I have the entry level card reader but this can still mean 2 people can use it as I have tap to pay on my phone and the app using the reader on my tablet.
Paying just commission on each sale is so much better than having to pay a monthly fee as I often only use the card machine once a quarter at events but its handy to have the facility should it be required in between.

Started off really well, purchased a reader which worked most of the time. Without notice or warning I was not able to take payments, after following the online instruction several times that just looped round I called the service desk to find my account had been suspended for breaching there code of practise re guarantee of product. Strange as it’s used for honey sales..
No explanation or any more information, service just stopped. Waste of time, easier using PayPal .. !
Very dissatisfied person here as this all happened at a show, I estimate several hundreds of pounds lost as couldn’t take the sale.

We are losing money because of this. There's no support at all. Some devices work with the reader, while others do not. We just hired a person for a stall. We tested everything the day before, and now we face a security issue. Customer service doesn't operate on weekends, and the links they provide in response to reviews don't even mention the issue. As I'm researching the problem, I've come to a conclusion: once you get a "secure session denial," you are on your own. It's inconsistent; sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Some devices are compatible, while others are not. It feels like a lottery. I know that SQ offers many features, but from a service like this, all you really want is reliability, which you definitely can't rely on.

The Square card reader works well for me as a crafter selling my products at markets. No monthly fees, the reader is tiny and elegant and it works. The money arrives in my bank account next working day.

We started our business about 5 months ago and was unsure with card reader to get, after a little research we chose the Square Reader and we are so glad that we did. It is so easy to use and to set up, it allows you to keep a stock count of all your products. I've never had any issue with it when working outside or on stalls. I would highly recommend the Square Reader. In fact I did at my last Fayre when someone was having an issue with their current reader

I am a new user and todate only had an issue with the reader but after updating software, all working.
I have 3 different business streams, one is mainly cash but with more recent requests to pay by card, I joined Square.
My main business shall (I hope!) will be online, once my product is ready for sale. All early days.
Happy with how easy it is to use Square.

Been using square basic card reader for 3 years. No issues and pretty quick payment. Easy to install and use
I’ve been with Square for7 years now. I did dabble with Worldpay and Payzone who’s Customer Service was nothing short of shocking along with their 12/18 month contracts and monthly fees. with Square, you set up the reader and provided you have a internet connection, away you go! My customers use the secure payment link via the invoices and as a Self-Employed Chauffeur, the reader can take a payment in my car, perfect!

Easy to use, nice compact card reader, great rates and the online terminal to take mail order payments is what sets Square apart from the competition. It's easily the best card payment processor and I can't recommend it enough. Wish I'd discovered it sooner.

Best thing that happened to my business. Absolutely brill. Had a sum up reader before. Terrible. Square reader . Works every time. Whenever , wherever being a taxi driver, always get a signal and it takes less than 3 seconds for payment accepted. Kerching . Well done square.

If i could give a minus one i would. I used square up through a third party vendor the same way you would use Apple pay or paypal. I specifically recall ticking the option not to have my details saved on file and now a month after the service i paid a deposit for through square up i have had £800plus taken from my account without my authorisation and square UK saving my details after i requested for them not to. I also paid the remaining amount via their card reader provided to a business and they have also taken £500 off another card. HOW? WHY? I do no know as none of this adhere to GDPR legislations and a complaint has been made to gov.uk and company house. You will be hearing from me as this is a joke.

Square has deactivated my account, stating that my business violates their policy on "occult materials," even though I am not offering any such services. As a guidance-based tarot reader, I use tarot cards as a tool to provide honest and supportive guidance to my clients, rooted in the present moment. I have made it clear on my website that I do not offer fortune-telling services and do not make any claims that my services can perform supernatural or metaphysical acts.
I reached out to Square's support team for assistance in integrating Square Appointments with my Woocommerce site. However, after sending them a support request, they deactivated my account without providing any justification or explanation. Despite my attempts to appeal their decision and clarify that my services do not fall under the category of "occult materials," they refused to reactivate my account.
I find it discriminatory and cruel that Square has labeled my business as "occult materials" without any justification or explanation. This decision not only hurts my business, but it is also unfair and unjust. I would not recommend Square to anyone who values fair treatment and respectful customer service.
Overall, I am deeply dissatisfied with Square's decision and their lack of willingness to reconsider their position.

I’ve been a customer since 2017. I’m on my 6th card reader they are garbage. Battery goes from 50% to nothing without even using. And the card reader itself stops reading chips out of nowhere too. Very inconvenient and embarrassing when you’re trying to get paid.
Can’t fault the software through, hence 2 star.

I used Squareup Reader for the first time at a recent public event. It worked perfectly. I needed to be shown how to connect to my bluetooth/my iphone by someone more tech savvy than me, but once shown...all good. Worked perfectly and funds were transferred to my account very quickly.
