party (Rentalcars.com ) rental contracts resulting in really awkward Deposit Payment at the Car Rental Desk. Really, avoid if you can, better rent directly from the car rental company

Rentalcars / Surprice London Heathrow

Rentalcars / Surprice London Heathrow - don't bother purchasing any insurance from Rentalcars as companies such as Surprice, Heathrow simply won't recognise it. At the point of collection they will force you to pay for another insurance policy before releasing your vehicle.
Not worth complaining to either company as it is simply a rip off & they don't care - simply avoid both Rentalcars and Surprice UK

Consider complaining in writing to:

UK Office of Fair Trading
British Vehicle Rental Leasing Association
European Car Rental Conciliation Service
London Police – make a report.
