The service people are very rude, and dont care about customer service.
Also took their sweet time (took 1 hour to pick up the car, and 45 min. to drop it off).

To my surprise I was charged 8 MONTHS later 35eur for a supposidly traffic vioaltion that I drove into a restricted zone without authorisation, somewhere in Palermo.
However, I only drove with google maps guidance and just stayed for 1 night in palermo, so pretty much just in and out - no restricted areas.

Reading other reviews here it seems to me that it is a police scam together with rental plus and potentially other services.

AVOID at all cost!

The police agency sends RentalPlus the fine receipt report after the rental period in question. I was in Bari airport and I was struggling to get a good price on a rental car till I walked in to rental plus car and I have received the best service for Mara( excellent help) and a very competitive price, great work highly recommend.

Professional Service at the Airport Bari

Alessia, Alessia, Alessia… if all of their employees are as wonderful as this young lady, it is one of the best companies that I’ve ever used. Alessia was super helpful. The car was brand new wonderful and clean. I would highly recommend this company.

Worst way to start a holiday

Booked a car from Pisa. Was told the car is in showroom condition at the desk. As soon as we got to the car it was not washed, had innumerable scuffs and dents. Even worse, the right front tyre was BROKEN. Went back to the desk, and we were told by the lady at the desk that there were no other cars available, at 4pm, with people queuing for cars outside. We were then made to wait for hours until they prepared and washed another car after a different representative found us a different car that was available. Torrid experience, terrible customer care.

Refused to provide pre booked hire car

Very rude customer service, lady refused to hire us a pre-booked car through Auto Europe stating that old style UK paper drivers license was not valid. UK government website and Auto Europe confirms paper licenses are valid, whole thing was very stressful. She refused to give us her name or written confirmation of why they wouldn’t hire the car. Leaving us with an admin charge of £60 and no alternative but to get a hire car elsewhere which we paid over the odds for (but were very happy with).

Furthermore the company was located the furthest distance from the airport, with no signage present.

We have used this driving license for the past 30 years in Italy with no complaints.

This car rental company was without…

This car rental company was without question the best we have ever used. They were efficient at the desk when arriving and super efficient when running the car, looking out for our return. The staff were polite and respectful at all times. I would highly recommend!

Admin charge???

Rented a car in September 2023 and am now receiving an invoice for an admin charge of 35Euros. I presume I’ll be told it’s for a fine but I’ve not received any fine so have no idea if RentalPlus have paid this on my behalf? In any case the communication is very poor - I’d need to know when and where I am supposed to have incurred a fine before I pay any charge as from other reviews it seems a bit of a scam !

Wrong experience in Bari…(Part I & II)

The day after the car return in Bari Airport, RentalPlus sent me an invoice for a damaged door cylinder (lock) that I could not saw as the key was opening/closing the doors remotely correctly. Indeed Rental Plus did not see and say anything when returning the car and they come back to you the day after when you cannot check anymore, Today, they charged me 611 € for such unproven damage, keeping the deposit. It means that the standard insurance is only covering people in the car on other cars. Low price you pay for rental is false. The true price must be increased by 23 € per day if you want to rent in peace. Make the calculations when comparing prices otherwise…

Below is Part II, 24H after Part I and the “political answer” from RentalPlus :

Dear RentalPlus Community Manager,
Your efforts to defuse my comment are understandable. In a sense, not answering it would have been a way of proving myself right. Following your recommendations I therefore used the email address indicated in your answer to continue monitoring the file. I have no response since last night.

Therefore, I am continuing my comment here in TrustPilot to add a detail which is not negligible and to warn other Internet users of the methods RentalPlus uses (and judging from many other customers, I am not the first - nor without doubt the last). The bill to pay for changing the damaged door cylinder amounts to €611, already partially charged on my account. For information, the amount founded on the internet for a door cylinder for a FIAT Panda (the car I had) is €25 to €30 (for two since there are two doors). How long does it take and at what hourly rate to reach a total of €600+ for such repair? One hour of workshop labor at Ferrari rates perhaps? And for sure it doesn’t take half a day to do… In a word, this too is UNACCEPTABLE! Regards.

Unfortunately our operator had to proceed to the autonomous control and was found a damage to the cylinder that was not present during the withdrawal of the car. Hired a car in September 2023 no issues - I now have a charge from the company for 70 Euro with no communication or explanation what this is for. I have had issues in Italy before with charges for made up traffic offences months after the trip ended. Wont be using again

I recently had a disappointing…Caution Advised: Questionable Damage Claims and Poor Service at RentalPlus

I recently had a disappointing experience with RentalPlus, which involved renting two vehicles, one through DiscoverCars and the other directly from the RentalPlus website. The latter rental included insurance. Both rental experiences ended with issues related to damage claims, which I believe were pre-existing and mishandled by the company.

Upon returning the cars, RentalPlus agents claimed there were damages that weren't documented in the initial contract. Initially, when picking up the vehicles, the agents had mentioned that any minor damages were covered and noted in the contract. However, this statement was contradicted upon return by different agents who denied that the damages were included, leading to a frustrating discrepancy in their service.

For the car rented with insurance, the agents decided to transfer the responsibility for the alleged new damage to my insurance company, despite the fact that I provided photographic evidence proving that the damages were pre-existing. This seems to reflect a practice of avoiding responsibility and possibly exploiting insurance for repairs.

The situation with the second car, which was not covered by additional insurance, was even more aggravating. RentalPlus charged me 280 euros for a minuscule scratch on the front bumper, which seemed to have been caused by a pebble and should realistically be considered normal wear and tear. This charge felt exorbitant and unjustified, indicating a potential pattern of exploiting customers financially for minor or pre-existing damages.

Based on this experience, it appears that RentalPlus may be engaging in a practice of repeatedly charging multiple customers for the same damages and using the insurance system to cover costs that should not fall to customers. This experience has left me with a very negative impression of RentalPlus, and I strongly advise against using their services. The inconsistency in damage documentation and the lack of acceptance of clear evidence make them unreliable and untrustworthy as a rental provider.

When, for logistical reasons, we are unable to do so, we always encourage the customer to check the car and send us proof of discrepancies between the signed report and what was actually agreed upon, so that we can make an accurate and timely update of the car's status
It is the customer's responsibility once he has taken the keys to check the car and send us any discrepancies noticed as soon as possible. By accepting the signed outgoing contract, all conditions are accepted. We are anyway investigating the case with our commecial team, and our customer service will answer you by mail.

The car I booked wasn't available at…

The car I booked wasn't available at Bari Airport, the alternative offered wasn't similar (larger). I booked on size as I was visiting many small mountain villages. Not everyone books on price! In hindsight I should have refused the alternative and gone to a different provider but my time was limited. Instructions to get to the parking lot and where to return the car were inadequate. "Just follow the signs" only works when there are sufficient large ones; these were small and few. Would be interesting to try and find the parking lot in the dark!

We had to fon to find Pickup, No Information before.
We had to wait with 2 people from Brazil for 1 1/2 hours to be picked Up!

Poor communication

A speeding fine was received while I was using this company on holiday nearly a year ago. I have only just received information that there is a fine against my name (as the lead driver) in the last month or so, but no way of viewing any evidence or paying the fine. I have emailed multiple times requesting this information and the agent dealing with my case is no longer responding, however, they have responded to other people who are not listed as the lead driver on the rental.

Rent compact car Bergamo Airport. Friendly staff give me brand new Opel Mokka for one week.
No problems at all.
Paid deposit €500 and was unblock 2 days after returning car.
