I filled out an online form to enquire about a quote for getting rid of wasps. I received a telephone call from Kelly whom works for Rentokil, she explained that I would need to pay straight away for someone to come out, to inspect the area where the wasps were , as i was in a panic due to having a dog and not knowing if he was allergic to wasp stings, I was desperate for someone to come out and I've never had this problem before. Kelly told me I would have to pay £384.00 for someone to come out and spray the area. Yes I should of done some shopping around and got other quotes but I was desperate.
I paid straight away and it was booked for someone to come out the next day.
My husband spoke to a neighbour whom had the same problem and gave us a number for a local company and the price to do the exactly the same job as Rentokil £55.00.
I called Rentokil to cancel the service and the card payment was still pending.
I was told to reply to the email I had received to cancel the service and I would receive a refund.
I got an email the next day with a contract from Rentokil, no response to my email in regards to a refund and the payment was taken.
I work for a bank and know all rentokil had to do was cancel the card payment but they didn't, 6 days later I received a refund after constantly emailing them and one email told me they would investigate into my refund.
It isn't difficult to cancel a card payment.
If I hadn't kept pressing for my refund I wouldn't of got one.
I would never book rentokil ever for any type of service.

This company has frankly always been a crock of you-know-what (ever since their dry rot scams in the 1980s). Sadly they bought out our local pest control company and ever since then it's been chaos. As others have remarked, serious lack of communication, unanswered calls and emails and when we did manage to get through to our local "manager" he behaved as if he was the President of France and not a rat catcher. Arrogant and rude, he talked over my husband on the phone and got rattled because we complained that although our payment had been taken every quarter, they had visited only once since February this year. They say this is due to "scheduling problems". Oh, wait while I explain all this to the rodents who are making whoopee in our garage ... . They also took a year's payment out of our bank account despite the fact that we were paying quarterly. They also charged us "admin fees" every time they took a payment, which they are only meant to apply to new contracts. Getting blood out of a stone is easier than getting refunds from them. They force you into a contract which apparently gives only you obligations, not them. Nasty people: avoid at all costs. Rats are preferable, and have better interpersonal skills.
Terrible for small health business…
Rentokil for my small health business was a terrible choice. Communication was shocking with numerous mistakes made, rectified and then repeated. The time of chasing up someone to chat to, waiting for call backs, emails and having to leave my treatment room to meet people on arrival was detrimental and time I do not have. LOTS of trouble cancelling the contract, despite cancelling- a man kept returning, who I had to apologise they had not told him to cease service. Now I have debt collectors chasing me! The proof of paid invoices and contract end / our communication of this was very time consuming. I'll be sure to warn my industry next time our socials group reaches out asking for advice for the same service.

We've been trying to get a very simple issue resolved—replacing single toilet roll holders with double ones—for over two months now, and the experience has been frustrating from start to finish.
Despite repeated follow-ups and multiple assurances that the items were ordered and would be installed, we’ve seen no actual progress. Each update has come only after constant chasing, and even then, there's been a complete lack of accountability or urgency. We were most recently told the units would arrive by the end of the week—yet again, no follow-through.
What should have been a straightforward facilities request has turned into an ongoing issue, wasting our time and causing unnecessary frustration. At this point, it’s unclear whether they take their clients’ time or concerns seriously.
I would not recommend this company based on our experience. Poor communication, lack of follow-through, and no sense of urgency in resolving even the most basic service requests.

Frank from Rentokil in eastern Ontario is great, he is always on time, very thorough and the treatments for the wasps and flies are very effective. I have been on the automatic quarterly treatments for a while and it solved my issues
Worth every Penny
I cannot heap enough praise on Penny Harris (Senior Credit Controller at the Finance Share Service (Dudley)). Every bit of communication I have with her is a friendly and positive experience. Nothing is too much trouble and she always responds in a timely manner. She is an absolute credit to the company.

Do not use this company
Do not use this company, especially if you are a small business. Over the past few years we have been overcharged, the admin team are terrible at dealing with purchases or changes to contract.
You rarely get any continuity when dealing with any issues and often get passed from one person to another.
Their fees are very high if you do your homework and compare with other companies.
We have recently ceased our contract with them and have already saved £100's.
They definitely do not care about their customers!

The New 'Worst Company I've ever dealt with'.....even World Pay are better.
I am over a week and a half trying to change my weekly standing order of floor mats. There is nobody in this company who will take a call and take responsibility to help with such a ridiculously simple task.
I keep getting told about escalating my issue and promised a call back.
I don't say this lightly, but this is the worst company I have ever dealt with and that's saying something, considering I have dealt with worlpay.

Bedbugs
Bedbugs! Apparently whatever this company uses to kill bedbugs it doesn't work.
I live in a highrise building that was built in 1980. I moved into this building without warning from the landlord of the infestations. The unit looked clean but they were hiding. First it was the cockroache issue in my kitchen and bathroom. That seemed to be a simple fix for the company but a couple months, if that, I felt bugs while I was sleeping. Man they are quick too foe their size.
Long story short. After four or more fumigations or treatments to remove the bugs. It was decided my bed was too infested to keep. My vintage teak queen size bed, had to go. I was charged for the removal but not offered a bed in return. I know it wasn't me who brought the bugs to the building but it wasn't me. I'm sleeing on my mattress still and now I killed a few more bugs last night. This is BS product. But Rentokil is at this building on different floors weekly. For those of you considering to move to the Kenwick building in Sarnia ON, I'd advise against it.

Terrible Experience – Avoid at All Costs!
While the engineer was excellent, that’s where the positive experience ends. We received an invoice issued by post on the 19th of December, and just a few days later, Rentokil began chasing payment. As a business, we were closed from the 20th of December and reopened on the 6th of January, meaning we didn’t even see the invoice until the 6th.
Shockingly, this morning (only 25 days after the invoice was issued), we received a legal letter from them. This heavy-handed approach is appalling, especially as we were new clients. As a result, we’ve cancelled our ongoing contract. The way we’ve been treated is nothing short of disgraceful, and we will never work with Rentokil again.

Santa who covers Sutton Coldfield has just left us after her third visit. We were devastated 4 weeks ago to find that a rat had managed to chew through floorboards and skirting boards into our house and then eaten half our sofa! After a very thorough review of our house, Santa established activity in the loft and garden and set up a number of traps and poison stations, all with consideration of our dog. During every visit she has been really thorough and kept us well informed of progress, but what really sets her apart is how friendly she is and her passion for her job and resolving the situation, she is an absolute credit to Rentokil and they are lucky to have her. Whilst we know there will never be 100% guarantee of being rodent free,after the third visit we don’t have any sign of rats and the steps taken have worked well. Would highly recommend this service and if you are lucky enough to get Santa then it’s an additional bonus. Thankyou

£120 for just a quote?
Let me preface this by saying the actual gentleman who came out to the property was professional and cordial, seemed knowledgeable about the situation and apologetic when it came to pricing, in no way does this represent my experience with the actual worker who visited
As for the company however, at first they refuse to even pass details onto their workers to schedule an appointment until you have paid by reading your card details over the phone, not via a secure terminal, not via cash, which in this day and age just seems lazy at best and negligent at worst. Secondly, their "cooling off period" is immediately revoked if you wish someone to visit within the next 2 weeks (which if you are calling an extermination service, of course you can't wait) which is a predatory practice at best. After this, I was told there would be a £120 charge placed to receive a call out. I questioned this, and effectively you aren't paying for anything. They will send someone out who will hear what the problem is, write it down, get a pre generated price from the company's work app, and then create a report with a total price for any actions needed.
I understand that workers need call out fees, and that the company uses this fee to deduct it from its price for it's "treatment plans". However, £120 for someone to listen to me and give me a price is absurd! The gentleman even said it might be possible to receive some form of refund, which the company now tells me is not possible. I would love to be paid £120 for 5 minutes of work, no investigations done on the day, not even a basic trap placed (for £120 I'd hope there would be something at least)

AVOID RENTOKIL AT ALL COSTS
I had been using RENTOKIL for a few years at my personal home. I had a credit card on file and was always on AUTO PAY. One day out of the blue 0n 04/25/2023 I get an email from Karlie Stevens stating that my account is past due and I am being placed in collections for 2 payments (wait for it...) from 02/24/2022 - $78.00 and 08/19/2022 - $86.60. I asked WHY I was being billed for something from a year prior when I have always been on automatic payments and I was told it was due to a "glitch in the system" on their end. I questioned why I was in collections if they had a card to bill on file and the error was on their end. Not wanting to argue any longer I just paid it and cancelled service at my home.
Moving forward - I still used Rentokil for several rental properties. This is where it goes real bad. I had 2 properties, the first the tenant said that they were seeing little piles of dust/shavings that they thought were from termites. Called Rentokil and was told by tech that there were termites and we would have to remove a door frame and 3 interior walls for termite treatment. After removing all drywall we were told by the same tech that we DID NOT have termites. The room in question was an addition that was built on to the home. Apparently it was simply old saw dust that would sprinkle out at times when the door was shut too hard. No termites equals no termite service - SO WHY AM IN COLLECTIONS AGAIN for $700.00?
The second property is even worse. Again I scheduled Rentokil to go to a property due to mice in the crawl space/attic. Tech went out, stated they were going to seal all points of access FIRST, then start trapping and doe a clean up of dropping in the attic. Well just after we agreed to service the tech quit and went to another extermination company. The same exact tech gave me a service agreement under the new company for the same EXACT work that he was supposed to do when at Rentokil - why? BECAUSE IT WAS NEVER DONE. I have photos and videos from the work that was done under the new company, yet Rentokil is trying to bill me $1400 for a service they never performed. I've been round and round with their collections department including daily phone calls with a Rosemary Gotshall who can barely remember her own name, let alone the account number in dispute. The woman was more interested in me helping her find a property for she and her husband to relocate to than she was in helping me resolve my issue.
Rentokil sucks - period. Before you use their service I strongly suggest you do a GOOGLE SEARCH on RENTOKIL REVIEWS. Don't just take my word for it, see what others are saying and check the BBB as well.
It takes time to write a negative review and I hardly ever do it - ever, but for Rentokil i'll make an exception because now it is personal. Horrible, horrible company. If I can save 1 person from getting involved with this company it'll be worth it.
