I reached out to 7 mortgage companies during my recent financing of a home purchase. Sage gave me the best service, and they didn't play games like trying to cross-sell me other products or attempting pressure sales tactics. Instead of silly games, they gave me the best interest rate and closing costs of any of their competitors. Their online systems for collecting documents are great and make things easier, but they don't use them as a crutch to skimp people contact or service. Mike Sluja was also great, and so was Stacy Kingsberry.
The only "fly in the soup" is that they will very likely sell my loan on to another servicer. I knew that going into it though, because they were very transparent.

Bryan was absolutely wonderful the entire process from beginning to end. The team who did the closing was awful and made an already stressful process 10x worse. The day before closing and closing was a mess. I was notified that the cash to close was increasing by $2,000 the day before closing because they had miscalculated the sellers cash back at 6:30 pm AFTER they had already sent the final documents to the lawyer and I had done the wire transfer. So it cost me another $30 to do the second transfer, which now wasn’t there when we closed because the bank was closed when I sent the second transfer. The closing team reached out to me At 6 pm asking for our paystubs, why wasn’t that does earlier? We didn’t have access to them so we had to get the from work on the morning of closing. We finally got the updated final closing papers around 8 pm. 6:15 closing morning, I wake up to an email saying please disregard the previous closing documents they are adjusting them. WE CLOSE IN 2.5 HOURS. We did not get the final documents until 8:05 am, we closed at 9am. 55 minutes to review the largest purchase we have ever made. We finally get to closing, the money to fund the loan wasn’t at the law office yet so she said we’d check back after signing. We signed and reviewed everything, one we finished, the lawyer scanned everything and sent it in to Sage. She came back finally and said Sage didn’t send the correct amount. So she went in to call them, she came back and said that Sage told her the closing disclosure did not match!!! We had to sit there an additional half hour while we waited for the lawyer and Sage home loans to sort out if what we just signed needed to be resigned. It was SO embarrassing to sit there with the sellers while this happened. They finally came back and said we were all set and one again nothing changed!! What was the point in all of that?! The day after the loan was funded and we closed I got an email about a credit card and had them asking for my w2 from 2023. This was honestly the worst experience. I recommend Bryan, he was wonderful. Safe home loans though, I do not.

Alex and Candi were prepared every step of the way. Communication and responsiveness were excellent. They truly made the process as easy as possible.

Everything was great, but for the delayed disbursement of funds. Our loan officer was terrific, the closing attorney very prompt and helpful. The closing service excellent at scheduling, but sending the funding wire should be a morning priority. Because it was sent late in the day on a Friday, our building materials could not be ordered until Mondaycreating a work delay.

Eric and Tracy walked me through the entire process of securing our new home as quickly as possible. I look forward to working with Sage Home Loans in the future.

I had a fantastic experience with Sage Home Loans. I reached out on a weekend and was pleasantly surprised when Halli responded right away. She was incredibly easy to work with, and always responsive, clear in her communication, and truly took ownership of my loan process from start to finish. Thanks to her dedication, we were able to close early. I really appreciated how smooth and stress-free everything was. Highly recommend working with Halli and the Sage team!

Initial estimate indicated break even period of 3 months. Final costs made this closer to 15 months. This is a huge delta and did not feel like I got the deal I was promised, as daily interest on the payoff was not considered. Initial call was incredibly informative and helpful, but after that communication was not great, and I had to follow up on several items and information I didn’t receive. I was told I could back out of the deal at any time, but that’s not really the case as the appraisal costs were not refundable.

Laurie was great help! She seems genuinely helpful. Very good in communication and answered all my questions patiently.

Our experience with Sage Home Loans was frustrating and stressful, largely due to the poor communication and lack of follow-through from our loan officer, Jessica.
The problems began with an initial Loan Estimate that listed negative prepaid interest—an obvious red flag. When I asked Jessica about it, she told me it was a “lender credit,” which made no sense. Sure enough, the next version of the estimate corrected the interest to a positive number, which increased our closing costs by over $3,000. Despite telling her the low closing costs were why we signed with Sage, Jessica’s only comment was, “Interest should never be negative”—which was exactly why I asked her about it in the first place. There was no acknowledgement of the earlier misinformation or any real effort to explain the change.
Throughout the process, Jessica frequently told us she would follow up but rarely did. We were cleared to close 16 days before our scheduled closing date, yet we didn’t receive our final Closing Disclosure until 4 PM the day before closing. Every day, Jessica told us we’d receive it “later today,” and then nothing—no follow-up, no updates.
We were also given conflicting information about which documents to sign and which to hold off on. At one point, we were told there would be no impact if we chose to pay our property taxes directly and waive escrows. But when the updated documents arrived, $1,500 in lender credits had been removed. When we asked why, we were told it was because we waived escrows—contradicting what we’d been told earlier.
When our realtor called Jessica directly to try to sort things out, Jessica later claimed she hadn’t heard from her because “she hasn’t emailed me.” Technically true—but misleading, since they had a phone call and spoke at length. This kind of selective communication only added to the confusion.
Overall, we found the experience disorganized and unnecessarily stressful. If clear communication, accuracy, and timely updates are important to you (as they should be when making one of the biggest financial decisions of your life), I’d recommend looking elsewhere.

My home buying experience was seamless because of Alex and Candi. They were clear and transparent with their communications. Great people to work with. Thank you so much!

Best rates I could find and willing to negotiate rates and fees when directly compared to other companies. There were some bumps along the road with the loan originator, but the loan officer (Ilan Friedman) was phenomenal and helped drive the process along - even though it was beyond his job scope. Couldn't recommend him more highly.

I had a wonderful experience working with your team. Josh was particularly impressive with his prompt responses, and the entire team contributed to making the process enjoyable. I would definitely recommend your services to others. One suggestion for improvement would be to consider integrating the two portals into a single platform, as that could enhance the user experience. Thank you!

My loan officer, Reginald Bratton, made the process so smooth an easy. This is the third home I've purchased, and this process with Sage and Reginald was, by far, the most stress-free. The rest of the Sage team was also wonderful. I will absolutely seek out Sage (and Reginald!) again if I need to refinance or make a new purchase in future!

Stephen Perrigo and Aubrey Reason were great! They were able to answer all of my questions and were in constant communication regarding updates. The process was easy and went extremely well. I hope I made their lives as easy as they made mine.

Our closing disclosure was not received on time. Our closing date was established as on the 18th and we were given the disclosure a day late. We were scheduled to move into our home after a Friday closing date with movers scheduled for Saturday and Sunday. Instead, we wound up having to delay everything including our movers. It was an extremely frustrating experience.

Beth Has been so helpful through out the Process. Lightening speed and closing done in less than 17 Calendar Days.
Tara was my Load officer and she silently completed all the tasks like a Roket.
I highly Recommend SAGE.

The team was amazing at the start very fast and helpful, however as I approached my closing date, my assigned agent became unresponsive and dry, didn’t reply to any of my questions and made my process stressful. My processor Tammy was the only one who was helpful. Three weeks after closing, they sold my loan to a new company! Now I have to figure out how to make my loan payments to a company that I didn't even choose.

Beth has been instrumental, she said 22 calendar days but Closing completed within 18 calendar days. I was apprised on each steps. Tara was my loan officer and lightening fast. I would highly recommend Sage.
I don't think anyone can beat their interest rates.

The Sage team were great. Sunny was proactive and responsive, ensuring that we moved through the process as smoothly as possible.
