Depression. Rage. Anxiety. Are these words familiar to you? If they are, know that they are the 3 most common emotions of myself after using Sparx Maths. I don't even know where to begin, but I think I'll start with the most minor flaw, the book checks. Now, I am in ownership of a decently sized maths book, so these are not as big of an inconvenience as most seem to find them, but I do fail to to see their purpose. It doesn't aid the learning process, it's just an extra bit of labour. Next up, I must discuss the videos created to help the Sparx Maths slaves. On occasion, these do work, but that is a once in a blue moon situation. Most of the time, they serve little to no purpose and do what Sparx does best; make you feel like an idiot. Also, the voice acting for the videos are painfully dry. Another thing that severely annoys me is the fact that the questions change after a certain amount of attempts. Being fair to Mark Dixhead, the website was updated so that there is an indication for this. However, when one is focused on solving one question, they have a rather low chance of seeing this. Another thing I must mention is the most recent update as of writing this review. That being the overlay covers. Why? Who thought that changing the tint of the foreground would actually do something? Something I might add to this is that when applying one of these, there is a notification that says that with this filter, some questions might not appear as intended. So, instead of fixing that potential problem, they just warn you and don't do anything about it! Yet another thing that can be brought up are the main part of this show, the questions themselves. The difficulty is confusingly inconsistent. Overall, Mark Dixon is fortunately getting older, meaning he is closer to his death, a day that will be celebrated worldwide. 0/10

I recently had the misfortune of using Sparx Maths, and I can honestly say it is one of the worst educational tools I have ever encountered. From the very first session, I noticed glaring issues with the platform that made the learning experience not only frustrating but also counterproductive. The most significant problem is that Sparx’s answers are often wrong. This fundamental flaw undermines the very purpose of using an educational tool, which is to learn and understand new concepts accurately.

Having to rely on incorrect answers defeats the purpose of practicing math problems. When I spend time working through a problem only to be told that my correct answer is wrong, it is incredibly demoralizing. Instead of building confidence in my math skills, Sparx Maths has made me doubt my abilities. This repeated exposure to incorrect feedback is detrimental to learning, as it hampers progress and understanding.

Moreover, the user interface of Sparx Maths is absolutely dreadful. The plain white background is uninspiring and makes the platform look unfinished and amateurish. A more visually appealing and engaging design could have made the experience slightly more bearable, but Sparx fails even in this basic aspect. The monotony of the interface adds to the overall frustration, making each session feel like a chore rather than an opportunity to learn.

One of the most frustrating aspects of Sparx Maths is that every question has to be answered correctly before moving on. This rigid structure is highly impractical and unrealistic. In a classroom setting, teachers understand that students may struggle with certain concepts and provide guidance accordingly. Sparx, however, does not accommodate this natural part of the learning process. Forcing students to repeatedly attempt the same question until they get it right, especially when the answer might be wrong, is not only ineffective but also discouraging.

The platform’s insistence on absolute correctness does not consider the varying paces at which students learn. Some students might need more time and support on certain topics, and this one-size-fits-all approach is detrimental to those who require a different learning pace. Rather than fostering a supportive learning environment, Sparx Maths feels punitive and unsupportive.

Additionally, Sparx Maths is mandatory for every student, which only exacerbates the problem. If the platform were optional, students who find it unhelpful could seek alternative resources. However, being forced to use a flawed system daily feels like a punishment rather than an educational aid. The compulsory nature of Sparx Maths is a significant downside, especially when better resources are available.

I would rather do almost anything else than use Sparx Maths. The time spent on this platform feels wasted, as the incorrect answers and poor design do not contribute to meaningful learning. There are many other educational tools and resources that are far more effective and engaging. Forcing students to stick with Sparx Maths is a disservice to their education and motivation.

In conclusion, Sparx Maths is a deeply flawed educational tool that fails in its fundamental purpose of aiding learning. The incorrect answers, uninspiring design, and rigid structure make it one of the least effective platforms I have ever used. Education should be about fostering understanding and confidence, not creating frustration and doubt. Sparx Maths misses the mark entirely, and I would not recommend it to anyone seeking a reliable and supportive learning resource.

It is crucial for educational tools to be accurate, engaging, and adaptable to individual learning needs. Sparx Maths lacks in all these areas, making it a poor choice for students. I sincerely hope that future updates or alternative resources will address these significant issues, as the current state of Sparx Maths is far from satisfactory.

rather watch nails on a chalkboard and listen to a fork scraping a plate for eternity then do maths on this app.

I'm too stressed thinking about Sparx and overstimulated

I don't want to seem like a jerk here, but this has been one of the worst experiences I've had in a long time.

The colours on it feels way too overstimulating, and makes me more stressed than normal, and there isn't even a setting to turn it off. I have to do it manually, or sometimes I can't even do it manually because it's on the school computer, and I have to just put up with it. [ Can you add a monochrome filter? Thanks. ]

Since the times table thing is compulsory, I end out just being overstimulated and stressed. Keep in mind the homework is around an hour and a half long if you get everything right.

Let's not forget about the bookwork checks, since they make this all more harder. Trust me on this one, flipping through a book trying to find something whilst overstimulated and struggling to keep some form of sense is not a pleasant feeling.

so unfair how the rest of my class got 3 sections of homework with 5 questions each and I got 6 harder and with over 7 questions per section every week!!! like can't it be fair? I'm even need to complete homework about stuff that I've never learn!!!

this is so bad it is so long

un accurate answers and questions the app appears to be made to make teachers lives easier by not setting and marking homework and the app just makes students lives harder, school keeps telling people to spend less time on devises and then put all the homework online personally I love to read but Sparks reader ruins reading for me. as well as at the beginning they do not ask you what your preferred genera is they just give you a bunch of random selections of books

before, i would've put a one star review. butt, because you removed the need to redo the question after getting a book work check it's gone up to two stars
and you gave me a cool little card for getting some xp so that was kinda nice
only thing i gotta say is to completely get rid of book work checks but i guess we can only ask for so much
