Challenging job.....well done…

The whole process from start to finish was smooth, professional and effective. From purchase, surveying to installation, the S&S teams were always helpful and professional. We had some logistical challenges to overcome in getting this job done, but Tom and his teams of fitters calmly navigated it all. Shout out too to fitter Danny who did the final part of the job in -2degrees without a grumble! Solid crew!

Shoddy gutter installation

We have had windows, gutters and facia done with this company. I have no qualms with the windows, they are of a high quality, the sales rep Will was lovely and the window fitters did a good job. The gutters and fascia however have been an extreme disappointment. We paid over £1600 for these doing which included a quote for 16m of downpipe. No such downpipe was installed, which in retrospect couldn't have been done on the front of the house anyway as there would be nowhere for it to go, so I'm unsure why this was included in the quote. I have had nothing but issues with the back gutters. Two weeks after they were installed I noticed water was leaking over the end cap so I got in touch worried there was an issue. They sent out an engineer who claimed next doors gutters were blocked and that was causing water to gather on my side. I took them at their word at the time. Shortly after I had the gutters cleaned and the individual who did this told me that the gutters weren't level, which was causing the water to gather around the end cap and spill over. As a result I got an independent builder out to have a look and they've told me that none of the gutter is level so water isn't even having the opportunity to drain into next doors down pipe. If they had installed downpipe as they should've to lead into my own drain this wouldn't have been an issue. Since all of this happened I have tried to get in touch on around 5 occasions. Only once has my phone call actually been taken, where they promised they would be in touch the following week to see what they could do. No one ever got in touch. I have since rang periodically and every time I'm left to go to voicemail. They have, however, managed to ring me with offers for my last two windows to be done and asked if I want my gutters redoing before the finance has even ran out for the first set that were installed incorrectly. I'm now having to pay someone to fix the issues because they won't take responsibility for it. I had high hopes after the quality of the windows, so much so I even recommended them to a family member who used their services. She was not so lucky with her window installation, she had to get in touch and get someone to come back out to tidy up the mess left by the first team who clearly took no pride in their work. Thankfully her issues were resolved. I, however, still haven't heard a peep from them - despite the many voicemails left.

Company came to do our gutters and…

Company came to do our gutters and facias, everything went well until after they left. Neighbour came around and told us that his corner piece had fallen off due to our gutters not being properly connected. The gutter part was also too short leading to leaking onto our roof. I was surprised because I had paid good money for this and was promised by the sales rep that their work was better than so called "independent" builders who would do a half assed job. When calling the company back they said they would fix it ASAP and did send a guy round to look at it but he said his ladder wasn't long enough and couldn't reach it. Then no contact from the company. Husband called again and was told it had been fixed already but no one had come. Still waiting for it to be fixed.

INTIMIDATION TACTICS - DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY

Main points:

Tried to intimidate me and my partner into putting down a deposit and making a deal without even showing us an example of product/colour swatches.

Talked about all the jobs in the area which just so happened to be older women living alone, which I'm not surprised about with the intimidation tactics.

Got visibly angry and rude, which led to me telling them to leave our home.

Claimed my review was false, which I'm currently disputing with trust pilot. I've now responded to the trustpilot email showing the leaflet, and also a phone call where they tried convincing me to takedown my review.

Had our free quote, which was supposed to last for 12 months, which was perfect as I made it perfectly clear it would be up to a year before we went ahead with the work.
All was well up until "Steve" measured our windows and sat down to talk about prices. The price was originally £15,000 which then we got offered 25% discount which brought it down to £11,250. Due to the price being so high, we asked about financing, which led to him ringing someone who offered us another one-time offer of just under £9000. At this point, it all felt very off as the whole thing seemed scripted, with him ringing this person, and all of a sudden, the price had dropped over £6000.

We were actually very happy with the finance offer even though it seemed very scripted, but we essentially said can we give you our details to get back in touch with us in the next couple of days, to give us time to talk things over as obviously we weren't planning on going ahead with these renovations so quickly but we could comfortably afford the finance option.

This is where things went downhill. Steve cut me off and said NO and was visibly angry. He proceeded to say if we don't put a deposit down on the night, we lose the 9k offer, and it would automatically go back to 11k. I made it perfectly clear I wanted to talk to my partner alone over night, which led to him saying if we don't do this right now we won't have windows changed within a year etc and essentially berated us into giving him £100. Bearing in mind at this point he's not even shown us an example product or colour swatches etc. At this point, I got up, opened the door, and told him to leave. He was making us feel completely uneasy in our own home. We are young first-time buyers and left my partner unable to sleep all night as she felt unsafe in our own home.

Conservatory light tiled roof

We had our conservatory roof replaced with a tiled roof. Right from the start Safe and Sound Windows kept us informed of what was going to happen and when. The roof fitters were on time both days and true to their word they had the roof water tight at the end of the first day. The three men, I wish I could remember their names, were working all the time they were here (even during drinks). We were satisfied with the quality of the materials too.
On the third day the plasterer arrived and fitted the boards and completed the plastering. Suffice to say I wish the rest of my house was of this quality plastering.
On the fifth day the electrician arrived and did a very professional job with the spotlights.
Finally all the team fulfilled my requests with no quibbles.

Incessant Nuisance Calls

Although I haven't used their services, I have recently started receiving incessant, nuisance phone calls from this company. I have no idea how they have my name & number - they claim I spoke to them 6 months ago but this can't be possible as I was living in rented accommodation during this time and for a number of years prior so I would never have had a reason to enquire about new windows!

I received 4 phone calls within 1.5hours. The next day I answered their second call to tell them I wasn't interested. Since then I am still receiving multiple calls a day - literally one immediately after the other. I have now blocked the number and will certainly never use their services.

Exceptionally Poor Standards of Business

Exceptionally poor aftersales despite me repeatedly calling / emailing them. Had our guttering facias and soffits replaced 06/09/23. Unfortunately whilst doing the work they broke a neighbours window.
This window is still broken and there has been no further contact. Add to this we now have an end cap hanging off the gable end.

Mums windows

Mum just had her windows done, and from start to finish they have been great. The sales man was friendly and informative, the fitters, think they were both called Danny, were excellent with my mum. My mum lives on her own and is disabled, so when they called round and she booked straight away i was a bit concerned. I had no need to be worried has they have been most respectful and professional. Would recommend, and will be having a quote for my own windows.
