It's been an amazing couple of years that we've had our allotment patch with Roots at Meadow Hill. Before we thought we couldn't grow anything, and now we happily harvest and eat our own delicio... See more

Sugar loaf lane Roots allotments
We got our plot on the 24th August and we are loving it. Dave showed us around and was very welcoming and full of knowledge with lots of hints and tips. Dave is very friendly and always happy to help. We have been busy starting our new plot. Thank you Dave and Roots allotments.

Am new to Roots Sugarloaf Fields and am absolutely loving the great set-up and community space. Dave Cox (Site Manager) has been so helpful, especially when I was struggling to set up my brassica cage. Love it!
I've absolutely adored my time at Roots
I've absolutely adored my time at the Bristol site, it's a great community with lots of like minded people looking for a way to get into nature and grow their own food rather than rely on supermarkets.
The team behind Roots have been fantastic at every opportunity!
Yes it's more expensive than a council allotment but it's worth every penny!
Wildlife vandals ripping off would be growers
Group of posh boys with no respect for nature. Very limited understanding of horticulture which is evident from the rows of wilting, compost scorched plants at the Abbots Leigh site. The set up isn't fit for purpose. Skylarks displaced by the development. At least two deer and a hedgehog have died as a result of the inadequate wire fencing installed on the site. Entire site has been constructed without appropriate planning permission and the founders continue to wilfully ignore NS Council. Good luck to the people who are paying through the nose to rent a patch of 3 inch deep compost from these unscrupulous money grabbers.
My favourite day of the week🌻
The allotments are full of lovely people, an abundance of veg and good vibes! I have found my times at the allotments to be so amazing for the body and mind.
I’m looking forward to watch the community grow and flourish over time. Thank you for being able to provide us with the opportunity to get our hands dirty without waiting 5 or more years on a waiting list!🌱

Just love my Roots allotment and the whole roots team. Their commitment to caring for the environment is clear. Everyone is so helpful and friendly. They are super-responsive and provide great service at good price. The ethos of inclusivity, learning and community is ever present and make it a joy to be part of the Roots growing community.
My no 1 happy place!
Everyone that works here is charming and helpful and the whole set-up works really well. It has a great ethos and I have met many lovely people and picked up so many useful veg growing tips. I love going there to tend to my plot. It’s open and peaceful with lovely views - my current no 1 happy place!

It sounds like mistakes have been made at the Abbots Leigh site.
That said, my experience with Roots at Providence Pastures in Leeds has been great so far. The site is being really well kept. Any issues are resolved quickly. Kate, our site manager, gave a great intro sesh and is helpful and friendly. The WhatsApp group is great and I'm looking forward to meeting some members at the plots soon.
I've got no growing experience and Roots have empowered to give it a go. We're 2 or 3 months in now, a couple of bits have failed to grow but everything else is growing much better than I expected. I'm loving the learning curve.
Good vibes only!
I am over the moon!
I love my allotment so much! It's wonderful to be able to be in such a lovely green space. The allotments are in a beautiful setting and all of the eco projects that surround the allotments like the orchard and the meadow really add to the whole atmosphere. It's so wonderful to grow fruit and veg in soil that I know is free from chemicals and the whole team are always so present and helpful.

Leigh Woods Bristol is an incredible…
Leigh Woods Bristol is an incredible site with a friendly growing community and everything you need to grow your own food or plant up flowers for those medicinal homemade concoctions! With all the tools you need for gardening on site and unlimited compost, plus 30+ seed packets AND plug plants included in the monthly cost of the allotment, it’s cheaper and more convenient than a council run allotment with everything that’s included, and you can plant what you want! This place sits very much at the centre of my heart for health, well-being and happiness
Thank you for continuing to protect our right to grow our own Roots! 🥬😊
LOVE ROOTS
Absolutely amazing! Roots Allotments has truly transformed my gardening experience. Having my own patch to grow organic veggies is incredibly rewarding and therapeutic. The regular supply of seeds every couple of months ensures a continuous harvest and variety, keeping things exciting.
The amenities provided are top-notch. Free water on site and access to tools make the whole process seamless. The workshops are a fantastic way to learn new skills and connect with fellow gardening enthusiasts. Plus, the opportunity to put on your own workshops is a great way to share knowledge and build a sense of community.
The online web courses are another highlight, offering convenience and valuable insights that have significantly enhanced my gardening skills. All of this comes at great value for money, making Roots Allotments an exceptional place for anyone looking to dive into organic gardening and become part of a vibrant, supportive community.
An absolutely massive benefit is seeing my child learn new skills and understand where food comes from. Living in the city, this kind of experience is unheard of. We feel so lucky to be part of this amazing initiative. Highly recommended!

The views are beautiful, the people wonderful, and the courses and classes are excellent, with free seeds included in the subscription. As an autistic individual with family members on the spectrum, finding such a supportive and understanding community has been invaluable.
