They clearly do not vet their suppliers…
They clearly do not vet their suppliers as the whole experience with one was terrible. You expect to not have to worry about these things and that they would go smoothly. A Google search of the supplier soon came up with many web pages mentioning them being scammers, and many very bad reviews giving them an average score of 1.8 stars!

Thank you for your review. We want to address this directly, as the deposit amount was in fact provided to you.
Your booking confirmation, sent to you when you booked, includes a section titled "Excess and Security Deposits" which states clearly that a security deposit of around €1,500 EUR would be required by Flex to Go on collection. This is standard practice across the car rental industry and is set by the supplier, not by StressFreeCarRental.com — we are a booking intermediary and do not set or collect deposit amounts ourselves.
Security deposits are calculated based on the vehicle's excess/damage cover, not the rental cost, so they are not proportional to the amount you paid for the hire itself.
If you'd prefer a lower deposit at the desk, this is something Flex to Go may be able to offer via their own additional cover, or you still have the option to purchase Excess Protection through us, which is designed to reduce your financial exposure. Your booking isn't due for collection until 31-Aug, so there is time to review this if you wish.
