Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 382 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many customers express extreme frustration with the customer service, citing an inability to reach a human representative through various channels like email, phone calls, or chat. People frequently report issues with the website and support systems, often being directed to unhelpful online resources or automated bots that fail to resolve their problems. Reviewers also highlight a general lack of accountability and responsiveness from the staff, leading to significant disruptions in their personal and business operations. Conversely, a small portion of people felt satisfied with the service they received, describing agents as professional, kind, and effective in resolving their issues. These positive experiences often involved direct assistance from a human agent who took control of their screen or provided expert guidance.

Trying to get help from Microsoft to…

Trying to get help from Microsoft to update your email is impossible. For something so important how can they justify no actual customer support. The chat is useless. The bot has no useful info. I tried for days and days to get a solution. Terrible company.

Cutting‑Edge AI, Caveman‑Level Account Management

They want to present themselves as leaders in AI, yet their customer support and account‑management system are straight out of the Neanderthal era. Truly incomprehensible. They even manage to make subscribing to their paid plans impossible.

Worst customer service ever!!!!

Worst customer service ever! My husband has been trying all day just to get help signing in. The system was giving him issues. He had talked to a representative and they were supposed to call him back at 5:00. That didn’t happen. When he called back he was transferred twice. Neither person was able to help him. Finally after over an hour of total frustration he told the man to refund his money. We will not be using them anymore.

If I could rate less stars I would

If I could rate less stars I would. Microsoft is shady!!! I called from my phone inquiring about a refund for the game pass since I was just charged the reoccurring fee and decided to cancel it. Of course a bot answered and asked why I was calling and they told me to visit website and hung up. So I did and was having issues so I decided to call back and instead of asking how they can help, the bot said to visit the website again without asking me what I needed help with!!! They saw my number and knew why I was calling the first time and it kept doing that Everytime I called. So I called with no caller ID just to test out my theory and the bot asked what I needed help with!!! I then requested to speak to an agent without explaining my reasoning and the bot answered that it would but first to tell them the reason for calling and I refused, just to see if the bot would still transfer me. So instead of transferring me to an actual agent it hung up. This is TERRIBLE!! How can they get away with this!!? Any company that uses bots and does everything in their power to make things harder instead of easier for customers is SHADY!!!!!

3 WEEKS + 1 DAY locked out — zero support — paying customer in Tanzania

I have been completely locked out of my Microsoft 365 Business Standard account for 22 days (3 Weeks + 1 day) as the sole Global Admin!
My MS Authenticator device/protocol is broken, and every recovery route Microsoft provides loops back to it — there is no escape.

What I tried:
— Self-service portal: loops to broken Authenticator
— Microsoft Ireland (+353 1 706 3117): called 4 times, zero response
— Microsoft 1-800 billing line: a case was started, then the call was disconnected. Could not call back.
— Microsoft Kenya regional office: phone numbers are non-functional
— All listed Microsoft support email addresses: every single one bounced

I have my Tenant ID, billing reference, and proof of payment. I am not asking for anything I have not paid for. I simply cannot access it.

As a small business owner in Tanzania, I find the complete absence of workable customer support in Africa deeply disappointing for a company of this size.
Three weeks + 1 day (22 days) of lost productivity with no path to resolution is unacceptable.

I hope someone at Microsoft reads this and makes contact.

I see from the 8,500+ reviews on this and on Microsoft.com platforms — averaging 1.2 stars — that this is not an isolated incident.
Microsoft has a systemic support failure affecting paying customers globally, including in Africa, where support infrastructure is virtually non-existent!

Microsoft has horrible customer service

Microsoft is nearly impossible to get ahold of, their customer service is non-existent. Every phone number found online is a loop of automated attendants that take you nowhere. I finally called Microsoft corporate and received another number to customer support that took me to a live person. The number is 800-386-5550. That number does not appear to be given out on Microsoft's website.

Microsoft 365 Worst Customer Service Ever

For an organisation that makes so much money, support for Microsoft for 365 is the most appalling and frustrating that I have ever experienced. I was charged for an old outlook.com account alias that I have not used in years and cannot access. All I wanted to do was transfer my 365 subscription to a different email address that is also registered with Microsoft. After about 5 hours of trying different ways to get through to Microsoft, I eventually gave up. The automated responses just sent me around in loops, never being able to explain to a person what I wanted. Yet, they are still taking money for me. Their chat facility is constantly down. You cannot even make a complaint without having to jump through multiple automated hoops. Worst customer service ever.

Absolutely Disgusted By Stupid AI

I don't want to give any stars!
ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING SERVICE! SPENT 20 minutes talking to an AI that didn't even understand numbers!! This us absolutely ridiculous, outrageous and disgusting! I would have rather spent 20 minutes waiting on hold to speak to a human who can solve my issue in 5 minutes.
The worst part is that after repeating my phone number 20 times to this stupid AI, and after asking 6 times to speak to a human, it just hung up the phone and my urgent issue could not be resolved!
I feel absolutely appealed by the lack of human customer service. AI has no empathy, it cannot understand humans and our issues and this has left me and my family with a terrible opinion of Microsoft, your brand and the way you treat your users!
Completely disgusted!

Microsoft support is by far the worst

Microsoft support is by far the worst, most fragmented, segmented, ignorant group of individuals I have ever worked with in my entire life. They're all nice, but they don't know anything. And they one-step you into oblivion while they run multiple chats. If you need help, never go to them. Find someone else or figure it out yourself. It's a big, blank fest of blankety-blank. All I'm trying to do is change my physical address and nobody knows what to do and they're all telling me to do the same thing, to log into my account. Well I'm already logged into my account. How can I get to the point where I can change my address and my account if I'm not already logged into my account? Then of course they give you the old reach around you got to set the right region. Of course I'm in the right region. I'm in the United States. I don't fly around the world setting my account to different regions.

Very frustrating experience trying to…

Very frustrating experience trying to recover access to our organization’s Microsoft account.
I contacted Microsoft because I cannot access the account linked to one of our company emails. This email belongs to our organization, and I provided proof that we own and pay for the domain that domain.
Microsoft told me they cannot resolve the issue because the previous manager is still listed as the owner/global administrator. I explained that she no longer works for the organization and that I am the current manager, but I was advised to contact her directly and ask her to request the handover.
This is not a practical solution for an organization. Staff and managers change, and business accounts should not remain dependent on one former employee. There should be a clear recovery process when an organization can prove ownership of the domain.
The process has been stressful, time-consuming, and disappointing.

Hopeless non-support from Microsoft, like everyone else

Like everyone else, I could scream with frustration on how impossible it is to get support. I have a subscription which ran out in 2024 but I'm still being charged for it, and despite many, many, inventive attempts, including with help from CoPilot, I couldn't find a way to contact them, and to add insult to injury the chat option was "down". So I'll raise a fraud case with my credit card provider. Just an utter joke.

Robot conversations

I accidentally clicked one. I meant to click zero. Your automated support sucks it was zero help, and I’m still unable to do my job because of it! It automatically hung up on me three times. The fourth time I tried, I thought I made it somewhere, but I was wrong, which makes me wrong over that sentence above. I was actually hung up on four times. I hate that I am forced by my company to use Microsoft platforms.

My experience with this was so bad it was almost funny.

Absolutely aweful customer support. It was when I had a problem with my OneDrive and how it was backing up my data. See, when I had installed Windows 11 on my newly-built pc, there was an option asking if I would like my data backing up to OneDrive. I thought "okay that's relatively harmless" and so clicked yes. About 10 months later, I finally realise why my WiFi speed is almost constantly half what it should be: every single piece of data that I've ever installed on my pc was being backed up to OneDrive (we're talking half a terrabyte). So I go ahead and clear my OneDrive and go to settings where I prevent any more data being backed up. The next minute, I realise that half of my data on my pc has been deleted when I cleared my OneDrive, meaning that half of every file that was backed up to OneDrive was the original data itself, not a "back-up" copy. So, after beginning to reinstall the mountain of personal data that was stolen from my device, I call Microsoft Support. And WHO DO YOU THINK ANSWERS MY FLIPPIN' CALL? A FLIPPIN' BOT, THAT HASN'T BEEN UPDATED SINCE THE 2008 ECONOMIC CRASH

I try to explain the situation to this deranged pre-recorded automaton who, the moment I utter the words "OneDrive", interrupts my explanation and states what it thinks the problem is (which it identified completely wrongly) and tells me to click a link which it sent me where I can apparently find help and FAQs. Frustrated, I clicked this link only to find that the link DIDN'T WORK!!

So not only did it interrupt me and wrongly indentify my problem, but it told me to find help on a link that DIDN'T EVEN FLIPPIN' WORK!! If you don't believe this review, I'm not surprised. This is straight out of a flippin' comic strip.

So, to recap: very invasive backing-up from OneDrive, writing the original data onto OneDrive rather than "back-up" copies (stealing my data), and A FLIPPIN' "COMPUTER SAYS NO" COMEDY SKETCH OF A CUSTOMER SUPPORT SYSTEM!! Don't fall for OneDrive, and don't even bother with Microsoft Support.
