Honestly these are definitely the worst company out there, I bought a new hard drive for work for my laptop and they said everything was fine all shipped and that waited 3 weeks for it and in they end they sent me an email saying the part was no longer in stock so my order was cancelled, so I’ve had to postpone work again because of these a-holes and they won’t even offer a refund stay clear people🤦‍♂️😤

Appalling customer service to replace £200 drive

This has to be the **very worst customer service** I have received from a tech company. Bought a £200 Professional drive, which was part of their promotion, and fitted my needs perfectly. However, soon after using, the drive started to glitch, and failed to mount, even after numerous wipes - eventually it failed completely.

Went through usual online process of "tech support", finally obtained a return number, and paid to send back recored first class. That's over a MONTH ago, with no feedback or acknowledgment from customer service. Their online chat "service" simply reiterates that it is being 'processed', but absolutely nothing happens. They have refused to offer a refund, stating a replacement is out for delivery, but again **nothing received**.

I have since bought a new drive, and have been effectively scammed out of £200.

Scammers

Scammers. Please avoid! I should have read the reviews on them, but who would have thought that WD would be like this? I placed an order for an SSD, and right afterward, they said it is 1-month back ordered. They did not show this at the time I ordered it. I tried to cancel, but they will not allow it. I have to resort to filing a chargeback with my bank. So much stress!!!! PLEASE AVOID WD!

Ripped off

I thought that I was being smart by ordering directly from these scumbags instead of eBay, Amazon, etc. I ordered three cards from them, and they shipped two. I ordered two of the same SKU, and they screwed up and only included one. Now they want me to "prove" that they sent only two. I may have to open a PayPal dispute. Do you think PP is going to side with me or with the giant corporation that ripped me off? I will never order from these crooks again.

ETA: They censor reviews on their website, so it isn't possible to leave negative reviews there. All reviews that you read on their website were approved by Western Digital before they were published.

Don't buy WD Drives

I bought a World book duo, thinking it would be the best option, how wrong I was. WD supprt for older drives is non existent, all they want is to sell you a new one and you lose your data. Don't be fooled into buying WD Drives, poor customer support.

Good if no issue, but pray that you don't encounter one

Ordered on June 23rd but tracking stopped updating since June 30th, I've been chasing them. Their customer service is bad to say the least. Tracking now shows it has been returned to them and I asked for a replacement sent asap. A "supervisor" named Aris responded saying they want to arrange a call. With no apologies, no resolution, nothing, they just want to call me for a chat. I mean come on, after weeks of telling me to wait now that tracking finally shows it's been returned and instead of processing a replacement straight away they want to waste my time further by "arranging a call"?

Terrible Experience.

Terrible Experience.
I ordered two drives on a Friday with priority delivery.
The following Monday @ 16:45 they still hadn't been dispatched although were showing in stock. I called WD and spoke to someone who "allegedly" got the drives sent out immediately. Whether they were actually sent or just a postage label printed I cant say. Tracking appeared the next day and for several days the drives appeared stuck in Holland. I contacted WD twice about this by email and got no response.

The drives eventually arrived a week after I placed the order and paid for priority shipping.

I couldn't believe the packaging that WD had used - a hugely oversized flimsy box with zero internal packing which allowed the drives to rattle around the box each time it was picked up in transit. The lid of the box was held on by 1 cm of tape and on arrival one side had come undone and was half open - enough for the drives to have fallen out.

This is appalling packaging for such sensitive devices, I have worked in IT for 40 years and have all too often seen drives work initially only to fail within the first few months and I am convinced that rough handling is a major contributor. Good packaging is critical and I just cant get my head around how a drive manufacturer, shipping expensive drives, can care so little about packaging.

I copied my third email,, for an RMA, to the CEO and UK Finance director and got a phone call from WD an hour or two later.

I agreed to receive a discount against new drives but had to wait several days for the codes, then one didn't work. I needed the drives urgently so went ahead and ordered new drives paying for premium shipping.

I got to say that despite WD assuring me the new drives will be properly packaged I am not confident that they will be, and if not they will be returned and I will buy some Seagate Iron Wolf drives locally.

WD have been my drive of choice since the 1990's, I am very disappointed in their 2022 service - they have fallen a long way. If anything goes wrong with my new order I wont be using WD again.

Western Digital and UPS

I was part of the My Cloud debacle that was hacked and wiped, fortunately I had mine backed up. I promptly returned my drive and waited for the 40% off voucher to arrive so I could order a new one. After a couple of reminder phone calls the voucher arrived in my inbox and I ordered the drive only to find that it was on back order and would be approx 3 weeks before it was sent. Three weeks went by and the email arrived saying the drive was being sent, tracking number attached, this took me to UPS tracking website where I was told it would be delivered the following Monday. It didn't arrive, the tracking then changed to delivery Tuesday, didn't come then either. Several phone calls later to Western Digital and UPS and countless false promises from UPS telling me different days it would be delivered over the next week, UPS admitted they had lost it, last seen clearing customs then disappeared in to thin air. UPS sent me the documentation saying they had lost it, this I passed on to WD who then told me they needed to do an investigation which could take up to 14 days, when complete they would refund me and give me a new voucher to order again, why could they not just send me another one???? So ten days later I had a refund and a new voucher was issued, I went to order and once again the drive was on back order of 2-3 weeks. last week the email arrived saying the order was being sent, I clicked on the tracking and to my surprise it was to be delivered the next day, it didn't arrive, shock. The next day the tracking showed that the parcel was damaged and needed to be returned to WD, so I rang WD who assured me that they would deal with it promptly. So, here I am one week later with no drive, no refund, no email explaining what is happening and to make matters worse I rang today for an update and the system is down all day for planned maintenance, fantastic planning WD!!!!
So I have now been without a working drive since July/August and I have no idea when this will get resolved.
If you value your sanity do not buy from Western Digital all of their customer service operators need retraining so that they don't yawn and sigh mid conversation, extremely annoying.
As for UPS don't trust the tracking it lies and goes back in time and all of their customer service ops have a script that must say "if we cant find it just say its coming tomorrow"
Am I just unlucky or are these two companies always this bad? I wish I could leave a zero star review, one star is far too generous.

Typical Big Corp who treats is customers with utter contempt

Dealing with Western Digital has been the worst online retail experience of my life. Please read my review and decide for yourself if you wish to purchase products from them directly.

I placed an order for 4 x 10TB external hard drives through the WD online store. When the package arrived, upon opening only 2 drives were in the parcel. I contacted them to explain the problem and they asked me to provide photographic evidence of the package, invoice and serial no's of the drives in the box which I promptly did. I was asked to wait 7-10 days for them to deal with the issue and refund or replace the missing drives. Whilst not happy to have to wait I reluctantly accepted.

After 10 days I had heard nothing from them so contacted them again to be told that they had to investigate the issue with their parcel courier, I explained that I didn't understand why I had to wait for them to resolve internal issues with their logistics provider, I was told that there was nothing they were willing to do until this investigation completed which would be another 7-10 days.

After trying my best to get somewhere with this company through their international call centre and following the guidance given by Citizens Advice I established that they have no formal complaint process, no escalation process, no interest in trying to resolve a dispute through an Alternative Dispute Resolution provider. Therefore I was left with no choice but to pursue them through the UK Courts by making a money claim (small claims court claim) as still no refund or replacement or any willingness to correspond with me has been forthcoming.

This company have failed to act reasonably, fairly or in accordance with their obligations under the The Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. Incidentally their terms of sale attempt to run roughshod over these regulations by suggesting that they have no liability for products shipped once handed to their appointed logistics provider, this is completely unenforceable and against the above named act. At least their terms state that "Your statutory rights are not affected", damn right they aren't!

With thanks to Citizens advice and after some searching and digging I have been able to get some proper details for issuing/serving court documents in the UK to this company. These are virtually impossible to find on their own website.

Be prepared to wait for arrival of in-stock item....

Sorted in the end - WD UK say they shipped item (13 Sept 2021), yet it hasnt moved from shipped status to on its way (over a week later), tracking number also invalid... raised support ticket (ignored)... So Phoned them, I was given correct tracking number, (arrived 21 sept 2021), all sorted politely & nicely by staff member... but I obviously dont need this additional stress with a £350 online order... Be prepared to wait a bit for arrival of in-stock item....

LITERALLY the Absolute Worst Ever

Astonishingly terrible customer service. Long story short... Ordered a product, but had to return it. Called for an RMA number, but took TWO calls in order to actually receive it (guess they didn't process it the first time). Shipped the item promptly back to them with the UPS shipping label they provided. Several days go by, but no communication or refund. I check the RMA number on their website for a status update, but the RMA number doesn't even come up. I call. I online chat. I email. Nothing. A multitude of calls later and I am still no closer to a resolution. I am contemplating contacting my credit card company about this. Honestly...and I do mean this...WD has the absolute worst customer service I have ever encountered. It's practically non-existant.

WD Store tried to scam me

This is the most horrible customer service I have ever experienced. First they sent me products that did not match their item descriptions, by performing much worse than advertised. I had to reach out to WD many tomes to get a response to my return request.
Before WD accepted my RMA request they demanded from me to take a picture of the back of all 4 cards with their serial numbers. After submitting the images they approved the return.
I shipped back all 4 cards that I originally received from Western Digital.
But I received only the money for the 2 cheaper cards, while WD falsely states that I did not return the 2 expensive cards.
whether it is a complete lie and they are aware that I returned all 4 correct cards
or (option 2) someone at their warehouse stole mine.
Either way, this is not my problem and I should not have to deal with it.
Go to my youtube channel ParadiseBizz to see the video including my video proof of returning the correct cards.

Ordered 512GB usb drive directly on 02/07/21 on 15/07/21 tracking changed to return to sender. Contacted WD support who told me I'd get a refund 7 days after they received it back and I'd have to re-order. Item is no longer on sale and is now nearly twice the price.

Ordered from amazon and arrived in a few hours for £30 less than re-ording direct.

Absolute joke and perfect example of how not to do business.

Never Again

Visited online store 2nd july 2021, placed an order for a 2tb ssd, delivery in 3-5 working days. Tracking stated delivery by friday 9th. Updated info on 8th said check back tomorrow. Same on 9th and 10th. 10th july I opened paypal case and awaited a response, checking delivery status daily. No response from anyone, at any time. 14th july 2021, tracking shows item being returned to sender. Still no response or refund from Western Digital. Can't escalate to a claim until 17th July. I WILL NEVER ORDER FROM THEM AGAIN, AFTER THIS. They obviously couldn't care less about their customers and are utterly ignorant whenever a problem arises. I could have had this for £10 less and delivered within 2 days using Amazon, but I thought ordering directly from the manufacturer would be better and easier. HOW WRONG WAS I??
Edit
In addiction to the above, teaxking information shows my item never left Holland and was returned to western digital.
NOTE, THAT DESPITE THEM NEVER SHIPPING IT TO ME, THEY STILL REFUSED TO ANSWER PAYPAL MESSAGES AND STILL DID NOT HONOUR A REFUND.
Track it on Ups yourself number is 1Z97W1856840952319
