Bought one of the card reader from costco for my new business last week and set up the account at the end of process received an email said bank account needs verification will take 2 to 4 working days. After 4 working days I received an email to say they need more info which I sent. After another 2 days I received an email to say unable to verify my bank account when this was clearly linked up successfully. I am unable to open my bussiness for another 4 days. Highly recommend Sum up

The reader doesn't stay connected to your phone. The reader rarely connects to my phone and I've had so many problems with the reader that I have had to stop using square all together as the tap to pay doesn't work either. I have found it pretty useless and it definitely wasn't worth it.

Simple to set up on both tap and pay on my personal IPhone 15 using the app. Also, easy to use the card reader using the organisation’s iPhone 11. Recommended!

Square is easy and reliable for a very small business such as my craft stall, and does not require a long-term committment as there are no contracts. However, as with all card reader companies, I think the fees are too high.

Absolutely awful company stop away they deactivated the reader without notice when you have done nothing wrong , you can't speak to someone English they keep your money , rude staff I only give it 1 because there was no option for 0 stay away from square plenty good providers out there

The service is easy to use, I really like the reader which is elegant, although fragile, I'm on my 3rd which is holding up much better than the previous 2.
I also appreciate being paid the next working day as opposed to 3 with other providers

We only use a card reader to sell tickets for our concerts 3 times a year, so we have a small turnover.
Card reader is secure and can be used with wifi when available and with data roaming when not. System takes several minutes to sign in, but it is quick once you get started on the sales. Easy to track sales on mobile phone app or on the website.

I have been using Square to take payments for my business for about 5 years now.
No real issues and hassle free payment system.
One £20 square reader has lasted for years without replacing.
Also the commission I pay them is so much less than PayPal.
My turnover is now reasonable and would appreciate a lower commission paid to them.
But all in all a great tool for my business,

I'm selling relatively small numbers of event tickets so I need a system with no upfront charges. Square is great, especially because it sends out a booking confirmation that can be treated as an e-ticket,
The included free 'shop' website is ideal, I just link to the individual item pages from my website but you could use the shopfront as your home page if you don't have a website yourself.
The best bit is I can download a CSV summary of sales, copy and paste the data into a page in my tickets spreadsheet and set that up to allocate sales to the different events, which allows me to (almost completely) automate confirmation emails, door lists and various records I want to keep.
I'll probably add a Square card reader to my setup for door tickets and other sales.

Great system, I have Had the system working in the shop for over 2 years now.
Work well and I have got some of the extras, Stand with tablet, scanner, printer, card reader & Terminal. All this and it is linked to my wesite. I can keep track of stock & also look back at all sales. and when i have had to use customer service they have been very helpful and quick to deal with the issue.

I love Square. It made my business so easy. I can take payments online through my website, I can take payments via payment links, over the phone, even take contactless payments with my phone. I don't need a card reader. That's just great. I am happy with their fees as well. What I would like to see is individual /unique discount codes that I could offer to my corporate clients so when their team members book our services they can apply the discount code at the online checkout point. I couldn't find this one. Otherwise great!

I bought a basic square card reader a few days ago, as I had seen that Square offer the highest rated one. Boy are those reviews wrong!! It refused to connect to my phone, even though I have the latest version of android and Bluetooth, and the app is full of bugs!! I had to try and verify my identity for card payments via the website rather than the app, and even then it refused to verify me as it said they were unable to confirm my details - I inputted all the correct information which is on all my bank documents!
All of this rendered the reader completely useless to me, so I decided to return it. Going about getting a refund was also incredibly arduous, as the button to generate my pre paid shipping label to put on my parcel just didn't work due to a bug!! I had to call customer service, which took about 20 minutes, and eventually I was given the address to send it to from them. I'm still waiting to see if I'll get my money back or if they'll try and wriggle out of that too!! I will never use this company again, and I highly recommend that everyone else does the same, as I lost about 3 work hours faffing around trying get everything to work!! If I could give you zero stars, I would.
I signed up a few years ago to take eventual payments for my room rental business (not a lot of money). It used to work quite well, I even bought their reader, which one day just stopped working and became an unusable piece of plastic.
Recently they unilaterally decided to restrict payments to my account, without even notifying me, vaguely citing some sections of their T&C that don't even apply to me, and they don't give any more explanations or answer my questions, with poor excuses like "agreements with card networks". If it's information about me, they should share it with me.
Nobody should trust a company like this.
UPDATE AFTER THEIR RESPONSE:
Can I give them less than 1 star?
First, they didn't send any mail notifying me of the termination,
They say they can't (obviously) discuss the matter on Trustpilot, but when I was chatting with their support about the reason why they terminated my account, they just ignored me.
And now they just repeat the same nonsense about their T&C, which I wrote in this very review they don't apply to me. They're useless.
