Really helpful - lots of ideas I hadn't thought about, to help with damp

Matt was very knowledgeable and came up with lots of options whilst doing the home visit. He followed up with a very detailed report with a range of links to other data sources.

The representative from Retrofit West (Matt Williams) was very knowledgeable but was also very responsive to our particular interests, concerns and approach to the issue of improving our home's energy efficiency. It has given us a really good platform from which to plan our strategy without being pushed by a salesperson into directions we may not understand and/or need.

We're at the early stage of hopefully installing solar panels on a listed building and particularly appreciated getting advice and suggestions from an independent source as well as Retrofit's offer to comment on detailed installation proposals as these are received. Has made us feel more confident about the whole process.

Following an introductory talk on retrofitting your home at a local library I booked a free home visit from Retrofit West. This is an invaluable service, especially as it is driven by aims of reducing carbon footprints and saving enery rather than trying to sell you something. Matt, very knowledgeable and experienced, spent an hour at my home assessing the possibilities and discussing my needs. This was followed up by a detailed email report. I am at the beginning of the retrofit journey and the help and support that Retrofit West provide, and in particular the home visit, will make the difference for me between thinking of doing something, but not knowing what to do, and actually taking the first steps.

Matt was incredibly helpful. Honest, straightforward, full of useful knowledge which he was happy to impart, and followed up really quickly with written observations and tips. (I can hardly believe this is a free service!) I will definitely be following up on Matt's advice. Thank you, Matt and Retrofit West.

I booked a home visit with Matt and it did not disappoint - he listened to all my comments about the house, our renovation plans, and issues we'd encountered along the way. His retrofit advice was clear and easy to understand, and all very relevant to our approach and budget. He even followed it up with notes of what we'd discussed - Big thanks to Matt! Really glad we booked in with Retrofit West, the visit was free (!) and the booking system was incredibly easy too. Also felt so much easier to get tailored help from an advisor actually being in your home and being able to talk about problems/solutions in situ.

Matt helped us make sense of a very comprehensive report from a recent thermal imaging and air tightness assessment on our 1990's house. He took us through some quick and inexpensive insulation improvements, and gave us some sustainable energy options to think about for the future. Given we're not confident DIY people, we appreciated the time he took to walk us through how to install extra loft insulation around eaves / recessed light fittings, improve on window drafts, and some useful tips we wouldn't have previously considered, such as using loft insulation under kick boards in the kitchen and under the bath. Two days later he sent a fabulous summary of our discussion, offering a useful checklist of things to prioritise as 'quick wins'. We found Matt to be generous with his time, courteous and patient, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend his services. Thanks Matt.

Matt Williams of Retrofit West visited for an hour on April 9th 2025 and provided invaluable advice on energy saving in our grade 2 listed house.
The key messages were clear and well explained backed up by excellent technical knowledge and experience. The follow up email provided links to support to make future energy saving actions straightforward.

I applied for a discounted voucher to get a thermographic survey of my home with the CHEESE Project. The voucher came through very quickly and they clearly passed my details through to the surveyor as I received a phone call to arrange the survey a couple of hours after getting the voucher.

The voucher Retrofit West gave me came through very quickly and allowed me to get 70% off a bespoke air pressure and thermal imaging service from Severn Wye Energy Agency. This survey was very good with Dan explaining the process and highlighting where my property was a bit leaky. Dan’s report and air tightness certificate was sent through within a week of the survey. Looking forward to the retest in a few months to see how much I can improve the property.

retrofit west have been great at keeping me informed about various home improvements I can undertake for better energy efficiency, as well as on what grants etc may be available. I would definitely recommend signing up.
