Not as good as previous SC

Big fans of SC but felt this experience was not as good or as worth the money as previous adventures.
While the pre amble exploring was fun and the set build expensive looking it felt like they then made the acitivties cheap and a little boring.
The seats for the film are wildly uncomfortable and crammed in and this is the first SC we've seen without live action during the film which is one of the best parts. Really hope it returns to future events. We went to SC in the summer and there was way more fun stuff to do and it felt more immersive with character interaction better throughout.

Secret Cinema has sold out, leaving fans feeling short-changed

I love Secret Cinema. GOTG was my fifth event and I bought a ticket despite not liking Marvel films - that's how much confidence I had in the team bringing about another unforgettable experience.

But, it was just...poor. Tickets have gone way up in value and the quality has gone down. Where's the actors acting out the film at the end? Where's the secret side rooms and the abundance of characters to give you useful tips, tricks, and easter eggs. At previous events it seemed that EVERYONE working there was part of the show - but the bartenders, security guards, sign holders just looked bored (and some of them were even pissed off when you tried to engage them in conversation about the mission like you could do in previous worlds).

Apparently if you want a real storyline/mission like with previous worlds you now need to pay for premium tickets. And the actors will just prioritise them over the standard ticket holders (I did wonder why the stickers identifying premium ticket holders were so large). But it all makes sense now - Starlord was talking to us and then ignored us when some priority ticket holders came over. What the hell??

Even the space felt smaller, and you were just walking around aimlessly trying to find something to do that wasn't just to get a few more units. There was no purpose? Also I'm not convinced that the units were even counted - it looked like the points screen (and final winners) fluctuated at random. It was all so fake.

With SC now working with Netflix and Disney, and the state of the GOTG world it's obvious that it's all just about the £££ now. Unless they bring back something really cult and nerdy like the olden days, I doubt I'll be going again.

Not so secret cinema anymore - for the hype, it felt average!

As a secret cinema fan, this event just felt underwhelming. It had been wayyy too hyped up by social media, TV (shown on programmes such as this morning), billboards and the internet. Yet it just fell short of being spectacular. I was expecting SO MUCH MORE. It needed to be bigger / grander especially for the ticket price.
We still had fun and the clans were a great idea of feeling part of the story. The food and drink prices I actually didn’t think were too bad considering inflation.
But overall, it just felt like a good day, as opposed to previous events where I’ve been blown away / had goosebumps / been shocked / amazed etc.
Would love to see the future events NOT ADVERTISED so much on social media as it ruins the event!! It feels like it’s not so secret cinema now.

One For the Bucket List!

From the first step on to the set I felt I was on another planet. I loved the snowfall that welcomed us to the set. It was difficult to hear our captains speech and it was a bit rushed. Maybe a sheet with the details of the different traders would have been helpful but it wasn't a big deal as we quickly found our way round. We made lots of trades and I loved the interaction with the traders especially the animated Rocket which was spookily good. The actors were incredible and very believable. Dance and fight routines extremely professional . I am over 70 and was concerned I would feel a bit awkward but I LOVED everything and felt part of the performance from the first step on to the set. One for the bucket list!

GOTG is amazing!!!

GOTG is amazing! The set is fab and the actors are wonderful. So much going on and lots of opportunities to get involved - loved all of it. We were premium ticket holders which I found to be well worth the extra cost. I cannot understand the negative reviews at all - this is a great and unique way to spend an afternoon/evening and I thoroughly recommend it.

GoTG was huge fun (thank goodness)

I've just come back from a matinee GoTG (kids and adults). It was excellent and I am SO relieved - I was extremely anxious it was going to be rubbish after reading some of the previous reviews. My experience (and my kids) was that it is possible to enjoy this just as much as 'normal SC'.
My advice is to keep moving, talk to everyone, simply abandon quests if you find yourself waiting more than 4 mins for something and start a new ones with whoever you find yourself stood next to, because that's why they are there. There were fetch quests, coded quests, distract someone while we kidnap them quests and yeah, dance offs..My experience was that you don't need to be extrovert (thankfully), you just need to be able to say 'hello, please give me something cool to do' to a stranger in a wig every 10 minutes, until the final set piece. We were probably lucky - we happened to ask the right characters questions at critical moments twice, getting my kid a couple of cool surprises/accesses (don't want to ruin any surprises), but even without that we'd still have a had a great time.
Whether you enjoy the movie is very much down to how much you like GoTG2. The light show is very good but by 20 mins in, you do miss the live stunts and they need to bring them back.
On a separate note, one of my kids needs special support and the Accessibility Team (I think Laura?? in particular, I'm so sorry if that was not your name) were really very prepared, thoughtful and gave us exactly the comfort blanket to go out and enjoy the event knowing there was support around if we needed it. As I said, some of the reviews here scared me, and while I wish they'd had a better time, I needn't have worried.

Absolutely MARVELous

Love Secret Cinema, and this was up to their usual standard. Lots of interactions with the cast, great atmosphere and lots to do. Light show to accompany the film really added to the atmosphere. Really great night out, highly recommended.

Fabulous Fabulosa!!!

These events are always spectacular and TGOTG didn’t disappoint. I loved engaging with the actors and finding our different missions. The lady that played Fabulosa was brilliant and so much fun. The seats were a bit uncomfy with not much leg room so hopefully they’ll do something about that. Overall another great event!!

Review for Guardians of the Galaxy

This review is for the Guardians of the Galaxy event. We paid for premium tickets and had to upgrade as we hasn’t realised that the film wasn’t included!! It’s Secret CINEMA - why would anyone book to go and not choose to see the film??!! I noticed that all bookings from November onwards now automatically include the film so I really feel we should be offered some money back. It’s the worst SS I’ve been to and I’ve done a few. We reported to our team captain and we’re then completely left to our own devices. Nothing to find and interact with that we could see and a really tiny space. The film itself wasn’t interactive at all - no actors involved. So disappointing. Don’t bother going.

Amazing!

We are just back from a 5 day break in London and this was by far the best thing we went to. We took our 12 year old daughter and she absolutely loved it. The girl in charge of the dark star team was amazing and really made us feel involved. We will definitely attend other ones in the future. You have to go with the attitude of joining in and be up for a good night. If you want to go to just spectate it might not be for you.

Absolutely insulting

Absolutely insulting. I'm a huge Guardians of the Galaxy / Marvel fan - and have been to a few Secret Cinema experiences before, so jumped at the chance to go to this (despite how ridiculously expensive the tickets were!)

The experience itself was... 'meh'. Everything was overpriced and overcrowded. There was no point in me bringing anything to trade, as there was zero organisation / storyline to follow - and you couldn't get close to any of the actors or action because there were too many people trying to do the same.

When you're cashing out that much money during a financial crisis, you kind of expect a bit more ESPECIALLY when you see the ticket prices slashed once the initial demand went down. Now they're offering as low as £15 on Today Tix? Are you kidding me?

Disappointed is an understatement. I've followed Secret Cinema for a long time and have witnessed the experiences get more and more about the money / opportunities for Instagram than about building a unique world for fans etc.

I've never sent anything like this before but it needs to be said. I feel incredibly ripped off.

Awful crowd and staff were non responsive

If I could give no stars I would. I want to see Dirty Dancing and certain people in the audience were talking all the way through the film. People were very drunk and blocking my view. When we asked one group to be quiet we can’t abuse. We were sitting behind three members of staff that didn’t do anything.

Amazing experience - can’t wait to go again

Amazing experience. Well organised, well produced. Just the right amount of attendees-not packed/greedy which seems unusual these days. Fabulous actors who really remembered you at each interaction. Food and drink a bit pricey, but otherwise can’t be faulted.

For adults, yes maybe, for kids, no

I took my 13 year old son to this. The good news.. It was great to see everyone else dressed up, and everyone working there was very friendly and in character. And the cinema was good. But overall I was just confused, the themes were very adult, and because everything involved dancing, singing, or approaching characters to "trade", unless you are a huge extrovert it was hard to get involved. The live show was OK for adults but bad for the kids because they just couldn't see anything in a crowd of adults at floor level. I had bought premium tickets but had literally no idea what this "did". Did everyone have premium tickets? I don't know! But I didn't get any food or drink tokens, which I found out later I should have.

GOTG show

GOTG show; Too loud to hear any mission information, far too many people and no live action in the film. Secret cinema used to be amazing, now it’s clearly focused on maximising profits. This is my 5th production and probably my last.

Brilliant unique fun in realistic set and actors…

Amazing set with brilliant actors performing key parts of the film. As much interaction as you want and plenty of shows to watch as you want to wander through and observe. Great that everyone looks the part and most have adopted the colours and even roles for the show. Food great and cocktails tasty. Brilliant dancers, singers and artists to see and a few secret spaces to try and find.

Incredible team and actors made me fell very taken care of

Truly incredible experience. The event itself is a lot of fun, the actors clearly are extremely talented and stay in character constantly (more on that later) to give everyone the best time possible. The set design is amazing, feels perfectly from the film and the amount of events going on before the film makes it feels so alive. You're not going to be able to do everything because the point isn't completing it but having an entirely unique experience.

What I want to shout out the most is the team behind the scenes making it all run smoothly, especially Mallory and one other of the staff (I'm sorry I don't think I caught your name) and the lady at first aid. I had a tumble and these three made me feel extremely well taken care of and ensured that I could still enjoy the rest of the event to the best of my ability. Even all of the actors took special care to include me when I was wheeling about in the chair. And a big thanks to Gamora, who stayed in character even backstage when I was in the first aid trailer and she came by. Lovely team all round, incredible day so thank you guys a lot.

GOTG party: an extrovert paradise

Have been to the secret cinema before and this one was a little more chaotic and confusing, but at the same time it was still a good night and worth going to experience. All of the staff (actors and bar/food persons) were the star attraction, they were friendly, stayed in character and really made the experience immersive.
Food and drink are towards the higher end of pricing (though maybe in line for London/attractions), but are good quality and are part of the whole experience.
The games/trading areas for the gotg experience seemed small for the amount of people they had in the place so you have to decide if waiting for something will make you miss out elsewhere, but without instructions/layout then you can't tell. Best thing is to try and be involved as much as possible, definitely more one for the extroverts or just being lucky to be given a mission/being in the right place at the right time to see an interaction.
