What are the major problems that you…

One of the major problems is that you cannot activate the panic alarm through your phone app. If you’re traveling away from home and you see someone trying to break in on your camera it’d be nice to activate the alarm system so the sirens scare them off before you actually smash windows or door . It especially seems like a good idea as in my city of Seattle the police are not even responding anymore to home alarms because there are so many false alarms.

I know SimpliSafe would like to have us pay more so their people can monitor our cameras, but let me tell you the idea of someone monitoring my cameras creeps the hell out of me, so just give me the ability to set the sirens off if I see a problem

Quick response to water alarm

Quick response to water alarm saved us from any further damage to basement living areas. Can't imagine what things would have turned out if we hadn't been able to respond in a timely manner.

SimpliSafe lacks a function that I had…

SimpliSafe lacks a function that I had and used every night in an ADT system that I had installed in a prior house over 30 years ago. It was a button on the keypad that would have the alarm sound instantly when a door was opened or a motion detector was triggered.

I lived in a two story home and each night I would set the set the alarm and hit “instant.”

No matter what the SimpiSafe folks tell you, they don’t have this feature.

When I decided to use SimpliSafe, I assumed that this feature would be available, since I had it in 1995. I was very wrong. When I move, I will get a system that actually has this feature.

We did want to clarify that this feature is available within SimpliSafe and is called “Instant Trigger.” It can be enabled directly in your SimpliSafe app within your device settings. Once turned on, it allows your system to trigger immediately when a door is opened or motion is detected, similar to what you described from your previous system.

Problems with the indoor cameras…

I've had many occasions with indoor cameras losing their WiFi connection, even though my house is not large, and all devices show Good or at least Fair signal.
They usually recover after restarting them, but that doesn't help if they fail to record an important event.

I know there are newer cameras available for purchase, but then the old ones are wasted money?

SS should provide an upgrade path via trade-in of old devices and cameras for the newer ones.
