Yorkshire Bank is absolutely appalling

Yorkshire Bank is absolutely appalling. Their app is hit and miss, their online banking is frankly crap, their customer service is terrible and the only way to close your account is to go in branch! My nearest branch is 100 miles away and obviously - we're in lockdown. The worst bank I've ever had the misfortune of dealing with, avoid at all costs!

A truly dreadful bank.

I tried to send my daughter some money on the App two weeks ago. The bank stopped the transaction. I fully understood this, as it was a substantial amount and i appreciated a bank trying to protect me from scamming.
I phoned to verify myself and passed some security questions and was assured everything would be okay.
Later that day i noticed my account had been locked.
Over the last fortnight i've phoned Yorkshire bank NINE times, waiting for literally hours in phone queues, being fobbed off by various faceless customer service staff who give me the impression they just don't give a damn and two weeks later my account is STILL locked and this bank are still preventing me having access to my OWN money through no fault of my own.
The incompetence is beyond belief!
I am a foster carer, currently looking after four children and i need access to my money, but nobody at Yorkshire Bank/Virgin Money seems to care. Needless to say i do not recommend this bank.
Stay well clear!

Really bad service

Really bad service. You request change of mandate and they ask to provide paperwork. Once you do so - they send you a letter that Business Account is being closed and repay everything all loans etc in full within 2 months. Phone service is horrible - you stay on the line for 30 min and they hang up, after another 30 min they say - bank can excersice the right to close account without reason... would give 0 starts if I could.

Frustrated is the polite way of expressing my feeling.Ive been with this bank since 1989 when it felt like a personal bank that is now not the case.If i could give half star i would. After been locked out of my on line banking APP i was given a number to call via the blocked message.I call this over Fours hours ago where the the call handler said it could take upto 4 fours therefore me calling back at 4.20 pm as still locked. In a queue of 15 ,once through at 5pm (closing time) i was told the department i needed had closed at 5pm.Why do they give a direct number to call the department needed....ABSOLUTE FARCE...save your money somewhere else people..

Yorkshire Bank is useless, AVOID

Yorkshire Bank is useless, AVOID! Seriously, money has gone missing from my account again and they won't do anything about it! First £29.90 goes out each month, apparently its my fault for signing up to something we'll I'd love to know what that "something" is because I don't sign up to anything! And yesterday £38 was taken out of my account! Yorkshire Bank fraud team won't do a thing about it until I've asked the companies myself only thing is aren't they the ones who are supposed to do this!? Also, it looks like the companies are fake because they show up on my statements but when it comes to looking for them online I can't find them! They always tell me I'm failing security when I phone customer services, I have recently changed my name by deed poll and they refuse to change my name on all documents; despite taking in proof of everything that has my new name on it. And on top of that I tried to set up a direct debit payment for my credit card I have with them, first they told me I had the address wrong, then after 5 minuets decided it was correct and as soon as they decided it was correct they claimed their system had shut down and they would give me a phone call back when it was up and running again. Despite them having my phone number I had to give it to them again and I am still waiting to hear from them. I will be closing this account and opening a new account with a different bank as I am fed up of money going missing or being taken when I haven't set any payments up I can't afford to keep losing money, I'm on a low income as it is and I feel like they don't care. AVOID THIS BANK

Yorkshire bank definitely not safe to keep your money

Only gave 1 star as their was nothing Less to give I’ve banked with Yorkshire for 30 years and not had a problem with them until Virgin money took over had issues from them not telling it’s customers about the merger but saying they did and their terrible banking app and customer service to having to move my mortgage from them due to mortgage department being closed when trying to get a better deal from them to then a month later to still take a mortgage payment for a mortgage that had been moved to Barclays and the direct debit had been cancelled 3 times on their app and then refused a refund, your money is not safe with them so will be switching everything to Barclays

Since its changed to virgin money i actually had a male from THEIR ACTUAL DEPARTMENT TRY SCAMMING ME!

They wont even raise this up because i rang the team themselves to change a number. Confirmed my details randomly puts me on hold for 15 minutes no reason why and says ‘your account is locked and is your account a debit card? i need ALL your bank details’ i said what? You randomly had me on hold and now your wanting all my bank details i dont think so.

Went in store and my account infact had no lock or any warnings. Clearly inside staff tried getting my money. I wouldnt trust ANYONE clearly not even the own bank.

Please be careful tbh’!

What a shambles this bank is

What a shambles this bank is. Had a credit paid into our account for £20 but instead of increasing the balance by this amount they actually reduced it by over £600.!!
I didn’t see this for a few days and trying to speak to someone on the phone is an absolute nightmare. So I suggest everyone uses a calculator and DO NOT take your bank balance at face value. It could be totally wrong!!

I had banked with YB since my childs account but switched my personal account to Lloyds in 2018 and found an instant improvement in ease of use and customer service. I am now at my wits end with them for our (mine and my parents partnership business) business account with them and will b switching that too. Customer service is dreadful and literally everything you might want to do with your bank account YB will have a way of making it 10 times more difficult. Just avoid them, I dont expect they'll be around much longer at this rate. They've lost themselves a very healthy account and sum of money.
