It would be difficult to put into words how I feel about the origanisation that raised millions of dollars (USD) on Kickstarter and Indiegogo and never delivered the product to so many of the people who backed them. Covid was a thing and reasonably delayed delivery but not prohibited it. So many lies about the company was doing. It's not like they delivered nothing, it's just the priority seems ot have gone to US/UK/India/Europe and not Australia/Rest of the world. So many complaints as well from those who recieved a faulty/non-working product and could not get a replacement. Terrible, terrible customer focus

I ordered the chess board in October 2023, it is April 2024 and the chess never arrived. I asked for refund, no replay.... It seems like a scam, unfortunately.

I made an order in december 2023, they didn't send me even order number. in 2 months (without any reply before and i sent dozens of emails), they appear to claim I'll have my order by March, 30th refusing to cancel my order!!! here I am, no money, no product, no reply. they are obviously waiting me to claim my money back via other method. AVOID!!!

Me remiten mail indicando a fecha de HOY que habían procedido a la devolución del dinero a la misma cuenta y banco desde el que realicé pago.
Pero…
ME INDICAN QUE LA CANTIDAD (que es correcta) y el final de número de cuenta, que también es correcto, es
- por devolución de un recibo cuyo número NO COINCIDE con el del recibo de compra.
- que el ingreso tardará unos 10 días y QUE SI NO LLEGARE ME PUSIERA EN CONTACTO CON MI BANCO.
Inmediatamente les he contestado nuevo el número de recibo correcto (no el que ellos aluden es objeto de devolución) preguntándoles si esa no coincidencia es un error o una broma por parte de Square Off Inc.

The Customer Service gave me an arrival date. The date indicated has passed

After some conversations with them, I request the cancellation of the order and the REFUND of the amount.

They sent me an email indicating on TODAY that they had returned the money to the same account and bank from which I made the payment.
But...
THEY INDICATE TO ME THAT THE AMOUNT (which is correct) and the end of the account number, which is also correct, is
- for the return of a receipt whose number DOES NOT MATCH the purchase receipt.
- that the deposit will take about 10 days and THAT IF DO NOT ARRIVE I WOULD CONTACT MY BANK.
I have immediately answered them again the correct receipt number (not the one they allude to is subject to return) asking them if that non-coincidence is an error or a joke on the part of Square Off Inc.

Don't you find it strange that you refer to a receipt that is not the purchase receipt and that if there is a problem it has to be me who has to look for a solution in my bank?

The Square Off team's after-sales…
The Square Off team's after-sales service is excellent. Although it took them a while to assist me, they ultimately delivered on their promises. Initially, I experienced frustration due to how they handled my complaints, but now I can confidently say that they are committed to assisting their customers in resolving issues. They replaced my chessboard with a new one, allowing me to continue playing. Thank you, Square Off Team.
Don't trust Miko or SquareOff…
I ordered a chess board through Square Off in 2019. Then Miko bought Squareoff in 2023, but there has been nothing delivered. Miko has offered a kids robot as a replacement, but this is not acceptable and there is no clear commitment to deliver the Chessboards to Australian customer in a reasonable timeframe (mid 2024 ???). I really don't like this company because they are either unwilling or unable to honour their agreements. If Miko deliver the product that has been paid for then I am willing to change this review.
Seriously a scam!
I ordered a Swap board on Jan 2023 and have not received it yet. Their customer service is basically a lazy bot which if you be persistent enough might finally answer your emails with a general and misleading answer. In early December, I asked for full refund and they canceled my order and promised to initiate the refund after 30 days. Still no refund and no answer from the customer service!
None replies and order not delivered
I ordered SWAP chessboard on mid of september. expected delivery to my hands by the end of november 2023. I contacted them on November's 2023 end and they replyied to my email (ten days for a reply) that delivery was rescheduled to end of Jan 2024. Just to point out that I would expect to be contacted by them and not to be me to ask them and just then being informed of the delay. End of Jan I contacted them again by email (4 emaiuls and none replied) I got the phone numebr but it starts a voice message and then ... nobody... my order now has signalled as shipped but after a week no track number
Beware of pre-ordering anything, products never get sent
Also waited forever for an order (Swap) that never got sent, instead the deadline got moved over and over again. They are or were selling products that do not exist and it's unclear when or if at all they will. Support finds ridiculous excuses that are implausible ("problem with logistics"). After 1.5 years and losing all hopes I cancelled my order and fortunately got my money back fairly quickly. 2 stars because at least I got my money back
Bad custom service
Bad custom service. Cheap product. The pieces must to be all the time in the middle, most all my games been frozen due to pieces, software? If something doesn`t like the game is frozen, you must to resign. Don`t waste your money.
Likely the worst company I've ever dealt with
Waited over three years for the chess board I backed and it never came. I asked for a refund and was sent an EXPIRED visa gift card instead of, you know, being refunded. I'm blown away by how awful this company is, and how deceitful they've been throughout the development of their products. Never backing a product again after this awful experience, and staying far far far away from Square Off.
I've also heard that the few people who did get a board have had nothing but bad experiences with their boards, including warped boards and mechanical malfunctions. Pathetic. I hope this company goes down in shambles.
Able to give you a nice OTB experience
I got the SWAP after waiting for 2.5 years or so. Fair to say that the pandemic caused unexpected delays indeed. The board seems to be well constructed and so far it is working decently. Although it has happened that a couple of times the robotic arm is out of calibration and the fix has been either to upgrade the firmware or to ensure that you have a good internet connection right when the device is being turned on. I see a lot of potential with this product if they increase the reliability. Its sort of fascinating to see the pieces moving by themselves :D
Always waiting. Always apologises.
Since more than 4 years I waited vor the square off chess board. Nothing happened. They only had apologieces. Now, Miko bought the company. What changed? Nothing! Miko sells the boards now instead on their store while telling us we have to wait. They got a lot of money from a lot of backers. They are not loyal to their customers. I am tired of waiting. Never will I buy again anything from those company’s.

Terrible! Waited over three years for the chess board. Once it finally arrived, the surface warped. I was promised a replacement. It’s never arrived. I’ve asked for a refund and no one replies, they just close my support ticket. They should be fined for being so terrible and lying to customers.

I backed this product 3 years ago as a kickstarter and waited those 3 years to get my board. I had it for 2 weeks before it became faulty back in July and i was told that I had a years warranty so I could return the item and get a replacement and like many others the expected delivery date kept getting pushed back until they stopped responding to me altogether. It has now been 2 months since they last replied to me so now I am out over £200 and no signs that I will ever get the board i waited so patiently for. Absolute disgrace of a company and I do not advise anyone to place your trust in these people. Keep your money safe and avoid this company at all costs!!
